Oops! Clicked too fast. Meant to ask how your day has been progressing, JO’B & CC.
Beautifully. And gorgeously.
Thumbs up! Just as it should be! Is ggs anxiously awaiting the fireworks display or will he be fast asleep by then?
He’s out at a picnic by the lake with the extended family. This is the first year he says he actually wants to go see the fireworks – they scared him before!
This is what I’m waiting for:
I can"t wait for it to get dark! http://t.co/3BTRa8B8lV— Reta Coffman (@Retacof) July 04, 2014
Well, here’s hoping he does enjoy it …..once it gets dark.
Cut it out, now, you two!
Congrats on 1st Jacqueline and Happy 4th!!
Happy 4th, Bob!
Look at President Obama rocking a cool shirt.
Someone’s stepping his style game up.
But it’s not pink! cc Bob.
He decided to go the diplomatic route to prevent TOD war.
:D :D :D
You mean it isn’t coral? :) :) :)
gm from my world to all the beautiful ladies – have I arrived in time to see the fireworks?
Mornin’ 99ts – you have many hours to wait before fireworks in Seattle; it does not get dark enough for the display until around 10:00pm, and it’s only 3:00 now! Yawning already, a 5:30 start makes for a loooonnnggg day!
Hi MP – In that situation, I would probably go to bed & get up for the fireworks. :)

Most assuredly this is MP ~ my kitty totally owns me, and I have no objection, in fact, I am honored! I sure wish she was feeling better, this part is really tough. And my work is helping others die. Sheesh. So many blessings!
Don’t think of the dying part today. Think of how much joy she brings you – I feel sure you are doing your very best to ensure she is not in pain and that she feels your love!

Don’t they look nice coming down those stairs.
They certainly do! They lift my heart every time I see them.
Wow Ms Chips – your twitter is the Obama Diary in pictures for the ages – nothing else needed.
:-) Don’t they look beautiful 99ts?!
Beyond beautiful – there are no words – only a picture can describe that moment in time.
Come to think of it, that could be a candidate for the July – Picture of the month. What do y’all think?
Here’s the reminder from an earlier post today,
JUST A REMINDER: Picture of the Month
A couple weeks ago ‘the village’ (Well, okay, a few people from the village  ) decided to start a ‘picture of the month’ file where at the end of the month we choose two pics by (more or less) majority consensus. I volunteered said at the time I’d gladly keep a record of the pics [We, I'm sure, don't want to add something ELSE to CC's load] so that at year’s end we can have fun fighting over our pic of the year. We do already have two candidates for the month of June, but I have a vague memory suggesting that we might go backwards for now to cover the months January to May. I think this weekend might be a good time to start the catch-up process.
Now sure yet how best to do this, but here’s my initial thought. When you have a spare moment…..
1. ✈ ✈…. wrack your mind and remember a picture in the previous months [May -April - March - February - January] that grabbed you by the throat.
2. ✈ ✈….Search through the TOD archives and locate the pic.
3. ✈ ✈… Give me the link and I’ll copy the pic into my new ‘Picture of the Year’ file.
If you have a more efficient method (that does not include Chips…no offense CC, simply trying to leave you ‘free’ for now as *YOU* will likely be the one creating the “poll” at year’s end), I’m all ears! Thank you in advance for your submissions.

Top of the charts. These two lovely people are leading the evolutionary chain. Thankfully.
I adore Dr. Biden.

