On This Day - Pete Souza: “The First Lady reacts as she watches Laura Jarrett and Tony Balkissoon take their vows during their wedding at Valerie Jarrettâs home in Chicago.” June 18, 2025
Something really beautiful about grandparents and grandkids. Iâm always shocked at my Mom with my boys. Who is this woman who brings candy and encourages them to have as much as they want before dinner?
Aah, Chips, one of my favorite photos. So much love and sweetness. Itâs gonna be a scorcher today-summerâs coming early and will probably stay late. Have a great day and I do hope you get a new brush. By this time, it could have been airlifted to your (cough) remote location.
This is one my favorites too JG. What a breathtakingly gorgeous couple. The soft beige and cream colors accent their beautiful skin tones. I am immediately drawn drawn to Michelleâs hand on her chest and her arm draped on PBOâs knee. Their expressions speak volumes about the joyous occasion.
I am going to miss Jay Carney. Such a serene face in the House of Follies that is the daily WH briefings. He was the Professor for the hyperactive toddlers the media call journalists. He behave like a patient doctor among a flock that suffer from dementia, insanity, and who carry tantrums. I am going to miss Jay.
Iâm going to miss him, too. I really love that face he makes when he is asked the same stupid question for the umpteenth time. Of course I get to say out loud what I am thinking of those fools but he can only make that face and try again to explain something basic to them.
Morning, Chips! Howâs my boy, DannyO? I do hope you are not taking out your hair frustrations on him, and without evidence too!
Have you considered finger combing, then braiding your hair ……. until the Brushes Airlifted company makes a drop? I mean, what did the ladies used to do before hairbrushes? Shucks, why donât you Experiment. Be creative. Use whatâs available to you. Who knows, you might stumble onto something that could be showcased at the Maker Faire. Go for it! You discover something that makes you rich, Iâll only require a 49% agent fee.
LOL… well, it is a tragedy and I have scads of empathy for your brushless life.. I think a fork is such an original and “MacGiver” invention.. that while laughing I was also applauding your amazing where with all :) better? ;)
:-) Dotster, did you see me yesterday saying that I saw my shadow on the wall and it completely looked like the McDonalds M on top of my head? It will be one of my greatest regrets that I didnât take a photo of it.
No, no, no, Chips! /smh at your inability to see the potential in this situation/ Havenât you learned yet success is all in the mind? Think positive. Shape the response you desire. Itâs not a hair tragedy, itâs a hair OPPORTUNITY! Out of your suffering came this wonderful opportunity to create something new. Think how authentic youâll sound when you prepare the ad for your new product - you wonât need to pay an actress; *your* real anguish will come through, and your real BEFORE hair will be quite convincing (as will the AFTER, I hope). /steps away sharply as she sees Chips heading towards the small pots and pans in the kitchen/
 Thank you for your remarkable effort VC, but I am still failing to see this as anything other than a tragedy, one that is on a par with all the worldâs major tragedies.
/brushing palms together/ I wash my hands of this since you are determined to wallow.
DannyO, you want to go for a walk and talk? Just be aware that my walks are quite sedate. I wonât be running, or shouting, after you if you take it into your head to wander off. What do you say?
There you go! A unique look. I say slap a fancy name on the fork, find a means to add a tine or two, maybe reshape the handle a bit (for aesthetics)…and voila, you have a new hair implement.
(ps: Do not call it a hair pick, or soul comb/brush, whatever you do!)
See, I was being facetious, as well as thinking that mankind would hardly have been thinking about womankind. But of course if mankind was obsessing over *their* own hair, it makes perfect sense. Yes, Iâm in one of my silly moods - Iâm blaming lack of sleep TODAY.
Chips my dog eats everything puts holes in my rugs, toilet paper, shoes, and now the wire to my big screen tv.
Ugh!
