According to the lawsuit, the state has violated federal law by discontinuing in-person help for applicants to its Medicaid program, TennCare. As a premature child, S.G. is at high risk of contracting the potentially fatal respiratory and airway virus RSV. He requires monthly shots – at $3,000 each – to prevent this illness. His parents can’t afford the treatment.
I’ve been puzzled why there hasn’t been a flurry of lawsuits of individuals demonstrating ‘harm’ by the states not expanding Medicaid.
If an idiot making $20,000/yr, who would have had $21 insurance can sue, get to the SCOTUS to NOT have to carry health insurance, why in the world aren’t there suits of the millions harmed by GOP governors and legislatures?
i think what’s usually happening is that a regular citizen is found who is willing to be the face of these kind of lawsuits, but behind it all paying for it and really running the show is the “wing nut welfare” circuit of “nonprofits” and such paid for the lochs, scaife families, and so on.
I find it unfathomable that there is no financial support for someone on our side, for surely millions have been ‘harmed’ because of GOP heartlessness. There has to be a lawsuit there.
Maybe loudmouth emoprog lawyers like Mike Pampantonio would take the time to stop bashing PBO and file one of these suits.

15 killed as Israel bombs UN school in Gaza: http://www.rte.ie/news/2014/0724/632725-israel-gaza/
Emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said around 200 people were injured in the strike on the school run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in the northern town of Beit Hanun. He gave no immediate details on those killed, but an AFP journalist at a nearby morgue said the bodies arriving from the scene included a mother and her one-year-old baby.
UN Secretary General said Ban ki-Moon said UN staff were among the dead and injured in the shelling of the school. Mr Ban said he was “appalled” by the news and “strongly condemned” the attack on the school. “Today’s attack underscores the imperative for the killing to stop — and to stop now,” he said in the statement released in Iraq, his latest stop on a tour to try to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. UN spokesman Farhan Haq separately said officials were trying to determine the number of casualties among UN staff and stressed that it had not been established who had attacked the school.
Israel Radio, without citing a source, reported that most of those killed at the United Nations school were children. “Throughout the day, our staff had been attempting to arrange a humanitarian pause in the hostilities so that civilians could be evacuated,” said Mr Ban.
UNRWA chief tells us agency was not given any warning before strikes on school.

.@unrwa says school location was given to IDF. UN says it tried to coordinate with IDF a window for civilians to leave area. Never granted.
This is stomach turning and nausea inducing. They are indiscriminately slaughtering men, women, and children - my goodness, the children! - and shrugging their shoulders as though it is not a big deal. These are human lives.
We now know, NW, that Bibi and his flock simply don’t care. They have become the inverse of the lessons taught at Yad Vashem and their path to this decent into evil has been obvious to anyone paying attention since 1967. That’s why the graphic in this tweet is so informative.
@AmbassadorRice Viewing this image reminds me of what European immigrants did to the native peoples of the Americas. pic.twitter.com/RsNrE3mhtG
Nerdy, it’s beyond words or reason at this point. There is NO excuse for this, no reasoning or justifying this level of slaughter. Israel has crossed every line of human decency. If there are Israelis who are appalled by this, they must act and raise their voices now.
Israel is denying that they hit the UN school in Beit hHanoun. 200+ casualties, 20 dead. Israel says “the other guy did it.”
Liars.
Blame-shifters.
IDF general on BBC now saying that the only ones who care about Gaza citizens is israel. Sure you do. Now t 5000+ are maimed and dead. How many more must be wounded or dead while you care so much???????????????
Vicki, Israel’s ‘ass’ is so exposed nothing will cover it - for a very, very long time. Bibi, Putin & Assad long ago joined Kim Jong-un in the pariah’s pantheon. At least Israelis still - barely - have a functioning democracy that they can leverage to purge Bibi and his fellow neoconsters/bigots …. if they VOTE.
Message to US Voters re: 4 Nov 2025 - vote as if your life and democracy depend on it.
Mark Regev, Israel’s chief spokesperson on BBC backing off from claiming Hamas rockets destroyed UN School.
