I have a very very very soft spot for all things Celtic. Probably because I’m convinced I’m James Joyce’s reincarnation. So, for tonight, a little bit of that awesome band, The Pogues.

Way to go, Bob!
I didn’t even see you move!
Was holding the door ….. :D
Then you got impatient. Of course, I see it all now.
:D :D :D
BTW LL, really enjoy ‘Fiesta’ :)
It’s Bobfr on the podium!
More like second. But here, have a Manhattan.
at 4;30 am ? … why the heck not? thanks.
:D :D That’s the ‘spirit,’ amk :D
et tu, bob? grrroan.
assure you, amk, I’ll be groaning just as loudly tomorrow at ~ 4a PT when I start my day :)
Bourbon is Baby Jesus’ drink.
Also, too, he wasn’t second; he was third!, so don’t you be giving him my drink. I prefer freshly squeezed oj, by the way. Thanks in advance.
you had to fight me just for oj ? / smh, smh.
All part of the strategy. Simply looking our for your best interest, old friend. If I thwart one of your drinking sessions, you’ll be all the healthier for it. Pretty soon, you’ll be turned off demon liquor completely. Once I’ve converted you, I’ll take aim at Lib_L. Sounds like a good plan?
LL, you’ve been warned.
I’m not subject to Jedi mindtricks!
Don’t! He’s already a harder nut to crack without you putting him on guard!
Of course, I don’t know if you noticed, but I never did get my oj. You men are so ….so… unfair when it comes to paying the wages we have earned. I WORKED HARD FOR THAT 2nd PLACE FINISH, Lib_L!!
here is your cuppa.
Thank…. hey, what’s that white stuff on the edge, and I don’t mean the straw?
Actually reminds me of the first time I ordered oj when I went out for dinner with work colleagues. I guess since everyone else had an alcoholic beverage the waiter thought I means vodka & oj (or whatever drink normally takes oj). I took a sip, didn’t like the taste and therefore ignored it afterwards. When the others noticed I wasn’t drinking, told them I thought the oj was going stale – so they of course said ‘send it back’. Shorter ending, in the process of *them* sending it back we discovered that it wasn’t oj on the rocks. I got my untarnished oj, and with profuse apologies.
oj on the rocks. LOL. only you.
:) Why taint the taste of something good – especially if it’s freshly squeezed Florida oj?
True story. When I was flying from bertcertland to joburg, the women next to me mixed champagne with oj. The purser/attendant came back later and told her it was a ‘novel’ drink. whether as a compliment or insult, you decide.
Did she get the champagne free? Poor thing must be like me – knows little about alcohol and not interested in knowing more.
I thank you kindly, sir Lib_L. All is well… for now. :)
Lib_L, I think Amk is trying to get the broadest possible definition for ‘furst’.
better than the silent treatment.
just type a space and post, she says. / smh.
Goooooold for Doc Bobfr ;)
A :star: most definitively :)
You are too kind, Nena :)
Can’t keep my eyes open. I am waiting for the MS result. Any definite answer yet?
So far, Cochran is ahead by a cat’s tit. #DanRatherisms
Oh Karma, have I said I love ya?
Thanks. I will try to hang on for 15 more minutes. My typing will get rather be besieged with Many, Many, Many errors.
Now there is a description to come home to!
West may hit Russia with sector sanctions this week, but Putin overtures could slow penalties
WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States and its European allies are finalizing a package of sanctions on Russia’s key economic sectors that could be levied as early as this week, though the penalties might be delayed because of positive signals from Russian President Vladimir Putin, administration officials and others close to the decision-making said Tuesday.
Penalizing large swaths of the Russian economy, including its lucrative energy industry, would ratchet up the West’s punishments against Moscow over its threatening moves in Ukraine. The U.S. and Europe have already sanctioned Russian individuals and entities, including some with close ties to Putin, but have so far stayed away from the broader penalties, in part because of concern from European countries that have close economic ties with Russia.
Dear #PBO you're doing fabulously not endangering our troops as you disarm #SyrianWMD & #DeNukeIran. #TzarVlad may need a #SanctionNudge. TY— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) June 25, 2014
You’re welcome :)
Here’s the latest on MS-Sen
With 93% in
Cochran 159,885 50.8%
McDaniel 155,072 49.2
And then there’s this:
@DavidCornDC Lemme guess…CHUCK TODD…— (@aspirational12) June 25, 2014
Even though McDaniel wins – there’s NO WAY in hell, he’s winning by 6 pts….
I agree with HF2.

