“flight restrictions are a mistake that hand Hamas an undeserved victory and should be lifted immediately”

A possible means to a ceasefire ‘hands Hamas an undeserved victory’? No thought for the possible ‘victory’ it might bring to civilians? I guess Bloomberg and others like him only see Hamas; average Palestinians don’t count.

      • July 22, 2014 at 9:04 pm

He is a media attention, power hungry, whore. He changed NYC law just to run for a 3rd term…he will never be remembered for anything significant. Israel gave him their highest civilian honor this year + a million dollars to go along with it. I guess it was a good investment on their part…..they need all the good press they can get right now.

Good investment indeed! Even with all his own money, Bloomberg could still be bought! /smh/

One of my hopes right now is that a consequence of Israel’s going on a murdering spree when they really didn’t need to will be that a) Americans will say ‘Enough’s enough’ to their unconditional support and b) increased international outrage will re rained upon Bibi’s head. IOW I hope these last couple of days in Gaza will launch a turning point in that part of the world.

He (Chris Hayes) was truly pathetic arguing with her. I guess he didn’t feel he needed to prepare to talk with a “girl” journalist who was cancelled then put back on the air due to a lot of heat from the public of the so-called liberal media censoring opposing views. She was not having any of his filibustering or saying both sides bullshit. I like the fact that she wanted to know why the media only wants Hamas on the shows and no other Palistinians.

    • 21 Nena20409
      July 22, 2014 at 8:49 pm

She didn’t. As I suspected that she would not.

I can guarantee you that this will be her last appearance for Hayes Knew he was pathetic in his defense for MSNBC.

Finally, social media is making a tad dent in informing the youth. It is still a way to go……But….change is Coming to Corporate media or they will be left in the dust.

      July 22, 2014 at 8:50 pm

Chris Hayes kept saying to Rula “the press only covers violence.” As some kind of excuse.

He doesn’t understand that living under siege for 7 years in Gaza, deprived of clean water, sufficient food or electricity, and wages withheld since hamas and fatah announced unity. A siege plus blockade, caged in.
That is violence that Gazans have been suffering from.

Not unlike the Warsaw Uprising got press back in WWII. Quiet starvation and desperation, not so much.

        July 22, 2014 at 9:40 pm

Well said, Vicki. Thank you for describing the conditions in Gaza in such compelling terms.

    • July 22, 2014 at 8:51 pm

All democratic politicians are saying that Israel has right to defend itself but lost morale high ground, during the ground invasion.
      Not proportional.
A proportional strike is equivalent to what Hamas has done with the a rockets, or the Kidnapping from the tunnels into Israel etc.
But, not a full scale ground invasion, no holes barred.
That’s absurd. But, the American media sticks up for them, because $$$$$.

      • 25 nospin
        July 22, 2014 at 9:16 pm

The term “proportional” has been the meme overly used since yesterday.
Bottom line — What Israel is doing is morally corrupt and WRONG.

US tax dollars should not fund Israel’s wars.

I’m so happy to see that she held her ground tonight and kept her original stance on this issue. I’m actually pleasantly surprised because I thought the discussion would devolve in the usual MSNBC-esque way – especially on a show like #Innards.

I’m taking it at face value for now. But I also warn that we have to continue to be vigilant about where this is going, and what this journalist is being used for. I also noticed this – which is basically the basis for the concern I had, given the specific show she was going on.

Now, I don’t know if Hayes is just part of the ratfuckery and role-playing “devil’s advocate” to get her to say certain things, and then they will eventually converge on the same note with repeated invites and visits, or if it’s just coincidental. But we have to be vigilant. I don’t trust ANYTHING with this media.

BAGHDAD—Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is losing political support for his bid for a third term from core backers, including the country’s Shiite religious establishment and ally Iran, say Iraqi officials. The shift, officials said, is prompting members of the premier’s own alliance to reconsider their support and dimming the prospect of his stay in power. In recent days, high-level delegations of Iranian military officials and diplomats held a flurry of meetings in Baghdad and the Shiite religious capital Najaf, where they were told that Mr. Maliki, a Shiite, has lost the confidence of all but his most loyal inner circle, Iraqi officials with knowledge of the meetings said…..

…Also critically, Mr. Maliki’s bid to stay in office has, say prominent Shiite politicians, run into opposition from Iraq’s top Shiite spiritual authority, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, who has become central to the grinding talks between political blocs to form a government. The process, a complicated task of political jockeying that took months the last time around, was given new urgency by the Sunni militant campaign launched last month that has swallowed parts of Iraq and brought the country to the brink of disintegration. Ayatollah Sistani took the unusual step of sending a letter directly to Mr. Maliki’s office last week that made clear the cleric’s opposition to a third term, a message also made clear to the visiting Iranian officials, said three Iraqi politicians involved in the talks. Mr. Sistani’s letter was a sign that he believes the prime minister has become divisive even within his own Shiite support base and is unable to lead the country out of the latest crisis, several Shiite politicians said….