New talking point is “We aren’t sure. Confusion.”
Sounds pretty close to confession to me, Bob.
Bib=Putin and as you suggested, Assad and Jong-un as well.
Yep, Vicki. The big problem he’s got with Iron Dome is that it’s recording everything that’s launched, not just what the Palestinians launch. So, if it was an Israeli rocket, it’s launch location, trajectory and point of impact are all in the data base. Same would be true for anything launched from an Israeli aircraft or ship as those systems retain that data. Of course, they can destroy the data, but it’s unavoidable that they know the facts.
Bob, there has to be a significant enough majority in Israel that supports this over-the-top aggression and carnage or Bibi would not be there now. He was “chosen” by them and unless enough of them are sick of him and act quickly, he is going to continue to destroy Israel’s future. It took a while for the majority of US voters to turn on Bush for his Iraq fiasco, but Iraq was far away and didn’t affect the daily lives of Americans. And the media suppressed a lot of the images of carnage. Social media is making the unholy slaughter in Gaza all too real for Israelis and the impact hits home every day. Their time for action is running out.

I doubt many folks believe Israel. The question becomes, What are the rest of us going to do about the massacres and subsequent lies?
What is former President Shimon Peres saying? Or doing? Is he powerless to say or do anything???? What about the new President?? Are they not allowed to caution Bibi?
Israel Swears in New President Amid Gaza War
JERUSALEM — Jul 24, 2014, 2:00 PM ET
By TIA GOLDENBERG Associated Press
Associated Press
Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shimon Peres ended his term as president of Israel on Thursday — a man who symbolizes hopes for peace capping a seven-decade public career amid the brutal reality of war. Peres handed the ceremonial but high-profile presidency over to Reuven Rivlin, a legislator from the hawkish Likud Party.
Although the globe-trotting elder statesman has made clear he has no intention to retire, few expect him to hold public office again, after a career that dates back to the 1940s and has seen him occupy almost every major government position in the land.
“I did not imagine that in the last days of my presidency I would be called upon, once more, to comfort bereaved families,” Peres, 90, said in his speech at the handover ceremony. He blamed the Islamic militant group Hamas for starting the current war by firing barrages of rockets at Israel, but also emphasized that “Israel is not the enemy of the people of Gaza.”
Rivlin’s theme was similar: “We are not fighting against the Palestinian people, and we are not at war with Islam,” he said. “We are fighting against terrorism.” In sharp contrast to Peres, however, Rivlin has long been an opponent of efforts to establish a Palestinian state.
Peres spent the last days of his seven-year term consoling families of soldiers killed in two weeks of fighting. More than 30 have died, along with three civilians on the Israeli side and more than 700 Palestinians, most of them civilians. During his visits, Peres is seen clutching the hands of grieving mothers, wives and siblings, pressing them to remain strong
“On the one hand he feels great satisfaction from having served Israel,” said his spokeswoman, Ayelet Frisch. “On the other hand he feels sadness for these days when Israel does not know peace.”
What boggles my mind the most, particulary after seeing that map of a very decimated Palestine, contrasting 1947, pre-UN, then 1947, 1967 and today. How the hell are any Paestinian people still alive, they have no land, no infrastructure, Israel has sucked up everything except a tiny patch here and there, and almost the entire waterfront. It is no wonder the Palestinian people are fighting back, they are being driven to extinction, those who are still trying to live there. If PBO and other world leaders can re-establish at least the 1967 borders, but who doubts Israel will agree to that. I know several Jewish people, among them some top scholars, who feel the entire UN decision after the war was incorrect and that Israel is way out of line with it’s perpetual war and terror on the Palestinian people.
MP, the UN made a declaration and basically said that Palestinians had to move over and make room for Israelis without any regard to the rights of Palestinians. It was all seen as a noble effort to recompense Jews for the horror of WWII, but it really substitute one set of horrors-homeless Jews-for another-suppressed Palestinians. Then the UN basically told them all to work it out and went away. In retrospect, I think the UN should have raised holy hell when Israel encroached on Palestine land in 1967. In doing so, the Israelis added insult to grave injury and set the stage for endless war, resentment and the rise of fanatics on both sides.