Makes me miss my black lab, who was perfectly trained and used to cuddle with me at night. :(
Jovie, Iâm just relieved to hear your dog has a taste for rugs, toilet paper and wires too - I am more and more convinced they are related. Hang in there, your dog will calm down, like mine. Gulp!
When my brown lab was a puppy he ate a palm pilot, leica camera, a coffee table and my brand new only thing I bought for myself in once in a lifetime trip to Australia authentic rancher boots. He also had a real fondness for the delectibles he found in the trash and especially the litter sprinkled kitty bombs. Those were his favorite! He never did take my hairbrush, though. I wanted to murder him but Iâm so glad I didnât because he has been the best friend ever. Now he is a mostly white haired senior who sleeps 23 hours of the day and lives for when his boys come through the door and he gets to cuddle with them.
“a palm pilot, leica camera, a coffee table and my brand new only thing I bought for myself in once in a lifetime trip to Australia authentic rancher boots”
MomSense, I shouldnât, but ……….:lol::lol: I am dying here!!!!
To my knowledge, MomSense, (but I could be wrong) Danny hasnât eaten metal yet, so your dog sounds very unique to me. Wood, though? He loves that, canât get enough of it - and I donât even want to think about his innards after consuming a tree.
He didnât actually swallow it-more like tons of punctures and all the plastic bits chewed off making them totally unusable. And he did it because he missed me!!
my black lab used to eat the facade on the exterior of the house, the dining room chairs, and the doors..sigh…after 7 years he finally calmed down and stopped doing that. and I wonât tell you what habits he picked up now…
Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny, and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Wednesday morning. Congrats Roberta, on being first this morning. Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America!!
I turn on the tube and what do I see
A whole lotta people cryinâ “Donât blame me”
They point their crooked little fingers ar everybody else
Spend all their time feelinâ sorry for themselves
Victim of this, victim of that
Your mommaâs too thin; your daddyâs too fat
Get over it
Get over it
All this whininâ and cryinâ and pitchinâ a fit
Get over it, get over it
Gâmorning Chips & TOD! :) Happy Wednesday everyone. Look forward to seeing/hearing our President later today. He will also be briefing congress on Iraq.
See Chuck Todd is everywhere with over the top alarmist reporting on new bad poll numbers, as you predicted. Always—-this timing—-to tamp down good news for this administration. On Today he was using words like approvals “cratering” and “a dagger in the heart” and saying, “Hey buddy, your presidencyâs over”——must have spent some time coming up with that one. And then he went to the corporate pay window to collect his bonus, job well done.
Funny, last week I made a comment about President Obama continuing to move FORWARD as the GOP/MSM are in constant flounder mode. The news of the capture of one of the leaders of the Benghazi attack was just *another* example of the Presidentâs forward movement. He quietly allows his detractors to dig (a) hole(s) for themselves and then he and the rest of the world watches as they try to scramble out of said hole(s). It would be embarrassing to watch these idiots scramble if it werenât for the satisfaction that karma has come into play.
Good morning, TOD. Apologies for not checking in yesterday when I got home (12:45). Busy afternoon……then late afternoon hiker hubby called for help. His phone is basically “fried”…….wonât charge……when he turns it off, it powers itself back on…..yada yada yada. Anyway, I spent over two hours either on phone w/our local store, conference calls w/insurance people…..went to local store to get his replacement phone, then next door to Fed Ex to get it sent to him. He will get it Friday morning in Hamburg, PA.
On another subject: Coming home from ‘Yâ just now, listening to Ari Robinhavenhof (sp??). One of his panel said he has been talking to numerous people on Capitol Hill about the “select committee” on Benghazi. Numerous people have told him same thing: The committee cannot get staffers to agree to work for them. They are being told it is a three year job and no one wants to take it because they know thereâs no there there. Theyâve also told him that Issa told Boehner to not go this route because no new info would be found. He said people “behind the scenes” will really open up about how bad it is……it was all Republicans telling him these things.

