The Indiana state house is absolutely bananas…..Led by Gov. Mike Pence. The day he stepped down as the #3 in the House of Rep. I knew he was going to run for President. He is the greatest illusionist since Houdini…has everyone fooled. Somehow Indianapolis is the 2nd largest city w/ a GOP Mayor…..basically party ticket voting for Pence got him there, but he is in trouble now. The U.S. attorney for the Southern District just resigned Monday http://www.indystar.com/story/news/politics/2014/07/14/hogsett-resigning-us-attorney/12621475/ and has a good chance to be Mayor Ballard. I never thought I would look at the days of Mitch Daniels favorably….he got us a Super Bowl & now is President of Purdue University. I didn’t live in the state when Evan Bayh was Gov. and thank god Joe Donnelly won his Senate seat b/c of a nut job Tea Party guy Richard Mourdock. To be a statewide D in Indiana you have to be pretty conservative, but Donnelly does not take pot shots at President Obama. Basically there is no bench here….Rep. Andre Carson has the most name recognition, but he is an African American Muslim…..not going to fly statewide sadly. I don’t know if you can run for Gov. & President in Indiana…..so when Pence runs….maybe there will be an opening, but I’m sure Evan Bayh will run again……he still has 10+ million in campaign cash that he never helped national D’s w/ after not running in 2012.
I read Pence’s pathetic response to a question about the increased gun violence in Indy, and elsewhere, as of late. He said something like ‘yes, it’s a real shame but we have to protect 2nd amendment rights——gotta go overseas now. bye.’

I don’t know Jackie, but what worries me is just like in the U.S. we can’t control what some gun nut does……the IDF/Bibi will claim any rocket launched is a ‘Hamas’ rocket justifying any further escalation. So even if ‘official’ Hamas says/does one thing… they don’t control the actions of everybody in Gaza. It is a sad story that has been repeating itself for far too long.

Your comment brings to mind that Malcolm X quote that is posted on this site periodically. Here is a thought experiment. What if the U.S. responded to the terror attack in Benghazi that killed four Americans by indiscriminate bombing of Libya resulting in almost 250 deaths (including 4 kids playing soccer)? Add to that it appeared that those kids were hit on purpose. Or the U.S. bombed a hospital for disabled people? Would you be saying the U.S. and Libya are equally to blame? If not, why the double standard for Israel? Because the MSM says so? Let’s not forget the shelling of Lebanon that Israel unleashed after an Israeli soldier was killed. The reaction of Israel in these situations are over the top by any human measure. There is a bloodlust that is undeniable. Add to that the constant theft of land, and I find it difficult to agree with the premise that “both sides are to blame”.
Eric, this is very well said and I agree with you completely. We are blessed to have a leader whose response to crises is measured, intelligent and appropriate, despite all the calls from the clueless and violence prone to bring out the big guns of revenge. Israel is cursed with the opposite leadership. Overreact to everything, make the worst of a difficult situation and cause maximum damage and tragedy. It is up to the Israeli people to change this because it will not end well for them if this goes on. There is no future in continued violence and there is not future in repression and apartheid.
Dudette, I’m glad that there’s some humanitarian relief, but it is never going to be enough for daily life. Michigan has to find a permanent solution that doesn’t involve depriving people of a life source.

I just wanted to say something about Jonathan Turley who testified in support of the lawsuit against PBO today——said Congress “must act” to support this lawsuit. I keep seeing him identified as “a liberal Democrat”. Well—-in all my years of observing him, my opinion is he is as much a liberal Democrat as is Rand Paul. Turley is a libertarian, just like the Paul boys. And I saw that he said today that he “voted for Obama”, in an effort to give his negative Obama testimony more credence. I do not believe that for a minute. I know he lied about that. If he has ever said anything positive about PBO I haven’t heard it. He has been a constant Obama critic from the get go, from 2008 on——every TV appearance that I have ever seen. I think he’s a dishonest fraud.
Yup - as I said before, Surley Turley is a Libertarian hack! And people who truly support our President don’t need to preface their actions/words with “I voted for Obama” That is a dead giveaway that someone is full of it.

An unexplained Gigantic Sink Hole in Serbia? Wow…..scary, indeed.

A huge unexplained crater has appeared in Siberia, Northern Russia.
The Gas rich area where the hole was discovered – which is the main production area for Russian gas supplies to Europe – is called Yamal which translates to ”end of the world”.
The strange emergence of the hole has resulted in internet theories ranging from a possible UFO landing to a large meteor striking the earth.
The most plausible of the theories is that global warming caused an underground explosion due to melting ice, resulting in a mixture of gas, salt and water which could have ignited and exploded. This would explain the darkened sides of the hole which could be burn marks.