HORRIFYING comment alert (step over if you are already on overdose)
Israeli Professor Suggests Rape as ‘Terror Deterrent’ - Mordechai Kedar: Sex Assault on Relatives Will Stop Attacks [by Ori Kashti]
(Haaretz) — “The only thing that can deter terrorists, like those who kidnapped the children and killed them, is the knowledge that their sister or their mother will be raped.” This assertion was made by Middle East scholar Dr. Mordechai Kedar of Bar-Ilan University on an Israel Radio program. “It sounds very bad, but that’s the Middle East,” added Kedar, of Bar-Ilan’s Department of Arabic.
The program “Hakol Diburim” (“It’s All Talk”) was broadcast on July 1, immediately after the discovery of the bodies of Gilad Shaar, Naftali Fraenkel and Eyal Yifrah, who were kidnapped and murdered in the West Bank. It dealt, among other things, with the question of how Hamas can be deterred.
“You have to understand the culture in which we live,” said Kedar. “The only thing that deters [Hamas leaders] is a threat to the connection between their heads and their shoulders.” When presenter Yossi Hadar asked if that “could filter down” the organization’s ranks, Kedar replied: “No, because lower down the considerations are entirely different. Terrorists like those who kidnapped the children and killed them — the only thing that deters them is if they know that their sister or their mother will be raped in the event that they are caught. What can you do, that’s the culture in which we live.”
When Hadar said, “We can’t take such steps, of course,” Kedar continued: “I’m not talking about what we should or shouldn’t do. I’m talking about the facts. The only thing that deters a suicide bomber is the knowledge that if he pulls the trigger or blows himself up, his sister will be raped. That’s all. That’s the only thing that will bring him back home, in order to preserve his sister’s honor.”
Kedar is also a research fellow at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar-Ilan, and in the past also served as chairman of the Israel Academia Monitor organization, …………….//
PF58, this is actually the second dehumanizing comment from an important Israeli figure that I have seen (the previous one referring to Palestinians as literally less than human beings), and I confess that both times I have been shocked that they feel so comfortable to say such things ‘aloud’.
That goes back to Norm Ornstein’s comment about what happens when extremism becomes mainstream….and the Press has helped to make it so …but not calling it out..
Pf, it’s the whole disgusting history of the human race. Every “civilization” that rises to power has to dehumanize some other people. Egyptians made slaves of everyone they captured and felt free to inflict every conceivable horror on them. The Romans did the same and then the Crusaders in their almighty self-delusion felt justified in decimating whole populations of Muslim Arabs in the name of Christ. Don’t even get me started on what we did to Native Americans and then we forged a Constitution for a great democracy that had the damned nerve to say “all men are created equal” except for some men and all women. It’s the great sin of mankind that always limits the possibilities of any civilization. When I little I was told by the Catholic church that original sin had something to do with Adam and Eve and ‘temptation.’ Wrong! The real original sin that crushes the human spirit is thinking any other person is lesser than yourself.

I wanted to clear something up here over the Israel thing. I support the president as much as ever. The fact remains that Israel will do what it wants and the political clout has as always been in Israel’s favor. At this point in time I think Obama wants the casualities to end just as much as I or anyone and I don’t doubt for a moment that he DOES NOT approve of what Israel is doing. However when you got so many people that are in Israel’s pockets working for the government, it makes it very difficult to work against them. They are also our ally, this is even harder to go against a staunch ally in the middle east because we have so few of them.
In the mean time I will continue to protest what Israel is doing and realize now that I’ve been so blind to the horrors over there.
I’ve always heard the call that moderates of all stripes in every community should speak up. I agree. I hope that as the world has gotten closer in sharing and getting information……I hope that voices, Noble voices from The Moderates should speak and LOUDLY to help build consensus for a better outcome.
I think the change is happening Jeff. I have spent the last two days reading stories about Israeli’s protesting their government. They are pushing back on posts making it clear they do not agree with what is happening. More are calling it what it is…genocide.
I am with you. I was unaware of what was going on. But now that I do know I too will continue to speak out.
