Fantastic work Nerdy collecting these, my God: the lies.

      Thanks, Chips.

The lies and the arrogance behind them are so breathtaking. They seriously think people can’t reason and put one + one together? So thankful for Twitter and on the ground reports because the bias of some of the mainstream media is very glaring.

      • August 16, 2014 at 5:18 pm

Most of the MSM only took an interest in the story when there was some looting, they didn’t give a shit about the murder of Michael Brown.

I made the seriously bad mistake today of looking at the timeline of that Politico twat Byron Tau – astonishing. He arrived in Ferguson hoping to spot some looting and rioting, and it’s all he tweeted about. Michael Brown is barely mentioned.

LL made the point the other night, those who thought Twitter didn’t matter know it does now. It might not force justice in this, but it sure as hell has shone a light on this travesty. So, I’ll never underestimate the power of Twitter again.

Thanks again for assembling those Nerdy, they tell so much. You’re the best.

Thank you, NW, for assembling those tweets!

And tomorrow these people will swear up and down about their Christianity.

    Lies. Lies. Lies.

Using the media to reshape the story. All it takes are audio and Video.

    Michael Brown isn’t even buried.

The tweets selection pretty much told the story. Fine job NW.
    Gold for Alycee.

Gov. Jay Nixon’s responses at the press conference revealed how incompetent the Ferguson officials who are supposedly in charge are.

A man murdered an unarmed teenager and was allowed to skip town. In addition to that, no incident, autopsy, ballistics report have been released but the Ferguson PD found the time to smear Mike Brown with a video that had nothing to do with his encounter and subsequent murder at the hands of Darren Wilson.

They’re more interested in instituting curfews on residents instead of solving the case. (Nixon might want to read up on sundown towns).

Yet they wonder why people are justifiably outraged.

    Wow.

      Jay Nixon is Not puzzled.
Jay Nixon is Indifferent to the suffering of those not in His class.

Jay Nixon is determined to promote the interests, peace and security of His class no matter what.

Apart from my rage at the machine today—-(will put their greatest hits album on soon)

I am grateful for your tweets and this amazing blog.

We are going to need some major star power to defeat the overwhelming propaganda coming out of MO.

We all see what is being done here.
And we know that rage, if we express it, will be answered by overwhelming force.

I’m thinking we need an effort by the liberal community of artists, actors, musicians of all types to organize around the need for a charge and arrest. Soon.

  7. August 16, 2014 at 5:20 pm

It’s ironic that Gov. Nixon keeps going on about providing a safe environment for Ferguson citizens to express themselves, yet he is not LISTENING to them. They’re telling him what they want. But it appears that the governor cannot multi-task because he’s not prepared to talk to people beyond that.

If the demands and concerns of the citizens were being addressed, then safety and security probably wouldn’t be an issue.

Exactly, swbluega. So now I ask myself, what is it they want More than they want peace and security?

Same question I was asking of israel. For much the same behavior.

      • August 16, 2014 at 5:37 pm

They just want the black people to quietly go away so that they can get back to business as usual. If they go through the motions, the black and people are suppose to say they’re trying and accept whatever the outcome is. Not happening this time!

    • August 16, 2014 at 6:36 pm

      Serious question.

Does Ferguson have a mayor? In CA many unincorporated towns don’t, they’re under county jurisdiction, which, as I’ve said before means essentially no government supervision.

I saw on the Internet yesterday a claim that the father of the St. Louis County DA (apparently the most senior county official, the one who ripped @GovJayNixon’s appointment of Capt. Ron Johnson to oversee police force in Ferguson) was a police officer killed by a Black suspect in the line of duty. I have no idea whether or not it is true, but his reaction to Capt. Ron Johnson’s appointment tells me all I need to know.

        August 16, 2014 at 7:09 pm

Yes, Ferguson has a mayor. Has appeared on tv several times. Never gives straight answer about the execution, but has a lot to say about the “riots.” Says “black people love me.” In my opinion — worthless POS.

Please set me straight, TODville. Thx.

I was wondering too Arapaho, I don’t know him at all so I just hope he’s sincere about all this and not, like so many others, trying to make a name for himself using Ferguson.

