Great Tweet. But not in USA. Delusion is most comforting to our Media, the TBGOPers and yes, to many emoprogs and their Libertarian comrades.

As Jack Nicholson once said in a Movie: You can’t handle the truth. Not you HF2 :) Us as a nation.

      That is Us…..USA…in a nutshell.

In. U. doctoral student from Amsterdam was on the Malaysian flight. So many talented, accomplished people lost, including all those top AIDS researchers. So many sad stories—-like the 3 Australian kids flying home with their grandfather while their parents remained in Amsterdam on holiday—–and the 3 infants—–and the “close to 100 children” etc. etc.

GOOGLE remembered July 18th, 1918 as Madiba’s DOB.

    That was lovely.

      • July 18, 2014 at 11:55 am

The Irish and poor of European countries suffered from bigotry too. Were abused. Beaten up by police. Catholics and Jewish people were shunned. We tend to forget it because the arc of justice has curved for them so that it may be subtle now, if there.

NBC News has been mostly silent since it pulled reporter Ayman Mohyeldin from Gaza earlier this week, but criticism of the decision has only gotten louder.

Mohyeldin, the network’s widely respected foreign correspondent, was a first-hand witness to the Israeli attack on Wednesday that killed four young boys who were playing soccer on a beach in Gaza.

On Twitter, Mohyeldin’s powerful descriptions of the tragedy went viral. In one tweet, he recounted that he was “kicking a ball” with the victims moments before the strike.

But Mohyeldin’s Twitter feed has been inactive since Wednesday and, although he provided his eyewitness account that morning on the “Today” show, he was conspicuously absent from that evening’s broadcast of “NBC Nightly News.”

Instead, it was NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel who reported on the Gaza attack from his location in Tel Aviv, a decision that reportedly left some staffers miffed.

This incident just got “too messy” for them and they pulled away from reporting real news, heartbreaking news, news of truth and inconvenience because of who was involved and who benefits/funds/ etc. It’s not truth…but it IS sterilized to suit some, isn’t it? Cowards. They can’t handle the truth, and if they can’t, they shouldn’t be in the business of news. The TRUTH is they couldn’t “spin” what he said, they couldn’t spin away his moment with the kids on the beach moments before.

What Reagan succeeded at is making americans believe in fantasy. The fantasy of an omnipotent USA. While in REALITY The “most powerful country of the world” is indeed powerful but can’t CONTROL everything !!

Americans have to GROW UP. And acknowledge that the world is very complex. That POWER is SHARED.

Important note: The USSR collapsed mostly ON ITS OWN and it’s foolish to attribute that to Reagan. That Reagan is responsible for the “win” of the cold war is a MYTH. And as far as Reagan goes, everything about him is a MYTH.

But WHY that MYTH ? Again, because Reagan told americans what they wanted to hear; he was very good at making americans feel good about their country. He sold the FANTASY. And boy, was he also good at playing the daddy who would protect the american “children” from harm.

Barack Obama has infinitely more wisdom, more understanding of the world, more understanding of what the role of the USA can be. He doesn’t treat americans like children, but like adults. He has worked like crazy to make americans GROW UP and embrace the REALITY of the 21th century world, while suggesting a realistic path for american leadership in the world. A leadership based on VALUES, not fear or control. A leadership aimed at building a more JUST, PEACEFUL world. A leadership based on the most PROFOUND of american values: the empowerment of individuals combined with a sense of community.

Barack Obama is the real deal. Reagan was just a MIRAGE.

The same fool who told Us that GW Bush made the right decision? The same SOB who wanted a Surge and decimated those who didn’t agree with him? The same Know-Nothing who was confused about Sunnis and Shiites? Seriously? And the puppet media is still booking him night and day. Shame!

WOW!! Powerful words from President Obama. He laid it on the line quite clearly. Putin is supporting this. If it stops the rebels will have to deal with it politically. And that MH17 shows that the war is not confined to Ukraine. Europe and allies will have to deal with it. Thank God for President Obama. Measured, compassionate, wise. I have endless respect and love for him.

For this time of crisis when there are tweets to me or in my timeline that express their support for President Obama and they don’t send them to @BarackObama, I retweet it to him so that President Obama and staff can experience how much love and support he has.

Watch this become a priority for GOP?

  45. 118 dotster3
    July 18, 2014 at 6:37 pm

I saw muscatinegal crabbing about all the horrible GOP pres. candidates polluting her space in Iowa. Which reminds me of a thought I’ve had recently——we need more presidential candidates. We need them in the early states——delivering the Democratic message—–doing some truth telling so the public and the media in those states don’t only hear and report Repub lies. It was an advantage in 2008 to have all those candidates promoting Dem ideals——-and fanning out into other states to campaign for the Dem candidates there, currying favor. I just think it’s a big advantage to have more candidates swarming states, giving Dem speeches. Hope Hillary doesn’t scare other possibilities away—-as it appears currently—-think having only one candidate is a huge mistake, a big disadvantage. And I want a choice.