Heâs a tad upset about it - the media seem to think they were doing him a favor - but not even a request to use it
https://www.facebook.com/Stonekettle
Iâve quite often seen media tweets asking to use a photo posted online - most folks will say yes - itâs the use without any contact that has him upset.
Iâve seen him complain about this before, 99ts, it must be infuriating to have such lengthy, thoughtful pieces just lifted like that. Itâs amazing how many sites ignore the basic etiquette that you post a short extract from a piece and then provide a link to the sourceâs site so people will go there to read it all.
On the contrary, I was touched and thanked you for your thoughtfulness, while wondering where I would store the solution until tonightâs bedtime. [Prolly shocked the WP censor. Actually shocked myself at how naturally the thanks slipped out! ] Go figure!
Chuck Todd is full of it! And he knows it - thatâs why heâs so damn defensive. He knows damn well that their polls almost ALWAYS show the president at an “all time low” and hardly the other way around, and people are on to their bullchit. Heâs trying to play the false equivalence game as if their polls are balanced - which they arenât. Itâs sickening and people are not having it.
@chucktodd Don't be defensive. You know perfectly well that your "polls" are designed to UNDERESTIMATE the President's approvals. @iboudreau
Good morning all TODville. We have had some beautiful rain and alittle snow here in MT. Everything is beautiful and green. Today the sun will shine. We are heading out to wilds of MT for 5 day camping and fishing trip. I canât wait to get away, but I just wonder what is going to happen while I am gone. Not being able to get my daily TOD fix is going to be hard.
My friend who is retired from the government sends me great information. Today he sent me this article about Iraq. He said it was the best he had read so far. Donât know much about the author, but I trust Mark. It is written by Kenneth Pollack of the Brookings Institute. “Iraq Military Situation Report.” http://www.brookings.edu/blogs/up-front/posts/2014/06/14-iraq-military-situation-pollack
Kenneth Pollack was a cheerleader for the Invasion of Iraq. He wrote a book about it in 2002. The Threatening Storm: The Case for Invading Iraq (pub. 2002)
Thanks Linda, my friend Mark was against the war and is still against war, he is a staunch democrat so I am surprised about this. Iâll have to do some asking about Markâs reasoning. After reading the article he isnât advocating that we get involved at all. maybe he has changed his mind.
Here is the Chuck Todd/NBC Tweet I was referring to:
Chuck Todd: New Poll Results Suggest Obama Is Done http://t.co/Iu3Q4blXu9
— NBC Politics (@NBCPolitics) June 18, 2025
Note that 30 minutes after the tweet, only 9 retweets (1 favorite) from an account that has over 100K followers. Just to give you some perspective: People like Chips, Nerdy Wonka and other TODers with fewer than 20K followers, routinely get more than 9 retweets in a 30-minute span for most of their run-of-the-mill tweets. Any questions?
I donât tweet, but I will contact Chucky Todd and let him know that if we believe him and his B.S. polls President Obama would have been a one term President.
In the 2012 election Chucky was one of the main one pushing the doom and gloom narrative for the Obama campaign. So if we donât buy his B.S. we have reason not too.
I find it amusing that regardless of whether Chuck Todd is standing up or sitting down…he is the same height regardless of his constant rocking on his tippy toes when standing
Have you guys seen “The Daily Skimm”? This is a daily email that a person can subscribe to (free) primarily intended for working women on the go who donât have time to watch news. Itâs written in a style that is about being able to have conversations with others about daily politics, world and national news. I love it. It gets to the point in a clever, interesting way.
Hereâs todayâs:
Daily Skimm: Get 'er done - http://t.co/vCSzupVgqE
Hereâs why I donât trust any polling: Polling companies still do landlines. In our family, the only ones who have a landline are my husband and I. We are both over 70, white and retired. Our children, who are in their 40s, use only cells, as do their contemporaries. If they see a number they arenât familiar with come up, thy donât answer. We also have caller ID and if we donât recognize the number, we donât answer the phone. I think weâre fairly typical. My d-I-l wouldnât have the time to answer a pollster, my daughter and s-I-l would probably laugh at their questions or hang up, and my son would hang up. All four of them are rabid PBO admirers, but theyâll never be polled.
