CNN :18 killed and 200 wounded in strike at U.N. Shelter in Gaza. Was it Hamas or Israel? Terrible.

“It’s Time to Assign Blame For Everything Happening in Ukraine
    21:06 (GMT)

The evidence is now overwhelming — the militia in eastern Ukraine, backed by the Russian government and the Russian military, is responsible for the deaths of nearly 300 people who were on flight MH17. It’s now time for journalists to assign blame — and the international community to assign justice.

The Interpreter’s managing editor reports for Vice News:

If it weren’t for MH17, the Ukraine headline of the week would be the fact that my team at The Interpreter actually proved that Russia was shelling Ukraine with GRAD rockets. The Buks that shot down MH17 either came from Russia or would have needed a highly trained team of specialists (with matching launch key-cards), a crew that could have been trained only in the Russian military. Wednesday, separatists shot down two more Ukrainian military jets, so there are plenty more Russian anti-aircraft missiles still in rebel hands.

The veil has been dropped. Russia is driving this conflict, feeding the flames by providing the rebels with tanks, anti-aircraft missiles, fighters, and perhaps most importantly, cover in the international community.”

And keep in mind that this guy’s models tend to be on the conservative side…so if he is finding a “Dem” advantage in Kansas, that’s all we need to know about the GOP wave that the media has been trying to preach to us.

Netanyahu is going to learn about an old saying among recovering drug addicts; one is too many and a thousand is not enough. There aren’t enough bombs in the world to satisfy Netanyahu’s thirst.

I’ve been trying to figure out President Obama’ s play for the last couple of days. Russia is surging and purging ever deeper into the Ukraine. And Netanyahu has bombed Gaza almost out of existence. Yet President Obama is quietly going about his business. Could it be that President Obama is giving both Putin and Netanyahu all the rope they want?

    • July 24, 2014 at 8:32 pm

I do not know Don….I do not know…..but from watching the President’s moves in the past…I feel that something is afoot

I do believe he is Don. It is difficult to watch but it has to happen.

    • July 24, 2014 at 8:33 pm

I just don’t know what he can do about either situation, Don. Well, all funding to Israel could be cut off, but we know that’s not going to happen. As for Ukraine/Russia, short of Europe sending forces in, how can it be stopped? Too much damned dependency on Russian resources for most of Europe to do anything. I have no clue.

Throwing a wrench in Israel’s airline industry is one answer to how it could happen, Chips.

        • July 24, 2014 at 8:59 pm

Definitely Vicki, but I just don’t see the will to do it, lots of platitudes around the world about what’s happening in Gaza, but **** all being done about it.

Try Al jazeera. If it comes up Al Jazeera America (which sucks) read an article that is from a mid-eastern journalist. At some point you may be offered the choice to change your homepage to Al Jazeera English—which is the real deal. that’s what happened to me a week ago. I hope it works for you!

Thank you, meta. This is stupidity compounded on the part of Netanyahu. You DO NOT deny people the right to pray in a sacred place. The man is asking for the kind of trouble he will wish he never started.

Tonight Muslims are commemorating Laylat al-Qadr, a night considered by many to be the holiest of the year. Demonstrators wanted to pray for loved ones killed during the recent Israeli offensive in Gaza. An Al Jazeera correspondent said Israeli police prevented Palestinians under 50 from praying at Al Aqsa.

            This is horrific.

That’s a pretty good source of info. AJE as opposed to AJA—anybody still fooling themselves that we have free speech in America??
The only way we got Al jazeera at all is to take AJA.

This is amazing, meta. I saw at your link that Israeli police were firing into the crowd–some said rubber bullets, some live ammunition. Palestinian young people are breaking down part of the wall Israel built against Palestine. Something huge is happening.

Reporting in from the road—-at motel in the “Wilds of Western Pa.” On our way to visit fam in Ct. —–daughter and son-in-law, 2 grandkids, with the added attraction of getting to attend opening night with grandson flying in a production of Peter Pan. Here’s a report of the First Lady’s visit to Chgo today. Still unconfirmed rumors she will attend the Beyonce/Jay Z concert at Soldier Field tonight.

I watched all three network broadcasts to see how they would cover this……ABC covered the hospital(didn’t use innuendo) CBS was pathetic toeing the IDF line “A Hamas rocket might have fell there” that was from the perspective of their journo in Gaza, then they had the Jerusalem reporter givingsame official Israeli response…..the only problem is there were 5 consecutive mortars….no one. Richard Engel/Kate Snow gave the most accurate description of what happened…..and who presumably did it.

I watched the interview…..thought Leismann was fair/objective & didn’t interrupt….but the idiots they had on for analysis had me FF. Larry Kudlow is as bad as Rick Santelli, but they did have former NATO Amb. Burns on re: “may stiffen…..of EU” and he made the point of how the President was being diplomatic publicly, and behind the scenes pounding the pavement. I like Burns, never figured out why he didn’t get a good State. Dept. to this point….

Whoa!!! So if you want to know how the intel community/armed forces feel about Snowden:

In my particular circle, my comrades and I find ourselves in our respective man-caves and cubicle farms discussing women, guns and politics with emotional declarations that raise our beer mugs, testosterone levels, and professional camaraderie — and not always in that order. Sometimes, we are even driven to detailed fantasies about pulling off great crimes, living like rock stars, and solving every single one of the world’s most glaring problems with swift and appropriate violence.

In the deepest, darkest recesses of my man-cave, for example, we have meticulously planned how to take down a cruise liner knowing that there’s 10 million in cash (yep) and zero security (exactly) aboard. We’ve planned our own wars with countries all around the globe, mostly because we can and it’s also what we do…and we’re pretty exceptional at it. We’ve gone as far as talking about specific gear, guns and tactics that we would use depending on the strategies we devise.

The current topic of discussion these days, and one I feel the most reasonable and realistic to plan, is how we would neutralize the threat presented by a particular enemy of state, Edward Snowden. This particular blight on the face of modern history has been all over the news in recent months, causing heartburn and sleepless nights for officials at the highest levels of government, specifically in the area of national security. In fact, we — my comrades and I — feel anyone biologically connected with him should be thrown in prison simply for sharing genetic code, but I digress…..continued

…and then there is crazy MF from Vice

nope. They most certainly should not to kill Snowden. He doesn’t deserve it. Let him rot in Russia or come home and accept responsibility for his actions.

@knx1070 interviewed the owner of Canter’s Deli.

Contrary to @Obamafoodorama, he did order the corned beef sandwich.

I can’t find an audio of the interview (but I’m technically challenged) cause Obots would love it. The owner gushed about what a great guy the President is!

@knx1070 will no doubt replay the interview, and you can listen live via cbsla.com. I find all the commercials annoying and distracting, so I usually listen at the top of the hour when the national news is broadcast, not the local @knx1070 feed.

The NYTimes has some terrible headline writers.

This one actually makes no sense, but the article’s headline is “U.S. Considering Refugee Status For Hondurans.”

This article doesn’t actually say that President Obama will present this proposal at tomorrow’s meeting with leaders from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, but he is meeting with them tomorrow. (After today’s return from the west coast; I’m exhausted after cross-country flights — I know the President has AF1 and all its perks, but still, no sane person could call him a do-nothing President. The WHPC is probably so silent now because they have no idea what to report on.)
