I have come to the conclusion that I will stop listening to these cable pundits concerning the immigrants crisis, they all know what POTUS should do and how he should handle it. I was disappointed in Richard Wolfe tonight on Lawrence O’Donnell show.

Seem like these folks are having a dam fit cause President Obama won’t go to the border.

      • July 9, 2014 at 11:25 pm

They’re entertainers first and foremost. So they want to see entertainment. They want to see theatre. Symbolism. Oh… they know the president is working on the problem. But what they want is IMAGES. I’m always amazed at how shallow they are. Secretary Johnson going to the border FIVE times isn’t enough for them. No they just want the President to go by himself. Even if he doesn’t learn anything new.

I also was disappointed Richard too. It seems that no one is allowed to say anything good about this President. I did like the rest of LOD’s show, especially the lady that testified in front of the Repubs.

Just received a couple emails from the DCCC. To their credit, they haven’t been quite as hair on fire lately, though I am sure that will change. Lately they have been working more from the angle of indignation rather than fear.

The headline of this email was:

BREAKING: NBC NEWS is reporting that your grassroots support could force Boehner to drop his lawsuit against President Obama.

Obviously, the whole plea is, if we raise enough Boehner will see the folly of this and pull back.

The hell with that. I want him to go ahead and try to make the case for a lawsuit. In this case, the statement by Bush applies. “Bring it on.”

“It irritates me so much when people say, ‘Why don’t they just work together?’ ” Reid says. What this overlooks, he argues, is that “the Republicans made a decision . . . to oppose everything Obama wants.” It’s in the GOP’s interest to keep things from happening because it plays into a simple narrative that Reid described this way: “Democrats control the Senate. We have a Democrat in the White House. Why can’t you get things done?”

The result: “They won’t let us vote on things that the vast majority of the American people want a vote on.”

“It’s so bad around here,” Reid adds, “that they filibuster their own bills.”

    • July 9, 2014 at 11:12 pm

Yes, PBO did exactly that…..put the onus on Perry and the Republicans to DO something. I think Perry began to realize that, and that is why he has that pout on his face in the picture. Or maybe not…..I’m not sure Perry is smart enough to realize that he got played, which he did.
The silliness about going “to the border” will pass, and people will actually begin to expect action. Even. Miss Lindsey knows they’d better do something.

If Corporations are legally ‘people’– separate from the owner, how could the owners impose their personal beliefs on the corporation? The High Court (and by high, i mean they’re smoking something) seems to be saying their is no separation. If true, articles of incorporation which limit personal liability of owners, shareholders and employees have no viability. If that is true, then those owners and shareholders can be individually sued.

If Health Insurance BENEFITS are part of a salary compensation, taking legally mandated contraception from the coverage without reimbursing those women is tantamount to wage theft. If that is true, shouldn’t they be able to petition the Labor Board for redress?

If Churches, which are TAX EXEMPT, should N.O.T. be allowed to discriminate against women or anyone else. Women, including those only making minimum wage, pay for the taxes Churches and other non-profits DO NOT PAY.

My belief is that NO Corporation or Institution should have an exemption, including ‘religious’ organizations. Aside from the fact that most of their ‘science’ is faulty, no other woman/man should have the ‘right’ to override MY RIGHT to make personal PRIVATE health decisions, N.O.T.   E.V.E.N   C.L.E.R.G.Y.

Tax EXEMPT Churches have N.O. right 2 discriminate against women who work 4 them. Those women help pay 4 that tax EXEMPTION. .@msnbc @edshow— ZL (@laughingzebra) July 10, 2014

.@USSupremeCourt Corporations are not people. Money is not speech. Democracy is not for sale @SenatorReid @NancyPelosi @BarackObama— ZL (@laughingzebra) July 10, 2014

The best way to understand a corporation is to imagine it as a separate artificial person (with limited rights and privileges). Incorporating a business is essentially creating that separate person thereby making the business separate from the owner (in a sense, the business has a life of its own). As a separate entity, the corporation exists independent from the shareholders/owners and its employees.

If there is any justice in the world, Hobby Lobby would be sued for every ‘nickel and dime’ they used, to pay their lawyers, to impose their religiously objectionable, morally and ethically views on the women who are employed by them. And the Court would order damages to all plaintiffs, in a verdict that would amount to the value of all their worldly possessions. Then they could lived the life Jesus thought would be ‘perfect’.

Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”–Matthew 19:21

I couldn’t agree more, zekke, and I think there will be legal consequences to Hobby Lobby’s immoral act that will stun them. In the meantime, it would only take a Democratic House and Senate to reverse this decision and that’s what we have to give our heart and soul to achieving.