How many times has Chuck Todd said President Obamaâs presidency is “finished?” Like Paul Ryan and company heâs been trying to finish PBO since 2009.
Itâs my firm belief that the only people who are actually polled are bitter, old, white retired people.
I have been wondering about those polls as well. I just donât understand how the numbers could be real when you see how people receive PBO everywhere he goes. There is a disconnect somewhere.
Itâs not just your opinion carolyn. I have long believed that pollster can ask the questions in a way to get the response they are looking for. Like that CNN poll which happen to come out the very day a town hall meeting with Hillary Clinton were airing on CNN, which said that in all the issues Hillary Clinton out poll President Obama. Even on healthcare, were if those people were to remember Hillary failed at her attempt of passing healthcare, Obama was successful. Foreign policies, Obama has gotten us out of one of Bush-Cheneyâs war, ending another one of their wars, havenât gotten us into a new one, capture and kill terrorists (bin Laden), kept us safe from an attack, but Hillary out poll him in foreign policies. I email CNN and told them their poll was full of alot of B.S.
An 11-year-old boy fatally shot his best friend Tuesday afternoon while his mother mowed the lawn outside their home, The Columbus Dispatch reported.
Muskingum County Sheriffâs Lt. Mike Lecocq said deputies were dispatched to the Frazeysburg, Ohio home of Jen Miller just after 3:30 p.m. Millerâs son had called 911 to report that he accidentally shot the friend heâd been playing with inside the house.
I read some of the opinion (it is very long) & it seems it can be appealed - as it was in the 1990s. Maybe they will give it up - they are well losing in the world of public opinion.
An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later.

Those colors on our First Family are gorgeous wished I could see them more. Soothing is the word

I think hair brushes were one of the first inventions of mankind.
:-) If a lurker dropped in today 57, theyâd wonder why on earth we were all talking about hairbrushes!!
I wonder why weâve been talking about hairbrushes for three days.
See, with the longer-haired dogs I could use their brushes if need be.
You mean of womankind, donât you, 57F? I canât picture ‘early manâ taking time from his ‘busy dayâ to create a hairbrush. Just saying.

I do agree - men invent for men - women for everyone - but prior to the 20th century men were seriously obsessed with their hair (or lack thereof).
Enjoy your silly mood - life wasnât meant to be without the silly :)
men invent for men â women for everyone
This hold true generally, doesnât it? :)
That is EXACTLY what I meant.

Iâve seen him complain about this before, 99ts, it must be infuriating to have such lengthy, thoughtful pieces just lifted like that. Itâs amazing how many sites ignore the basic etiquette that you post a short extract from a piece and then provide a link to the sourceâs site so people will go there to read it all.
my present for vc
Looks like Cheney and his minions.
That oughta put vc to sleep. :)
Or generate nightmares. :)
Letâs not tell her.
Youâre driving.
I could have sworn I responded to this over an hour or so ago! Wonder what happened to that answer?
prolly it was mean and so #spammed.
On the contrary, I was touched and thanked you for your thoughtfulness, while wondering where I would store the solution until tonightâs bedtime. [Prolly shocked the WP censor. Actually shocked myself at how naturally the thanks slipped out! ] Go figure!
:)
Thatâs my grandbabe watching “peppa pig” on the TV - the concentration is intense.
This morning they were comparing a Bloomberg Poll from months ago to a WSJ poll on Hillary today…..
Morning Junk thought we would not realize that .
Since the poll that said Cantor was ahead by 35 points - followed by a loss of 11 points - I treat any poll as having a margin of error +/- 50 points.
