Oh no you did not Ms. Chips. :) :) :)
But it’s Nerdy’s post COS, so my actions were entirely moral - and triumphant. —-> :star:
I can accept that Chips. :)
Well I cannot - *she* uploaded it! Don’t let her bamboozle you, COS ;)
Foul. You posted it. You had inside knowledge. Therefore you are not first. COS is first. Stop cheating, Chips.
Hey NW.
Hey, COS.
Hey!
Thanks a traaaaaaaaaaaabillion Nerdy!
You’re welcome.
Ah damn! I just assumed I was behind the curb and go distracted. Then I finally did scroll and saw “Leave a comment”.

Well, Dudette, there are those who could be contenders and are contenders and there are the rest of us Terry Malloys who never make it to the top. It’s a good club, though.

One of these days - when you are not too busy & if there are not too many steps to it - you’ve got to teach me how to cut a video for exactly the portion you want.
Girl, I wish I DID know how to do that. I just find stuff on YouTube that works. :-)
 TY though.
Stuff I find there usually has more than I want to share/say when I’m trying to make a point. Case in point, see the end of this video (I don’t want the slap as I find it’s ‘too much’, but don’t know how to slash it off.)
I see what you mean. :-)

Political Twitter was transfixed earlier today with what reporters described as a pandemonium that erupted on a Thad Cochran press call over a question about the campaign “harvesting black votes” like black people harvested cotton. And now there’s audio.

It’s interesting to note that there is not one woman member of Congress at the signing of the Civil rights Act. We’ve still got a very long way to go to achieve equality in the US congress, but such a momentous signing would be a different picture today.
There would be no such signing if it were today. Remember what kind of Congress we have right now.
Witness the kinda crap going on around the “debate” over immigration reform today.

London musician Aleksander Kolkowski is giving new life to a dying musical format—by turning it into an even older format. His idea: repurpose the compact disc to play like its musical predecessor, the vinyl record. “I’m taking the optical digital back to analogue,” he says. Using a modified Wilcox-Gay Recordette—a 1950s home stereo and recording device—Kolkowski cuts grooves into a CD, making it playable on a turntable. The re-engineered CD plays at 45 rotations per minute for up to two minutes and 50 seconds. The audio result is “a nice, warm sound, like it’s been remastered through an overdriven tube amplifier.”….
….His CD-Recycled 45rpm project is part of a larger series of work having to do with repurposing, remaking, and recreating, including an installation at the Science Museum in London called The Exponential Horn. For the exhibit, Kolkowski helped reconstruct a 1930s loudspeaker to broadcast newly-created sounds, music, and spoken word, in an exploration of its original intention to establish a benchmark in audio quality. He’s also recreating one of the first-ever recordings of a symphony onto wax discs in a project for the Royal College of Music. “In 1913, in Germany, one of the very first attempts was made to record a whole symphony. We are re-enacting that recording session using wax discs. No one has actually attempted a full orchestra using a wax recording lathe before, so it’s a serious research project, as well as a lot of fun.”
Kolkowski, who collects string and wind instruments as well as gramophone and phonograph players, says he’s always been interested in early recording formats and has “a fascination with the listening experience.” “As a sound artist, I’m interested in using antiquated audio technology to challenge notions of obsolescence and, as well as making connections with the past, in giving a new perspective on our current relationship to recordings, amplification and digital sound.”
This is cool!
I thought so myself, MS. If I ever make it to London would love to check out his exhibit! …..always wished I had enough creativity to make a living as an artist & travel the world :)

Target did the right thing after all this time? Too bad they allowed guns in the first place, if they did.
I don’t know if anybody posted this, but Chris Rock’s monologue was pretty funny(many won’t get some of the jokes)……..the best riff was on Scandal FF to 3:30 mark:
“The real reason Scandal is such a hit is b/c every thursday at 10 america gets to tune in and there is a white president…..”
He was AWESOME. I watched it live and he was spilling truth, left, right, and center. When he interviewed white people about BET and what N.W.A. stands for and a white woman responded with “National White Association.” I almost choked on laughter. Chris’s WTF expression was gold and had me cracking up.
So wonderful to see him hosting again.
He’d be fantastic at the WHCD. (Desertflower’s wonderful idea)

