    Congrats Judy Greenough on First!

Chips – I was just gathering my thoughts to comment and refreshed to find a New Post! I haven’t had a chance to say “Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family”! :D

I also wanted to say how much I truly loved viewing “The Growing Years”. You and NW did an awesome job – in fact yesterday’s birthday celebration for PBO couldn’t have been better if it was scripted. The whole day was touching and heartfelt from us to him <3

Heh. Brooks Peck trolling Liverpool and Man U

In front of a crowd that would have overflowed from a much smaller stadium, Liverpool got out to an early lead when Gerrard converted a penalty in the 14th minute. But in the second half, Man United mounted a comeback that will surely go down as one of the greatest in summer exhibition cup final history when Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata scored within two minutes of each other and 21-year-old Jesse Lingard added a third goal in the 88th minute.

Rooney, who captained Man United, was named both Man of the Match and Player of the Tournament, which will surely drive up his transfer value at least £3-4. And new boss Louis van Gaal has now won the first trophy available to him since joining Man United after the World Cup, matching the high standard set by predecessor David Moyes, who won the Community Shield last season.

Always a shocker as I’ve dropped back to Cox’s cheapest “blazingly fast” ISP service-means I have to check e-mail at the exact moment the feed is sent, then try to be patient for the next 3 minutes minimum. This morning, everyone must have been on break.

Shhhh, let’s not go to the *sad* side… :D

I even made offspring laugh LOL!
And I don’t think you found his most current material – at least that’s what he told me. Now he could have just said that to make me feel better – but I. don’t. care! :D :D :D

‘And I don’t think you found his most current material – at least that’s what he told me’

He’s undoubtedly correct, GGail. Ninety-five% of the time I don’t remember that he has a Sound Cloud account, or what that means in a practical sense. All I know is that he spends an awful lot of his time presumably composing.

It is the simple truth when I tell you guys I’m not a fan of music. I rarely listen to anything longer than 3 minutes all the way to the end, particularly if there are no *sensible* words! Me, (and only because I’m talking to you), I’m embarrassed to admit that the last time I visited his account was in January. [ ;) Maybe if the adult Obamas had birthdays more often I'd remember to visit more often.]

Seriously, I visit when I remember to persuade him to compose, or tweak, something for me, or when he composes something that means something to me – like his memorium to a favourite music teacher who passed away, or the waltz he composed in tribute to a former music teacher who has retired (due to onset health stuff). Frankly, my musical imagination is non-existent so I go for compositions with which I can identify. The ‘poor’ soul loses patience with my ignorance sometimes!

So, yes, I’m not at all surprised that I didn’t locate most of his current material, but I hope you’ll enjoy/appreciate what *you* find. And that if you do, you’ll let him know. I daresay he’d appreciate getting some feedback – a distinct rarity around here! :-/.

Not whining. Simply stating. BHO has more than spoiled me for listening to any other speaker, well except for MLRO, and one or two others, like Deval P.

I’ve muted the feed, so am counting on one of you to let me know when PBO starts. Thanks.

    • August 5, 2014 at 3:04 pm

You need to listen to what the 5 African presidents are saying. They’re setting Silly Charlie Rose straight on assuming that Ebola defines the continent. Afterall this summit is supposed to be about the African continent and its people, not Pres Obama.

I know, Zizi. Good point; I listened to the Tanzanian (?) pres, but I’m very interested in how PBO sees the Afr contintent and ours working together. Plus, I have confidence PBO will explain by linking what they have said to what he has to say.

Nothing like a teabagger to ruin your day. I once was giving weekly rides to a neighbor of a friend in Florida (back in 2010) for serious medical treatment (she didn’t want to bother her family; I was retired and available so I said I would). Even though my friend (an Obama supporter) warned her of my political persuasions, this woman spent each entire half-hour ride to and from another city, beginning in week two, spewing teabagger garbage, telling me she “had black friends in Indiana so wasn’t prejudiced against the President yada yada yada,” as I calmly rebutted each of her points. Apparently, the illness was more in her heart and mind, than what the doctors told her. After “examining my conscience” (raised on Catholic guilt) for several weeks, I finally told her I could not give her rides any longer. Her family picked up the slack, and she’s fine today, but I made sure I never ran into her again. Life’s too short. Truthfully, I didn’t get sad. I got mad. Mad as heck!

THEIR TEABAG LANGUAGE IS AN ABOMINATION…VERY IMMATURE AND SO HURTFUL…THE TEAPARTY IS NOTHING BUT A GATHERING OF ANTI-GOVERNMENT EXTREMISTS AND THEIR SNAKE SYMBOL SUITS THEM BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE…SO MUCH FOR CHARITABLE THOUGHTS TODAY!

    • August 5, 2014 at 5:25 pm

Sorry to sound like a conspiracy lover, but doesn’t it seem strange to you that during the Obama presidency we have seen many more leaks endangering national security ? Leaks that also create political problems for the President ?

The neocons have many allies within the national security apparatus. Just sayin… And it’s not like conservatives and neocons haven’t demonstrated that they’re capable of putting their political gain before the country.

[Oh my! This goes w/ Chips toon: #WarOnWhites in earlier thread. All kinds of STUPID from Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), just taking a snippet, but warning: whole article is @ Huff&Puff. Sorry, but I had to LOL!]:

“As best I can in the time limitations I have, I try to make sure people understand what the Democrats are doing by raising race as an issue every chance they get,” he said. “It’s much like the congressmen during the (immigration) debate on Friday: Democrat after Democrat was talking racism and race. And the motivation for their doing so was to try to cause bloc voters of race to vote solely on skin color.

“I’m one of those who does not believe in racism and I believe everyone should be treated equally as American citizens. It’s high time folks started calling out the Democrats for their racial appeals. Certainly if you were to flip the coin and a white person were to say vote for me because I’m white, it would be an uproar and deservedly so. So why do we allow blacks to say vote for me because I’m black or Hispanics vote for me because I’m Hispanic? Race is immaterial and everybody ought to be treated the same.”

    • August 5, 2014 at 5:38 pm

You have to give it to republicans. They have an exceptional talent for twisting the truth and project their own flaws on their political opponents. It never ceases to amaze me.

On the subject of race it’s especially jaw-dropping. They do everything they can to suppress the rights of minorities, and then when democrats call them out and work to get the minorities’s support to throw the racists out, republicans whine and play the victim. Gosh they drive me nuts.

and THIS!! Walgreen was one of the company planning to relocate

….sources on both sides of the Atlantic said that Walgreens is likely to disclose as part of its announcement that it intends to remain a US-domiciled company rather than pursuing a so-called tax inversion which would involve moving its corporate headquarters to the UK or Switzerland.

The news will represent a significant victory for President Obama, who said recently that US companies which moved their headquarters overseas to save tax were damaging the country’s economy.

“My attitude is I don’t care if it’s legal, it’s wrong,” he said in July…..
