Chat On

If the USA draw/tie with Germany in their last group game, both go through to the knockout phase. Just sayin’.

Let’s not make Bo & Sunny be scapegoats for our players bad playing. USA squeaked by.

Right on GGail. If people are going to pick on Bo and Sunny, then why not pick on everything dealing with Portugal. We could have won the game, we didn’t, we came out in a draw, now let’s look ahead to Germany.

Thanks to everyone who live blogged the game. I will gird my loins to watch our next match if I can find an English-speaking link.

    Go USA.

Bo and Sunny are American citizens because their parents, Barack and Michelle, are; na, na, na na

Unbelievable. It was one for the ages. Goooooooooooooooooal!

I thought I heard the commentator say that Jones has 5 kids and Dempsey is part Native American?

Jones was born in 1981 and Dempsey in 1983. Wow…..I salute both men for their tenacity.

The key game may be Portugal vs Ghana. If they draw, the US moves on no matter what happens in their game. For the fans, it will be excruciating because both that game and the US-Germany game are being played at the same time.

Love the top photo, Chips. Looks like a double-dare-ya toast from Angela! Look at her eyes. And somebody please get her a better haircut I mean hack job. And straighten her necklace. But I digressed.

    Evenin’.

Random: Just watched 5 mins. of CNN’s special The Sixties. Heard Woody Allen say he planned to “sleep through the Nixon Administration.” Gonna save that idea for a couple of decades down the road, when we (kicking and screaming) allow Rs back in the White House the next time. Technically, I can’t read or watch any recaps of the 1960s. If you went through it, you don’t need or want to go through it again. But I know one thing: we’ll never forget it. Unless we’re among those who were too … uhm … under the influence of the times!

Now, I’m not saying this will extend to them or their group of elected losers in the same vocal way as the Pope’s recent denouncement of the mafia, because the Pope has said he’s not going political, but I just like reminding these pretend Catholics that their Church (my Church) believes in social justice. You can’t be against those less fortunate and call yourself a practicing Catholic. Well, they can, I guess.

Thanks for bringing it home, Bob. I just want those interested to remind them and others, every now and then, that some of us have our eyes wide open. Including the head of their Church! The key is that they run for re-election on their Christianity, and they checked the wrong box on that! If you want to personally be a saint or a sinner, go for it. If you want to drag in voters because of what you’re pretending to be, no can do.

My wife and I just had a very productive meeting with our partners in trying to build the food truck business. My evil plan is progressing nicely!

    1. Find woman silly enough to marry me. Check
    2. Get a good jobs slowing drowning my soul in corporate bullshit. Check
    3. Have 2 lunatic children. Check
    4. Save money for 15 years. Check
    5. Get Food Truck and relocate to coastal Carolina… in process with progress being made
    6. Take over world.
    7. Use power as world dictator to make people stop putting celery and onions in egg salad.

      lwr,

Saw your post this morning re: idyllic breakfast picnic at the local community (or as your PC knows it, the local “comment”) park, which reminded me of this great tweet by dudette yesterday. She commented at the time that those areas lacking public parks match to those areas suffering from poverty and the poorly educated.

Not surprised to see my county among those whose priority is public space. I’ve lived here for over 30 years, and it’s clear that this town’s priorities are schools, parks and an AMAZING library (gigantic, with floor-to-ceiling windows angled away from direct sunlight, and for those walls without these windows there are high windows that run parallel to the angled roof. Plus a ginormous salt water aquarium that transitions from the adult to children’s library, and two outside (shaded) patios (one each for adults/children).

And I could go on and on about our many (and mostly large) public parks.

I think San Diego county made the list because they have so much shoreline, which is by default public land in CA, and because of the 100-acre Balboa Park, home to the “world famous” Zoo and US Naval Hospital.

My family and I had a great time in San Diego last year. We walked from our hotel to Slater’s 50/50 for lunch and encountered a dog agility course event going on in a park. It was more like a bunch of dogs playing and being shown off than it was a serious competition. We’re major dog people in our family, so we loved hanging out there for a while before going back to the hotel to change and head to the beach. We left for Legoland in the morning.

Forgot to mention that we can’t be friends over egg salad, LOL. Egg salad is ONLY complete when it’s seasoned with celery salt with bits of celery in the mixture, IMO.

Celery is also one of my fav foods (not crazy about the strings on the stalks, though).

Oh I laughed. You’re on your way! And if I’m ever near coastal Carolina and spot your food truck and you skip the celery and onions in the egg salad, I’m in line.

I agree with the onions but I like the crunch celery in my egg salad after all we are not barbarians! :) :) :)

I wish you much luck in you making your dream come true. Make sure you have a good business plan and know the lay of the land in coastal Carolina, i.e. what the locals food habits are and the tourists.

I like to use celery in my sauce when I simmer meatballs or pork chops or sausage in it all day (some italians that I know stop calling it sauce and start calling it gravy once there’s meat in it) and then make fresh pasta. I like it in my jambalaya too. I think celery salt is among the best things that you can do with chicken. I just find hard boiled eggs, Hellman’s (it’s called Best Food west of the Mississippi), salt, and pepper to be sublime. Sometimes, I’ll add a little mustard or sprinkle some hot sauce on an egg salad sandwich.

I lived in Charleston for a couple of years. I love the local cuisine and know a little bit about the tourism and area. We’re working on the business plan. I am looking into the legal stuff: forming an LLC, finding a lawyer, researching Health Department requirements, getting insurance, etc. I’ve been researching marketing of food trucks too.

It’s a little overwhelming, but I am going to at least try to do what I love to do in the place where I want to be while I have a life to enjoy. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Sounds like you know what the locals like. The only thing I would add is to go online to the states’ website and download as much information you can about the sales taxability prepared food and whatever else subjects on their website that might apply to your business.

I am keeping my fingers crossed and praying that you are able to pursue your dream. I know you and the wife will work hard to make it successful and it will be good to get the kids out of AZ.

I´m probably overworked but the first thing that came to my mind at the picture above was: “In Germany we have a saying: Look each other in the eyes when you toast to someone. If you don´t it means seven years of bad sex.” …. Okay I´ll go sit ina corner now and be really ashamed for myself,