Dr. Biden is a sweet heart too. Bless her.
I have a good memory of a 4th July in DC. I was there as a college student working in the Office of Ecological Environmental Education. A friend and I decided to walk down to the Mall to see the Beach Boys performing. (It was 1970). Along the way we met the daughter of a Greek diplomat. Her family’s presence may have had something to do with the military junta that had just taken over the Greek government. Anyway we walked together, got there, found a good place to sit and proceeded to wait for the Beach Boys to show up. She kept asking us “What do you do to celebrate?” We said, “We watch the Beach Boys and then the fireworks!” She said, “No singing, no dancing?” “Umm, no, pretty much just watching…” Then they announced that the Beach Boys would not be coming but Bob Hope would be there instead. The younger people in the crowd were pretty upset (I remember hearing that the Beach Boys were too controversial…) and being the ’70’s they got pretty vocal. Soon some police fired off tear gas not far from us to ‘control’ the crowd. We saw one boy carried away who had been too close when the cannister went off. Then we decided that maybe this was time for us to leave. So, no singing, no dancing, no Beach Boys, no fireworks, but still — tear gas. Happy 4th of July, Greek diplomats daughter! (It’s really one of my best 4th memories.)
One of your ‘best 4th memories’, or one of the most memorable?
Well, both really. I remember feeling (and still feel) that the singing and dancing she described and expected would add greatly to our celebrations. That whole internship was quite a high point.
Okay, but you didn’t get them, so that’s why I was puzzled at your ‘best’ description. Anyhoo, your internship was good and you have great long-lasting memories. :) :) Happy July 4th, 2014!
I see your puzzlement and I’m trying to explain it to myself. I guess because it was really different.
Goodness, Maryl, I had forgotten about this convo! I’m suddenly reminded of the good OLD days when WordP never had the notification and you couldn’t tell if someone had answered you or not unless you tracked back to wherever you had asked a question or made a comment.
Haha! I know I comment or ask questions on other sites and never know if I’ve got a response because I always forget to check.
Maryl1, that would have been shortly after Kent State, right? I was already in Canada, but things were heating up in the USA.
Yes, the Kent State shootings happened on May 4th. Things were pretty tense around the country. It was also the first Earth Day. Our office made a gigantic Earth Day flag and spent the day out on the Mall passing out information and chatting and getting sunburned.
“Tin soldiers and Nixon coming, we’re finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming, 4 dead in Ohio.” That incredible era was when people took a stand. Too many who could have made a huge difference for The Greater Good copped out and went down the dark path of money and dark power. Too many from our generation chose destruction and violence. But many more chose good and Light, and we have never wavered from sharing good will towards all wherever we have been.
Very true, MP.

Feel weak. *Very* large locust landed on James Rodriguez's arm during today's World Cup quarter-final. Oh gawd. http://t.co/wmfZCs7k5A— TheObamaDiary.com (@TheObamaDiary) July 04, 2014
I would have freaked – I hate creepy, crawly, flying, jumping ….creatures! He sees unaware though, so that was good, right?
I didn’t even notice during the game VC, now I’m actually weak at the knees
I hear you. I react that way whenever creatures/insects, especially those that fly, come anywhere near me!
OH. HELL. NO.
I would’ve freaked the fuck out.
Bugs need to stay in their own milieu and by milieu, I mean stay the heck away from humans. And by humans, I mean ME.
I mean stay the heck away from humans. And by humans, I mean ME.
Cannot believe this one followed the picture of POTUS and FLOTUS – your documentation of history died with a bug and a ball – sigh :)
That locust just wanted to get in on the action. I’m nice to bugs—-they have a role to play too, ya know. :) Cept earwigs—-I’m mean to those guys—–I squish ‘em. They eat my plants, and I make them pay. I say “sorry” when I’m doing it tho. So—-kinda nice.
Dotster, The Earwig Terminator!!!! :-)
You can be nice to them anytime with my blessing. I’d even channel the ones near me your way in a gesture of friendliness – give you more to be nice to Dotster.
OMG. GQ has nothing on them.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has noted this interesting, universal phenomenon——-all Obama critics are bad spellers. I have 2 such dummies living across the street from me, sadly. The mrs. unit proudly proclaimed on facebook today, “Happy Forth of July! God bless our troups!” Ay yi yi yi yi. One might conclude that this segment of the pop. is just not that bright.
Yes world, this is the President and First Lady of the United States of America. GQ has nothing on them. #4thofJuly http://t.co/Niaqb5IXYY— Nerdy Wonka (@NerdyWonka) July 04, 2014