LOL!!
Why do we care about POâs poll numbers again? Is he running for something….oh wait
He is a NeoCon
Thanks Linda, my friend Mark was against the war and is still against war, he is a staunch democrat so I am surprised about this. Iâll have to do some asking about Markâs reasoning. After reading the article he isnât advocating that we get involved at all. maybe he has changed his mind.
Here is the Chuck Todd/NBC Tweet I was referring to:
Note that 30 minutes after the tweet, only 9 retweets (1 favorite) from an account that has over 100K followers. Just to give you some perspective: People like Chips, Nerdy Wonka and other TODers with fewer than 20K followers, routinely get more than 9 retweets in a 30-minute span for most of their run-of-the-mill tweets. Any questions?
HF2, As you can see from the retweets, (or lack thereof), the public is NOT buying this bullshit poll. Todd needs to go have a seat (permanently).
Exactly Allison - thatâs my point right there.
I donât tweet, but I will contact Chucky Todd and let him know that if we believe him and his B.S. polls President Obama would have been a one term President.
In the 2012 election Chucky was one of the main one pushing the doom and gloom narrative for the Obama campaign. So if we donât buy his B.S. we have reason not too.
amk, did you get a response back from the little Chucky Todd.
I find it amusing that regardless of whether Chuck Todd is standing up or sitting down…he is the same height regardless of his constant rocking on his tippy toes when standing
Letâs poll his intelligence level, eh?
Iâm still waiting for the polls of how much American trust the media. I havenât seen one yet.
Theyâve done that annie and the results were not good.
DAMN!!!!! hahahahahahahahahahaha Go ahead amk. Take it to him. That had to hurt. hahahahahahahaha
Morning Shipmate!!
Gâday Admiral. What mischief is troubling the waters this fine morning?
So far VC and Chuck Todd are the main mischief-makers Shipmate, but the day is young.
Aye. So it is. I see by the signal flags that the “vampires Cheneyâs have been awakened while they change the dirt in their coffins!
Oh, you have such a way with words, Shipmate!!
For true?
{{{{yawning}}}}
ARISE MATEY.
ARRGHHHH
Too late. Put your feet on the deck and rise!
WEST COAST!
So what? The sun has broached the horizon so be about it, eh!
The truth is, Iâve been up since 2am. Neighbors upstairs decided to move all their furniture. So yeah, horizons.
Sorry. Sounds like you were up for the “mid-watch”. So youâre allowed to sleep-in. ;)
what dog?
hf, I just logged onto twitter when I wrote that and didnât even know about Chuckieâs poll. GAH.
LOL - see how predictable this “polling” has become? You can see it coming from a mile BEFORE it happens…ha!!
Well, I think my tweet already has more RTs than Chuckâs. LOLzzzz!
No surprise there. People know the truth when they see it. :)
canât help thinking of #danny. #contrast.
An interesting link at BJ - by Edward Said who got it right on Iraq back in 2003

A remarkable insight into then and now.
She not only failed but her husband President Clinton gave up any attempt to get it passed even though he ran on it.

Loved that tweet PF!
HmmmmâŚâŚ..
Wow!!!
But butâŚ.PBO admin is sooooo done!
Can this be taken to court? or is it over?
Amazing how all these things happen in the age of Obama!
I have no idea what happens now 99ts, whether they can legally carry on using the name, off to read that ThinkProgress article.
I read some of the opinion (it is very long) & it seems it can be appealed - as it was in the 1990s. Maybe they will give it up - they are well losing in the world of public opinion.
Theyâre so repulsively stubborn on this I canât ever seeing them give up, itâll probably be in the courts for years
American School Counselors Association:
I saw were the horrible Dick Cheney has surface again. I know the man have had several heart replacement, I wonder if his brain were replaced too.
WOOOOT!
Snyder is kidding himself. Sooner or later heâs going to have to change the name.