…Regional and Western powers hope that a more conciliatory government in Baghdad would hold Iraq together and push back the threat from Sunni radical militants. Many former supporters of Mr. Maliki, including the Obama administration, say that is no longer possible under his leadership. Influential Sunni factions now supporting the militant group, which calls itself Islamic State, say they would turn against the insurgency if Mr. Maliki steps aside and Sunnis are reintegrated into Iraq’s political order….

    While nobody was looking……… #TurstBarack

I had a wonderful family day yesterday – family love sure helps one face the politics of the right.

Hehe – our Premier lost big last Saturday – he is now saying he is “sorry” – but still doing lots of things everyone hates – election next year – his seat is gone – even if not the RW majority – so not all is bad.

And then I see Europe still wants to be friends with those who supported the shooting down of a civilian plane – calling it an “accident”. Deliberate slaughter – if you can’t identify a plane – you DON’T fire anyway!!

And Fox News telling everyone to blame Obama because they are going to get a massive health insurance bill – the LIES of the GOP and the media are mind boggling. They sure speak to the dumb.

Kerry is negotiating a cease fire…..and then what….who will help to build Palestine…there is no industry there….infrastructure…etc….they are an occupied people….and what will be the consequences for the loss of innocent life….

Breaking news… Peter Baker, @nytimes is an a**hole who wishes we could turn the clock back to the good old days of Bush-Cheney (he’s the author of “Days of Fire: Bush and Cheney in the White House”).

When he’s proven wrong he should be shown the exit door from “the paper of record.”

Here’s how he covered yesterday’s Brother’s Keeper event:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/22/us/politics/obamas-secret-to-handling-criticism-focus-and-no-tv.html?ref=politics

    From the article:

“But it was the question about criticism that seemed to touch on his current situation as he finds himself deep into his second term with low poll numbers, little if any chance of passing major legislation, a series of intractable international problems, and a cacophony of second-guessing every day in the halls of Congress and on cable television.”

    Here’s my response this sentence:

    Item 1: Low poll numbers

Says the over 65 rural whites which were overrepresented in the bogus survey which was worded to have responders select the worst possible position against the President.

Item 2: Little if any chance of passing major legislation

Check again, Peter Baker, after #LandslideDems2014

Item 3: A series of intractable international problems

That PBO is rectifying using the Obama Doctrine approach to be strategic, visionary and multi-national.

Item 4: A cacophony of second-guessing every day in the halls of Congress

This Congress has been in session fewer days than any other (not sure if this is true, but if not the fewest, close to it). Good luck in finding a Congress critter unless it’s the limelight seeking McCain, Lindsey Graham, Chuck Schumer , etc.

Jerk, just like Chris Cilizza of WaPo.

I know that many in TODville will not be moved by this video by the Dem candidate for US Senate in South Dakota, but I just loved it. Really spoke to my roots, and he’s the under-the-radar win that MSM pundits miss because they’re too busy bashing President Obama or navel-gazing, or both.

    From the July 18 article:
For the past year, Rick Weiland, the Democratic nominee and a former aide to Mr. Daschle who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 1996, has barnstormed the state, introducing himself to voters in every town and trying to make up enough ground to persuade his party in Washington not to abandon South Dakota for more competitive races.

    snip /

He rewrote the lyrics to the classic country tune “I’ve Been Everywhere” to throw another jab on the airwaves: “I said you can raise all your millions by the sack,” he sings, clutching an acoustic guitar in his latest television ad. “The time has come for us to take our country back.”

Voters seem to enjoy the musical approach; Republicans stopped Mr. Weiland on a recent afternoon of campaigning to say his cover of the song, most famously sung by Johnny Cash, was pleasantly stuck in their heads.

      Good evening Nena20409,
Hope you’re having a good one.

Thank you so much for posting. I didn’t want to listen to anything today when I got in, and especially when I started catching up on the posts. I figured the MSM would be dancing all over the place because of the ruling.

Miss Jebreal was awesome, and she held her own against Chris because he tries to out talk everyone. She showed a lot of compassion and she called out this bad journalism that MSM is trying to pass off as the real deal.

When Bibi stated on the Sunday George Stephanopoulos show, that he was grateful for the US support in this, I cringed because I felt like he was saying that we are with him in this blood bath. He made the rounds presenting one side. Several meetings are taking place in Florida for the support of Israel, and they are asking for money to send there. She was very correct in saying; all the shows are presenting Israel’s side and the people are not hearing bias reporting.

I wonder how long it take them to blackball her for speaking power to truth.
      Thanks again,
