Knowing I won’t be around when the game is on – I’ll leave you all with this (and hope it’s not the only one from USA)

    GOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!

GGail, you are probably working. Well, at least if you are not watching the match, your heart will not be pounded so hard as if it wants to leave your chest.

You will have the peace of mind knowing that in a few hours, someone would tell you that the USA won 1-0.

      Enjoy your afternoon.

    Damn, Pierce is good:

So there really isn’t any excuse any more.

I occasionally get chaffed by folks for giving out civics lessons but, seriously, we get the government we deserve. The Founders, and those brave people who came later, a group that certainly includes the three Mississippi martyrs and thousands more whose names we don’t know, made sacrifices that leave us no alibis. If you live in a state that has restricted the franchise, and that has erected hoops through which you have to jump, then learn how to jump through the hoops and break down those barriers by flooding the polls. If you don’t live in a state where it has been made more difficult to vote, then get off your sorry ass.

Meta, just clicked on that and got this…
‘Univision Deportes is not available in your geographic region.’ – Then they proceeded to give me a map pinpointing my location. Scares the bejeebers out of me, let me tell you. Next thing, they’ll be knocking on my door to deliver the message personally!

“SCOTUS has been handing down so many logic-, precedent- and decency-free decisions in the past few days it’s tough to keep up on their judicial idiocy.

However, their focus on “sincerely held religious beliefs” blinded them to (or gave them an excuse to ignore) one vitally important fact in the Hobby Lobby case. Health care benefits are not “given” by an employer out of the goodness of their hearts. They are an employee benefit that is earned. As such, the employer has no right to object to how that benefit is used once it is earned by the employee, any more than it can object to how the employee’s salary is used. Your employer can have a deeply held religious belief that is vehemently opposed to the drinking of coffee, but once you earn that paycheck, they can’t insist you not go to Starbucks and get a mocha latte with the money they paid you.

Or, given this ruling, can they?”

59, 64, 66, 77 and 78 those are the years of the 5 Justices; namely: Roberts. Alito. Thomas. Kennedy. Scalia……. dictating what the 51.8% of Us, women are to be done by others who run business to mandate about our BODIES.

    In 2014, that is Insanity.

It is Up to Us to STOP the Insanity.

I’m watching. I may be the most clueless bandwagon fan, but USA! My gr-babe is watching. She doesn’t miss a game. She doesn’t seem to favor one team over another, she’s just a fan of the sport, maybe because it’s “beautiful”?–the only thing on teevee she’s ever been interested in and she is glued, according to reports. Daughter said there was a report in their local press about a doggie who is fascinated also, with a photo of him front and center, staring, like he wished he could run around out there with a ball. Chips, does Dannystix enjoy the games?

….she’s smart and loves to watch those ‘handsome’ men…. I mean people… running around in shorts.

She posed with Hanniny and Mr. 999! Wow, that’s all the info I needed. She definitely glows and has a great website. Maybe she should try something on TV. There are so many women she could replace on Fox.

NCLB my subtle unasked question is…… did she make it up to generate attention?

There are racists in the GOP. But they put up a face to showcase the FEW minorities in their midst.

I didn’t think of that. These teabaggers will stoop to any new low. While I don’t know her, the fact that she is lying about Obamacare on her website tells me that she is affected of the same disease.

If you listen to the ESPN commentators, the USA is behind even though no goals have been scored. Are they Republicans?
Just kidding. belgium did control the ball better and I’m hoping we step up.
Please real soccer fans, correct me if I am missing the entire point here.

I can’t watch the game, so basing on comments I have read on other sites. It appears Belgium has had the better of the play. However, as a non-soccer expert, I am not so sure that is a problem. I would actually prefer it to be tied right now than US to be ahead by a goal. They have shown difficulty defending a lead. I would rather they score a goal in the added time of second half, and go ahead 1-0 and have Howard sit on the ball to the end of the game.

    • 74 Nena20409
      July 1, 2014 at 4:55 pm

In all the games, beginning with the 1st game with Ghana, US had less control of the ball.

My very non-expert opinion is the same. Hoping for a better 2nd half.

Belgium has many very talented players. But ESPN is premature in saying USA is behind when there are no goals scored. Unfortunately I am away at work so I really don’t know how the teams are doing.

Heck they closed my office down at 3:55 and opened up the conference room with the big screen tv. I’m the only one left in here working (not really I’m on twitter and TOD). You see I get too nervous to watch so I follow the game on twitter.

“The underlying question to come out of this decision is, “Who owns and controls the compensation the employee receives for their labor?” Judging by this decision, five black robes believe the answer is, “Not the employee.”

“… Historically, the amendments have always deprived government of power and rested it with either the people or the states. But the Supreme Court has swept that aside. By decree, the Supreme Court has rendered that obsolete. The Supreme Court has nullified Articles I and II and taken governance unto itself. Not content to simply modify the laws, the Supremes are now redefining the Constitution itself by fiat.

History will judge the wars of the last thirteen years as the battle of the titans against fleas and gnats. Despite the loss of 3,000 civilians and the twin towers, the terrorists’ threat to the existence of the United States was nil. Yet we have just lost a major portion of our liberties – not from the muzzle of a gun, but from the stroke of a pen.”
