MooOOOoorrniiinng Chica! One of these days I’m going to get you a clock with a zapper to zap you and an attached spy camera that somehow chimes in my room too when you start moving towards the village. They make everything these days, so why not that?

Good Wednesday morning, TODvillage! Despite its ups and downs, LIFE *is* good!

I see SW and NCLB opened the village gates this morning – you both have done a mah-vel-lous job to start the day! May the rest of your day be as enterprising.

      Good Morning VC! Thanks!

I think you mentioned you have a couple of meetings today. Hope they’re not too taxing and that you will be able to enjoy the rest of your day.

No, I don’t think they will be taxing (fingers crossed), SW – one’s to meet a new youth counselor to discuss ‘the teenage mind’ and I’m hoping it’ll be no more than 30-45 mins. If we click, she’ll be a resource contact going forward. We’ll see.

Good morning Chips and TODers. Yesterday was information overflow day. You step out for an appointment or errand and when you come back, you’re so far behind you can’t catch up. Of well, all that running should be good for us, I guess.

‘You step out for an appointment or errand and when you come back, you’re so far behind you can’t catch up.’

Story of my life over the past week or so! Now I’m resigned to being only partially ‘with it’. TOD’s ‘partially’ informed is way better than the MSM’s 24/7! ;) ;)

For those keeping score, Republican PA Gov Corbett continues to sink behind Dem Wolf. In latest poll, he would lost by 25 percent in a matchup with Wolf if election were held today. Corbett is one of the most despised governors in Pa history.

Vicki, it’s a BIG deal for PA to overcome its unbroken history of electing a governor twice and then switching parties for the next eight years. If PA voters break the tradition this year, it will be an historic first! Long time PA politicos are saying that this “tradition” is Wolf’s real opponent in November. That’s why nothing is over until it’s over.

The British government dealt a strong blow to creationists last week when they clarified and extended their laws banning creationism in the classroom to not only free schools, but to academies as well.

Academies, including free schools, are the UK’s version of the charter schools in the US, and there were concerns that, since academies are often run by religious organizations who taught and endorsed creationism in the classroom, kids who attend them were not being taught actual science.

The scientific community put heavy pressure on the British government to extend a similar law passed in 2012, which did not apply to free schools nor all academies and allowed some older schools already teaching creationism to grandfather their questionable curriculum in.

With this new ruling, “[…] The Government has extended such an explicit rule to all new Academies and Free Schools and made it clear that it believes that existing rules mean that no Academy or Free School can teach pseudoscience,” said Pavan Dhaliwal, The British Humanist Association’s Head of Public Affairs explained in the press release.

In the US however, the battle to bring creationism and intelligent design into the classroom is alive and well.

Once again I have to repeat this, I, anniebelle says to hell with the polls. Polls can be manipulated for them to say exactly what the pollsters want it to say. When Barack Obama took over for G.W. Bush this country was in a dam messed, some won’t admit it but things are better. And they would be alot better if it wasn’t for the racists right wing Tea Party Republicans, that include their racists base.

      • 36 anniebella

      July 2, 2014 at 9:10 am

Jovie, I’m sure the president would put these poll results exactly where they belong–in the circular file by his desk. I could conduct a poll and get the opposite results because these things are meaningless. In my father’s day, there were many people who hated FDR and would have said he was the worst president ever. Half of the US as we know it today hated Abraham Lincoln and thought he was a traitor and tyrant. I’ll bet he had a droll remark to make about that.

Racism..hatred….have always been intertwined in the fabric of our country…Despite the words of the Constitution…it took the Amendments to begin to make the words a reality ….and YET we have a SCOTUS redefining the meaning of those words…it will take WE the People to redefine it again….

The only thing the media is interested in covering is PBO’s totally made up and woefully inaccurate poll numbers.
As if anyone in this age of “Media is a Crock of Shit” enlightened age will vote or not vote based on statistics from Fairytale Land.

In recent cycles the RW Corporate Media tried to squelch our candidates by announcing how much was spent against them. Not Just our candidates. Anyone they don’t favor.
Thad Cochran is a good example of how That strategy does not work.

Added to the list of Carly Fiorina, Meg Whitman, Jeff Greene(FL), Christine Quinn—-I can’t think of the others.

The American peopl are wising up and will vote for the candidates that speak to their own interests.
And we will win in Novemeber.

BRAVA Vicki. Your comment ought to be front-paged. Apparently many people read TOD regularly – many people who do not post. We need to let lurkers (whether or not they support PBO) that we ain’t buying the crap the media has been peddling. If the media wants to continue fooling their shrinking minority of Teabag and RW libertarian fools, let them do so. But the majority of the American people stand behind our President and we are not allowing the dishonest media to dictate our support for our President, our Dem congressional candidates, and our inspiration to vote in November.

New rule – No opinion polls. opinions ≠ facts. polls = bullshit

    • July 2, 2014 at 9:33 am

As I said on yesterday, we should continue to take our cue from PBO and brush-off the distractions. The polls are one of a number of distractions. Just like the faux scandals, the truth to them non-existent; questionable at best.

I know that wasn’t asked my opinion as I’m sure millions of other people weren’t.

Again, many of you don’t understand the severe polarization in this country. When All republicans vote no against obama in polls, you get desired result.
Just plug in your question, and viola.
One third of the poll was republicans.
    Who is worst president evah?
    33% said obama!
    You see?

    • 84 hopefruit2
      July 2, 2014 at 9:24 am

Jovie this country is no where as polarized as this fraudulent polling suggests. I’m looking at the crosstabs of the polls cited, and i’m telling you right now the samples are grossly unrepresentative. If the sample is not representative of the country as a whole, you cannot make a statement about the country based on a polling sample of 900-1000 people!

There is a REASON why these pollsters have selected these samples…

      • July 2, 2014 at 9:28 am

All republicans vote no or against this president. That’s a fact. And you know it.

        • 86 hopefruit2
          July 2, 2014 at 9:30 am

Republican “opinions” are not the majority of this country. That’s a fact. And you know it.

        • 89 hopefruit2
          July 2, 2014 at 9:33 am

Secondly, at least 50% of the Republican so-called “opposition” is not to PBO’s policies/agenda, but to his skin color/race. That’s a fact, and you know it. But the pollsters NEVER ever qualify this very critical part of the equation. They instead present it as general and justified opposition to PBO’s policies/agenda. And that’s FRAUDULENT!!!

      • July 2, 2014 at 9:28 am

” you cannot make a statement about the country based on a polling sample of 900-1000 people!”

        This.

        • July 2, 2014 at 9:49 am

Although they don’t want to admit it, gone are the days where the MSM/Pollsters can dictate how people should think. Most people don’t see the MSM as the end-all be-all for information. We know there are other sources– sources that are more factual and accurate.

But unfortunately, there are still those who take what is said in the MSM as gospel and those are the people to whom those polls are directed.

          July 2, 2014 at 10:31 am

Based on the Central Limit Theorem you could (poll a 1000 people to get representation of a population) but certain conditions should apply for the CLT to hold true

      • July 2, 2014 at 10:16 am

        “… based on a polling sample of 900-1000 people…”

Obviously, that sample doesn’t include the *over* 900 – 1000 + people who stand in line and attend the various events where the President speaks.

Still bummed out about the match yesterday. True, US deserved to lose, based on overall play. But they were in perfect position to use my strategy of scoring in stoppage time and having Howard sit on the ball. Just couldn’t put it in the net. Then to almost make up the two goal deficit in extra time.

Proud of the team. They are young and will be a force in the next WC.