Sorry, was so po’d that I didn’t lead with explanatory paragraph. Blackwell, the chief of Cincinnati PD, was on CNN potificating about the situation in #Ferguson. Said due to SIX DAYS OF RIOTING, Gov was right to enforce curfew. Implied civic leaders and “good” residents were MIA.

Okay, I give up. I’ve spent 45 minutes trying to locate an article shared by someone yesterday that contrasted the language and images used to describe black suspects and white suspects. I’ve gone up and down several past posts, peering carefully to no avail. :( I’ve also put different titles in the google but all I see British articles, long dissertations, or other unfamiliar stuff. So it’s not like I haven’t tried…. for close to an hour. Anyone want to put me out of my misery – it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    • August 16, 2014 at 6:27 pm

Vc, So glad I’m not the only one this happens to. Like you, have spent long time looking for something and no luck. Drives me crazy. Hope someone comes to your aid. I remember what you’re talking about.

*smooooch* {{{Sabreen}}} Thank you so much – I should have asked earlier and saved myself all the headache. I remembered article and wanted to show it to offspring – who isn’t at home right now – but couldn’t remember where I had seen it, other than in the village. Have you ever tried going up and down links to locate some point or other? Last time Chips had to rescue me, now you. One would think I’d concede that I have poor memory/research skills and just sit myself down!

        Thanks.

I don’t do HuffPo usually either, so didn’t even remember that it might have been there.

      Thanks, Dudette, for posting this.

Saw Kasai’s comment on the previous thread, how this older gentleman is walking with determination (will not be stopped from his goal to show support) and how he reminds her of the person who approached her this week at a particularly down moment for her — near the heart of CA NIMBY-bigot territory (Murietta) and gave her a memento from his buddy killed in Vietnam — he’s been carrying it for years, but wanted our Kasai to have it.

The story brought tears to my eyes, unforgettable (familiar with the area since I grew up in the San Diego area, friends and family still there) — thanks, ((( Kasai ))).

Let’s be clear, the similarities between how the Trayvon Martin murder and Mike Brown execution have been handled by the police and #NEWSTAINERS are not coincidence.

We have to rip that script out of their hands and destroy it forever.

Thanks to the pervasiveness of the Internet and tools like Twitter and OUR VOTE we can prevail. We must.

Benjamin Crump for the family set off all my alarms. The Brown family needs a firebrand representative. BC is way too polite and deferential.

  26. August 16, 2014 at 6:35 pm

I don’t know, friends, but I sense something different in the air. Michael Brown’s murder is somehow different than Trayvon Martin’s. The response has been different. A community has risen up to refuse to be oppressed. And it’s doing it peacefully, determinedly. And people across the country, of all colors and backgrounds, are responding.

Will this be sustained? I don’t know. We all know that most Americans have the attention span of gnats. But perhaps this time my skepticism will be proven gloriously unfounded.

    • August 16, 2014 at 6:45 pm

There were large protests in FL….in fact it was a least a month after the killing of Trayvon Martin….that the police and DA….did anything at all to charge George Zimmerman….

      • August 16, 2014 at 6:49 pm

I think seeing the militarized response to peaceful protests is what is different this time. Perhaps the nation was shocked enough at seeing tanks deployed to quell protests that it won’t go into the memory hole. I’m trying really hard to keep hopeful.

German Intel Spied On Hillary Clinton, John Kerry: Der Spiegel

BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s foreign intelligence agency eavesdropped on calls made by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and his predecessor Hillary Clinton, German magazine Der Spiegel reported Saturday.

The respected news weekly reported that the agency, known by its German acronym BND, tapped a satellite phone conversation Kerry made in 2013 as part of its surveillance of telecommunications in the Middle East. The agency also recorded a conversation between Clinton and former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan a year earlier, Der Spiegel claimed.

So how does Merkel feel about this? All countries spy on each other. That’s why I never understood why Merkel and the Brazilian lady was upset. This is hypocrisy at it’s worst.

What’s the difference between a curfew in Ferguson and no curfew? Michael Brown’s grandfather said that he and his same-aged male friends have always known not to go downtown on Friday or Saturday nights because they’d be stopped and harassed, too. So, what’s the difference?