Potus is doing what he can and we should do our part. Speak out loudly against this massacre because Israel/Bibi is wrong.
I have been calling my officials letting them know that US tax payer dollars should not fund Bibi’s wars.
Funny, but true! That is exactly why I have problems remembering my passwords. Try more than a couple of times and you get locked out as if you are trying to breach your own account. Then before you know it you have to have your IPad completely restored.
An Algiers airliner went down in Mali with 110 passengers and 6 crew members. Wow. So sad. Since March 8, 2014, this is the 4th major crash with lots of folks who are now dead. So sad. I just hope that the Militants in Mali didn’t cause this plane to crash.
Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) opened his presser asking “Where are the jobs?” as if he expected an alternate Speaker John Boehner to appear and explain himself. No such apparition did appear.
After House Republicans killed the VA bill Thursday morning because they refused to provide the VA will more funding money even though their party is the one that created the extra veterans with the two wars and continues to push for new armed conflicts, the Speaker blamed President Obama. The Speaker thinks it’s Obama’s fault that Boehner can’t pass legislation dealing with the border and the VA in the House before they go on yet another break, as if somehow a ghost of the President had taken residence in the House and was forcibly stopping Boehner from bringing legislation to the floor.
One way to muzzle the rubbish coming from the rusty orange, DC Town-crier is: POTUS could make Congress remain in DC for the next 3-5 weeks. He could use the time by instructing his Team and Surrogates; thereby, calling the Nation’s attention to the Hopeless Obstructionist House GOPers, the culprits driving a wrecking ball and sticking their collective large middle fingers to the 318.5M Americans.
Senate and House Dems could also help by using their respective floor Chambers to raise issues after hours. C-SPAN covers these things and they have staffers who are capable of tweeting up a storm. The discussion has got to change and change to issues Americans are interested and passionate about.
Canter’s is an LA institution, and would be a place that would welcome Netanyahu when he’s in town, but alas, Bibi visits include just the rarified circles of the ivory tower elite when he’s here.
Also a stone’s throw from CBS, Farmer’s Market and The Grove (and not far from Shonda Rhimes’ home).
Somehow I think this is a dig at both former-golden boy Eric Cantor and Bibi, LOL.
Maybe that’s why POTUS play golf more these days, the chicken wing elbow and the knees. Hay POTUS, I’m sure Michael Jordon don’t play basketball as much as he used too, I hear he loves golf.
Canter’s is on Fairfax Ave. Traffic is awful on that street on a normal day. It’s narrow and congested. Can’t even imagine what it’s like with PBO visiting.

Unbelievable!!! ……Red Cross & UN facilities/shelters are legitimate targets b/c Israel says so?
This is stomach turning and nausea inducing. They are indiscriminately slaughtering men, women, and children - my goodness, the children! - and shrugging their shoulders as though it is not a big deal. These are human lives.
“These are human lives.”
We now know, NW, that Bibi and his flock simply don’t care. They have become the inverse of the lessons taught at Yad Vashem and their path to this decent into evil has been obvious to anyone paying attention since 1967. That’s why the graphic in this tweet is so informative.
Bibi=Putin.
BBC now reporting that school hit today was Fourth school hit this week.
Dangerous place, Mali air space, that is ….
Man at UN on BBC calling for end of siege.
Israel desperate to Cover Its Ass.
I don’t think it will work this time.
“Sounds pretty close to confession to me, Bob.”
“Social media is making the unholy slaughter in Gaza all too real for Israelis and the impact hits home every day. Their time for action is running out.”
Yes, Jackie. Agree.
“Russian Blackwater”: Moscow wants to build private armies
MPs and military in Moscow working on a bill that provides for unrest in Russia’s neighboring countries. The working group is preparing to establish private security firms. From a “Russian Black Water” is mentioned, in reference to the media in Moscow mercenaries of the notorious U.S. company Blackwater (now renamed Academi).
The Russian parliament will decide in the autumn on the initiative. The support of the Kremlin is considered safe. President Vladimir Putin sees private security companies as an effective “tool for the enforcement of national interests without direct interference of the state”.
