      Good Morning 57!!!

That’s where I was heading but when I refreshed, “Leave a Message” was practically blinking like a Krispe Kreme sign. That timing thing again.

I hope you have a fantastic day.

Good Morning everyone. Happy Birthday to you ranman11. Today is an important World Cup match for team USA. I like the German team, and they’re my pick to win the World Cup followed closely by Brazil. But, with that said, GO TEAM USA!!

Last night’s thunder, lightening and torrential rains have given way to a glorious sunny day with blue skies and little white clouds. I swear the flowers are smiling. Today, we all get our hammer and mallets and pound a little more rock. It’s a thick wall and we’ve got to cut through it. Have a great day!

Happy birthday Ranman. Hope you have a wonderful day.

      And this was my response:

      A Snip from that article:

“Biden says that during the transition, he was warned not to expect any cooperation on many votes. “I spoke to seven different Republican Senators, who said, `Joe, I’m not going to be able to help you on anything,’ he recalls. His informants said McConnell had demanded unified resistance. “The way it was characterized to me was: `For the next two years, we can’t let you succeed in anything. That’s our ticket to coming back,’” Biden says.”

“The vice president says he hasn’t even told Obama who his sources were, but Bob Bennett of Utah and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania both confirmed they had conversations with Biden along these lines.”

I have been tweeting this article out to all of the black syndicated radio host as well as black leaders this morning. We had better start paying attention to the things that really matter. This is the Republican agenda right here. They couldn’t beat him at the polls so now its about tarnishing his legacy.

        June 26, 2014 at 7:59 am

Thank you donna for sharing this – and of course, the Republicans have had quite a bit of assistance from the Right AND Left media, just as GWB/Cheney had media assistance when they lied America into a war with Iraq among other things.

But this time, we the people are alert and ever so vigilant. The media fooled people back in 2000-2001 and probably in 2010, but enough is ENOUGH! We will NOT let them tarnish this great man’s legacy. Not.This.Time.

        June 26, 2014 at 8:21 am

Boehner and his cohorts should be so ashamed of themselves that they act against the interests of the people they represent in this manner. It truly needs to be broadcast far and wide – yet all the media talks about is what the GOP is saying.

I was late reading LL’s post from yesterday – but was struck by this one concept

“And internationally, the results are showing; since Pres. Obama’s first inauguration, approval of the US overseas has continued to climb, after the nadir reached in the previous administration.
But, people overseas can see Pres. Obama as he is, not through the scrim of the American experiment’s 400 years of racial politics.”

It is impossible for an “outsider” to understand the reality of the GOP in congress acting in this manner against a man who has done so much for his country – both within and without. Then again, I never thought I’d see the day when Americans would attack a returning POW.

    • 52 jackiegrumbacher
      June 26, 2014 at 7:58 am

Donna, there has clearly never been a more malevolent Congress in the history of the US. From the very beginning, the president’s enemies have underestimated him and us. They wanted to reverse their minority status and chose a path that guarantees them a minority future. Instead of their changing the world, the world has changed around them. All their petty deceits and vile intentions are exposed. Now we have to do everything in our power to crush them in November.

      • 53 Don
        June 26, 2014 at 8:27 am

jackie, I was thinking that exact same thing last night. These people are dinosaurs; they no longer fit in today’s politics. Their ways are obsolete; they are unwilling to go away quietly. Boehner and his outdated mob has tried everything under the sun to defeat President Obama, President Obama has defeated them from the streets to the courthouse and every place in between.

HF, the jackals will be fuming because President Obama will spend the day in Minnesota with Rebekah, her family and community (circumventing the media firewall). This will be the first in a series of day-in-the-life visits. There was a snarky question about the visit at a press briefing this week from Ann Compton. I can’t wait to see the local reporting about President Obama’s visit to Minnesota along side the story about Speaker Boehner suing PBO for doing his job and getting things done for the American people.

        Ladyhawke,

Always enjoy your informative links to articles and videos, thanks.

The first comment to this wonderful article is great:

“Back around mid 2008 I decided it was a much more stress free lifestyle to simply give up and become a democrat. Our family of 4 gets more money from our benefits that my husband and I earned when we worked. I don’t want to see any democrats get voted out because I just don’t like to be stressed and don’t want to work. Life is about 80% easier since Obama.”