Okay, another update from Old Orange:
// 7:35 PM PT (David Jarman): MS-Sen: Kaboom! The rest of those Jones County votes landed with a thud. The good news for Chris McDaniel is that they boosted him a lot; it’s now a 50-50 race with Cochran leading by only a little more than a thousand votes. The bad news for McDaniel is that was his last major pocket of strength, and it’s not clear where he makes up the rest. //
So basically, it looks like lose or draw for McDaniel, unless by a fluke, he over-performs in the remaining precincts….
I still don’t think much difference, if any with T Bagger winning or Cochran.
For crying out loud, you can only vote once against what the president wants.
Both will vote No!!!
Hello TOD are you in there?
Wait who did Chuckles say would win by 6?
At first I thought this was a Cochran tweet. RT @kidnoble Black women y'all come in so many beautiful colors. My word.— David Corn (@DavidCornDC) June 25, 2014
ROTFLMAO!! Well, he’s probably thinking as much on this particular night…
Alright Thad Cochran is going to win. Yes. That’s my boy.
Jovie you chose to see the glass as half empty – I chose to see it as half full. And I’m perfectly fine with my decision. Thanks, and wishing you and puppy a very pleasant evening.
Still two no votes in the senate any you cut it.
I NEVER expected a Senate Dem vote from MS – one of the deepest red states in the entire country. That’s like expecting a Teabagger to win the state of NY for Senate. Let’s be real here.
And if McDaniels had won tonight – he would probably win the general in NOV- which would be worse for the AAs in that state. Voter suppression would be the least of their problems with that guy as Senator.
What this election DID show however, is that polls do NOT determine election outcomes, voters do. And that minority and DEM voters can mobilize to successful electoral outcome in most situations – if they use it wisely. Cochran will likely still win at the end of the day due to name recognition and incumbency, but as I said, this is MS, not NY.
Now if all those voters and more came out in Nov…and vote for the DEM…HA!…they would win
Basically this result is hard-core evidence that polls don’t mean a damn thing. It’s VOTES that matter.
Sure seems to be the case in the current environment – methinks the stupid of the GOP has really wrecked the polls in the past year or two.

Who you gonna believe, your eyes or Suarez, the ……….?
Yeah, it looked like that. And sure, Suarez has a history of biting. But Suarez swears you didn’t see what happened correctly. Here’s what he said after the incident occurred.
“These are things that happen on the pitch, we were both in the area, he thrust his shoulder into me,” Suarez said in Spanish. “These things happen on the pitch, and we don’t have to give them so much (importance).”
96 percent in, Cochran up 1.4 percent. A bridge too far now for McDaniel?— David Corn (@DavidCornDC) June 25, 2014

Yes, Nerdy. I just don’t remember his name.
Is there a Democratic candidate to challenge either Cochran or McDaniels in MS?
Yes — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travis_Childers
Wait until the Tea Party challenges Cochran's win by arguing that black votes in Mississippi only count for three-fifths.— Robert Mann (@RTMannJr) June 25, 2014
Up by 4K votes with about 3% votes to count.
The Media were wrong again. Total votes exceeded the number of voters that came out just weeks ago.
So, lemme get this straight. Only reason Cochran may win is b/c he begged for AA votes, which will go to Dem in Nov. #priceless— Liberal Librarian (@Lib_Librarian) June 25, 2014
Thad Cochran wins. I'm glad it's not a late night. He needs his sleep.— David Corn (@DavidCornDC) June 25, 2014
Hey TOD, Rahm Emmanuel is quoted to have said : “never let a crisis go to waste”;
I believe that we should apply this to the Mississippi Senate race and “never let an Obama-coalition relevant election go to waste”;
I believe that we should use the tight result of the MS election to strengthen the spine of some weak Dems and offer advice to them to stop their anti-PBO rhetoric.
We should use the talk about the participation of the black voters to make a point to the Democrats who may be running in Red States and/or believing the beltway/media echo chamber that it is a great strategy to run away from or directly insult PBO in order to win in the south.
I used black voter participation in my message but it should be expanded to include the “Obama Coalition”;
There are so many people here who can phrase this better than my feeble attempt – so please help out and “strike while the (political) iron is still hot”;
@dscc @dccc #mssen offers a clear lesson for the Dems running in gop-leaning areas => black voters are determined to defend vs PBO-haters— Linda Kyambadde (@globalcitizenln) June 25, 2014
Good Night TOD…..
WE are the Change we Seek!!!

What is it with people voting for these elderly guys who’ve been in Congress forever with no particularly remarkable achievements?
the alternative is worse perhaps?

Oh, over the next days, expect a lot of racist garbage to be uttered by very angry right-wingers aka gop
Will somebody please tell me the difference between establishment republicans and T baggers?
Because both will always vote no on anything the president offers, both will never work with democrats on anything, and both will never vote to find any highway programs.
So, the difference is what exactly?
Harsh language that a t Bagger uses? Really?
This just in.
The GOP has some democrats fooled.
Isn’t any difference at all between establishment republicans and T baggers. Both are Far right.
you want another ted cruz?
As opposed to who? McConell who has obstructed everything?
McCain who wants nothing but war?
The establishment republicans have morphed into either the tea party or are still Neo cons.
ummm, govt shutdown? downgrading of US credit rating? – that’s the diff between mcturtle and ted crazy types.
So the establishment was not in favor of government shutdowns? And yet they’ve done it several times in the past including just recently.
it was ted cruz instigating house nutters on those issues. If you can’t see the diff between burn-it-to-the ground teahadists and let’s make Obama one term prezinent, can’t help you there.
Oh ok. Well if you say that no difference between establishment republicans and t baggers then it’s a good possibility .
But I have my doubts.
one threatens to cut your throat while the other will. with glee. That’s the diff.
that’s a good analogy amk – in fact almost perfect