The security companies to step in, “if the use of regular armed forces is politically or legally difficult,” says the bill. Your employees are projected, the plans primarily from former military officers and soldiers of the elite unit “Spetsnaz” put together. The supervision of the company is to the domestic intelligence service FSB is responsible…..continued
Good Lord, it just gets worse and worse. Hire out the goons, so you can pretend your own hands are clean, even though you are arming them and paying them.
Alrighty then, Chips Chica and NerdyW, I am caught up on today’s reading. Thank you very much for today’s posts so far.
Good ThursDAY, to all TODobots, big and small, …..and in between!
It is apparent that the civilians are the target themselves…which makes these war crimes
There is extensive historic evidence that Israel targets refuges containing civilians.
And still IDF denies it was their targeted strike???
I doubt many folks believe Israel. The question becomes, What are the rest of us going to do about the massacres and subsequent lies?
What is former President Shimon Peres saying? Or doing? Is he powerless to say or do anything???? What about the new President?? Are they not allowed to caution Bibi?
Never mind…
I went searching and found my answer…
It’s very crazy. Part of the thinking:
Thank you, jg, that is how I understand it as well.

Demonizing the enemy….makes it ok to do anything to them…because they are less than Human…
this call comes up time and time again…
toward Blk people during slavery…
blk men in general
the children at the border….
VC and pf58.
sad to say you two are entirely correct in your appraisals.
It is unbearable.
Yea, this latest case is a good example of this.
Or about Hitler to the Jews.
BRAVOOOOOOOOOOO!
After President Obama’s motorcade delayed a pregnant woman in labor from making it to a Los Angeles hospital on Wednesday, conservatives were able to fuse two of their favorite memes. The woman’s plight was yet another chapter in the regal presidency of the Fundraiser-in-Chief.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/obama-motorcade-delays-pregnant-woman-la
This happened yesterday. As of today, the woman has not given birth….yet the right is losing their minds.
Glad none of the previous presidents ever left the White House or traveled in any other city in a motorcade.
The baby must be a Republican, he is piss at Obama. Mom and Dad I haven’t come to see you yet, blame Obama,it’s his Obama’s fault.
The only one who is calling Barack Obama King Obama are the right wing haters. By the way, when does King Obama speak today? And I read that Queen Michelle and Princess Malia and Princess Sasha will be going to Jay-Z and Beyonce concert tonight in Chicago.
Maybe they all will be back at their castle later tonight.
This is so trivial. It does not deserve to travel any further than the parameters of SoCal. I heard it this morning on the news and that was enough of my life that this report needed.
Too bad I heard 5 mins. of CNN before coming on this lovely blog with you lovely people. Grrrr. After this, these fools are not going to steal my Obama joy!
I told you they get emails from Rinse saying to give the president hell for fundraising.
If I had a nickle for every email the GOP sent the MSM with talking points?
Yep. You are right about all that!
Hiya, JO’B:
Just for you… like you, reading about @VP brings a smile to my face. (link to article posted on Early Bird thread via @mikememoli tweet that said @VP has been asked to campaign for more than 200 Dem candidates):
Love it! How thoughtful, and I thank you!
A pew poll-

I cried.
This person is feeling the way I felt. I hope to see more of this.
Don’t you play the Holocaust with me.
Zionism and the Holocaust Card - Dr Norman Finklestein
That little girl wasn’t even around during the holocaust. I’m proud of this man for decrying this guilt trip for any criticism about Israel.
Well, we were with Israel until this massive ground op, where many more civilians are dying.
whatever.
US taxpayers should not be paying for Bib’s wars

Just heard on the radio some Israeli spokesman blame Gaza for the horrific shelling of a UN safe zone school.
He claimed Hamas is using human shields.
WTH? At a Red Cross shelter.
Like Putin, Netanyahu has overreached, and has crossed the boundary of human decency with the mass murder of innocents.
Cannot believe this is all happening at the same time.
What is Bibi’s motivation for launching such senseless slaughter at this time?
Arapaho. that was earlier today. Israel is backing off a bit. Mark Regev now says they can’t be sure where the rocket came from.