This commenter was no doubt swayed by that once-in-a-lifetime 2008 Presidential campaign. But if others were honest with themselves, they felt that way after the mid-Sept. 2008 economic crisis meltdown. I believe this is true of all non-tin foil wearing Americans who don’t believe the sun revolves around the earth.

It also highlights how unprofessional upChuck Todd is, when he gleefully reported that “Obama’s presidency is over” in the view of Americans. upChuck, how about asking those Americans who can now find jobs (versus being laid off after Sept 2008 financial meltdown) about this ludrious, Baghdad Bob worthy “reporting?”

GM TODville, and happy B-Day, ranman!

Thanks proud Grandma Donna for bringing over Capehart’s article.

Cannot believe that broadcast news journalists can “report” on Boehner’s “gonna sue the President” cry for attention with a straight face.

If the news were truly fair and balanced, they would give equal time to the trillions of dollars wasted during the GWB administration and remind Americans whose fault it is that the Veterans Administration is now overworked and underfunded (hint: no PTSD and other maiming war wounds if Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld-CondiRice had not lied about Iraq and yellowcake).

A couple of tweets (the second reminds me of that famous one of McCain walking off the stage after a 2008 debate with PBO):

Why haven’t I heard your loud voices defending the white guy that was getting “serviced” from his intern. Scott Walker Supporter Charged With Major Voter Fraud Claims Amnesia

A supporter of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) has been charged with over a dozen counts of election fraud — though he reportedly claims a form of temporary amnesia has left him unable to recall his actions.

In an indictment filed in Milwaukee County court on Friday, Robert Monroe, 50, of Shorewood, Wis., was charged with 13 felony counts of election fraud, each of which could carry up to three and a half years in prison, or a $10,000 fine, upon conviction. Monroe is accused of registering to vote in more than one place, voting where he didn’t live, voting more than once in the same election, and providing false information to election officials.

Just heard that the St. Paul river will crest today, at its highest point ever, at 20.5 feet above normal (heard on the radio, didn’t catch the name of the river).

Stay safe and dry, Minnesota, while the President visits.

Can’t wait to hear from Nena and AliceInMinnesota today, bet they’re both over the moon with PBO’s visit.

During PBO’s last visit to St. Paul, we at TODville had fun talking about some of the great 20th Century architecture — the Art Deco-era train stations, buildings built for public use and designed to awe and inspire forever.

    • 82 Don
      June 26, 2014 at 9:12 am

I love Art Deco, saw it a lot living in Miami.

      • June 26, 2014 at 9:55 am

Despite Art Deco being associated with Ayn Rand and her ilk, it’s my fav architecture style.

Love the geometric mofits and the graceful curves of its arches.

IMO, it can’t be beat — I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but I think Frank Gehry represents how just how decadent American architecture has become, and resent what he has contributed to public space. I really dislike his “look at me” non-functional waste of resources.

Give me Frank Lloyd Wright or Richard Neutra anytime.

Let’s just say it: The Republicans are the problem.

By Norm Ornstein and Thomas Mann

      ————————————————-

We have been studying Washington politics and Congress for more than 40 years, and never have we seen them this dysfunctional. In our past writings, we have criticized both parties when we believed it was warranted. Today, however, we have no choice but to acknowledge that the core of the problem lies with the Republican Party.

The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition.

When one party moves this far from the mainstream, it makes it nearly impossible for the political system to deal constructively with the country’s challenges.

In Dramatic Pointless Gesture, Boehner to Sue Obama

    By Paul Waldman

    ——————————

It’s irresistible to charge Republicans with hypocrisy, especially given the fact that they were unconcerned when the Bush administration pushed so vigorously at the limits of presidential power. Bush and his staff regularly ignored laws they preferred not to follow, often with the thinnest of justifications, whether it was claiming executive privilege to ignore congressional subpoenas or issuing 1,200 signing statements declaring the president’s intention to disregard certain parts of duly passed laws. (They pushed the limits of vice presidential power, too—Dick Cheney famously argued that since the vice president is also president of the Senate, he was a member of both the executive and legislative branches, yet actually a member of neither and thus not subject to either’s legal constraints. Seriously, he actually believed that.)

And it’s a little rich to hear congressional Republicans wail that Obama has subverted their will, when their will is that this president should be able to do absolutely nothing.