Immigration Reform Can’t Wait http://online.wsj.com/articles/rupert-murdoch-immigration-reform-cant-wait-1403134311
There is rarely a good time to do hard things, and America won’t advance if legislators act like seat-warmers:
When I learned that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor had lost his Republican primary, my heart sank. Not simply because I think he is an intelligent and talented member of Congress, or because I worry about the future of the Republican Party. Like others who want comprehensive immigration reform, I worried that Mr. Cantor’s loss would be misconstrued and make Congress reluctant to tackle this urgent need. That would be the wrong lesson and an undesirable national consequence of this single, local election result. People are looking for leadership—those who stand for something and offer a vision for how to take America forward and keep our nation economically competitive. One of the most immediate ways to revitalize our economy is by passing immigration reform………
Shouldn’t the image in the Fox graphic be a Native American, rather than the Statue of Liberty, to go with “Defending the Homeland”?
I’ve always HATED Bush’s use of the term “homeland,” after 9/11, anyway. So reminiscent of Nazi Germany to me. Just my own personal opinion.

I was not pleased with the bumbling answers given by Gov. Howard Dean and Steve Schmidt on Lawrence’s show tonight, regarding the Murietta issue. Was especially disappointed with Howard Dean. Schmidt always play that both sides crap.
The part was in the end they were taken to San Ysidro and was warmly greeted along the roadside. I am glad they saw not everyone is mean and heartless as those Murrieta assholes.
Thank you Nerdy for the fun and fantastic post! I have been out for the last few hours so this was fun to see as I checked back in woo hoo, I made the front page lol. NASA carbon observatory finally reaches space: Let the CO2 hunt begin!
The rocket launched at 2:56 am PDT this morning from Vandenberg AFB, near Santa Barbara at Point Conception.

This is what NASA tweeted:
You’re right. Tell ’em!
Good to read that Target gained some sanity - BUT - I would think this wasn’t for the benefit of its customers, rather for the benefit of the bottom line - Target sales must have been hurting.
Of course. First they let millions of customers credit card info get stolen around Christmas time, now this. I’m one of those people who’s bank forced them to replace their card as a precaution. I haven’t shopped there since. Then they’ll letting people walk around with weapons of war through their aisles? They had no choice but to relent. The fact that they took so long to stop that madness shows just how insincere they were about caring for the customers “experience.” Fuck them.
Used to love that store. For years. I don’t plan on going there ever again.

one item before departing …
Yes indeed, Bob! As always you are so good at going to the heart of the matter while using very few words. We must never let right wing ideologues, media pundits, and the Bill Clinton worshipers, forget the reality that President Obama faced, from day one of his presidency.
This might be one of the strangest games ever. The last place Chicago Cubs in Boston and they trounce the Red Sox. I mean the Sox are bad, awfully bad this year with a record the same as the Cubs but the Sox are in the American League East so the Cubs are like a farm team in comparison (sorry Cubs fans I’m a Cubs fan too but facts are facts). The Cubs have trouble scoring more than 1 or 2 runs a game. WTH.

Brava, Dudette! You are truly a lady of all seasons! I know you may have gone to sleep by now, but I wanted to thank you for sharing great music, and for sharing positive information on the Obama economy. Here is my personal anecdote about the Obama economy. Today I got a letter, dated June 30, 2014, from the Assessor’s Office, informing me that the value of my home, from January 1, 2026 to January 1, 2014, went up by 26%. In some areas in San Diego, the letter said, some home values have gone up 33%. This, of course, means that my property taxes will go up. Fortunately, the increase will only be 2%, which is not unbearable. But believe me, I am so delighted, and thankful to President Obama’s economy, that the value of my home has gone up.
Thank YOU Nath! Music just feeds me in so many ways. I’m glad I have TOD to share it.
I’m also delighted at the resurgence of our economy under President Obama. I laughed out loud when I got my last property tax increase too, because it meant the value of my house had risen back to what it was before the economy tanked. One of my cousins thought I was nuts. She doesn’t get how that means the local economy is recovering. You try to explain stuff to some folks. Not everyone gets it. I keep trying though. :-)
A good thread on BJ - but this comment is the best - has to be a TODer in disguise