Really???? Even if this is the fourth UN school and refuge bombed by Israel in the last few days?
Really, IDF? You’re going for confusion as your shield?
Perhaps Iran’s nuclear deal….
Layla, I also believe that the accord with Iran has at least in part, ignited the furious Israeli response.
The first spark was the Fatah-Hamas unity deal in May. Israel then witheld the pay due to 40,000 gazan public employees. 40,000 with no paychecks.
Then US/Iran harmony. Hence—
Israeli Freak-out.
Thank you, Layla.
I didn’t connect the dots, but maybe Bibi has been planning this for some time, since the Jul 20 deadline was no secret.
Saw on the news that the Obama Adm is earmarking more funds for the Iron Dome, about twice as much as was offered to Gaza this week.
DAMNIT! No more for that dome.
What is Bibi’s motivation for launching such senseless slaughter at this time?…
*************
Genocide….wiping out the Palestinians…
Bibi’s has crossed that threshold of human decency a long time ago.
WTF?
has she said anything about the crises in Israel and Gaza?
I bet she has not.
#nomoreclintons
I think Israel supports Israel way more than President Obama.
oops I meant I think Hillary supports Israel. Not enough sleep.
BE CAREFUL… I DO NOT BELIEVE THE PRESS…unless i hear it from her mouth…not going to get sucked in by these inflammatory headlines…
#KeepingMyEyesOnThePrize
Wonderful to hear this from you, jeff.
Fully support you, Jeff!! You’re on a righteous path and I doubt if President Obama would disagree with anything you’ve stated.
#FORWARD Together
A fine comment Jeff.
I’ve always heard the call that moderates of all stripes in every community should speak up. I agree. I hope that as the world has gotten closer in sharing and getting information……I hope that voices, Noble voices from The Moderates should speak and LOUDLY to help build consensus for a better outcome.
Our media has made Sane Voices harder to Hear.
Israel will do what it wants and the political clout has as always been in Israel…

An Algiers airliner went down in Mali with 110 passengers and 6 crew members. Wow. So sad. Since March 8, 2014, this is the 4th major crash with lots of folks who are now dead. So sad. I just hope that the Militants in Mali didn’t cause this plane to crash.
You wipe out an entire civilization and you think this will bring you peace, good god, Israel will not see peace for the next thousand years.

That would be excellent indeed!!!
Thank yooooou BFF!!
My pleasure.
LOVE it!
I’ll take it!!
Maybe that’s why POTUS play golf more these days, the chicken wing elbow and the knees. Hay POTUS, I’m sure Michael Jordon don’t play basketball as much as he used too, I hear he loves golf.
King Obama talking basketball.
That’s it!!! My decision is made, I’m moving to the White House!
Hay King Obama, stop it. Remember Kings don’t touch the ordinary folks. Since the right want to call him King, I think I will too. :)
He knows good deli food.
And as soon as I find out what he ate, I’ll be fixated on it for the next week. This President is doing NO good for my waist line.
Cantor’s - my favorite place for a goooood kosher corned beef sandwich. Or lox :-)
STOP!!!!!!
Hahahahaha!
Sworry Chips. I’ll get one this weekend and describe the taste to you - okay?
If you do, you’ll get the Newtkini.
Effective deterrent :D
Just a little local knowledge:
Canter’s is on Fairfax Ave. Traffic is awful on that street on a normal day. It’s narrow and congested. Can’t even imagine what it’s like with PBO visiting.
My guess is that Fairfax is closed now.
@knx1070 radio has traffic reports specific to street closures b/c of PBO’s visit.
I’m glad that the grumblers didn’t sway PBO’s determination to MINGLE (!) in this vast metropolis.
LL, it ain’t moving!
I bet Olymipic, Fairfax, Beverly - all complete stand still or shut down.
I read that waaaaay too quickly and thought you meant Eric Cantor was on Fairfax Ave and that was why traffic was crazy. And I was like, WTF?
 The former Majority Leader would not be very welcome in Los Angeles.
Hell to the NAW!!!!
