NW – thank you for your fierce pursuit of truth and justice!

  2. August 16, 2014 at 11:54 am

Nerdy, while enormously grateful for these wonderful, powerful tweets, after losing to Swansea this morning, the mention of ‘United’ and ‘Ferguson’ in the same sentence brought tears to my eyes.

    Thank you Legend!!!

If #MichaelBrown had been white, MSM would be all over the EVIDENCE.

“Two of those shots, the Twitter witness says, were from behind. The other five came it a “barrage” after Brown turned around.”

A :bear: hug to all those Ferguson Citizens helping to clean up in a difficult situation. Bless them.
It is a true post with compassion, information and reality. Well done NW.
Humanity without Respect, Openness, Fairness and Truth fails. The above tweets capture those elements and more. Brilliant.

There’s a reason Steve Kornacki always looks frightened to death. He has sold out completely to GOP. His nervous expression betrays the last smidgens of conscience trying to be heard.

      • August 16, 2014 at 12:49 pm

I like steve, he seems like a responsible guy to me. Could be he didn’t know that during his hardball segment they had that video on a loop.

I watched exactly 4 seconds of Hardball last night and I urge you to watch the opening title again. Steve said, “Robbery” plus something else with tape beind him

If he’d opened with “Shot 7+ times, left on pavement unattended” I would have watched further.

Thank God for citizen journalist and technology; we can know the true story of what is going on in the world and have a hand in shaping it. Worldwide we are in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement 2.0. A new world order that is more just, more inclusive, more aware will be the result of all of the wrenching trials that we are going through. Trust and believe.

I seldom comment in times of great tragedy, stress and crisis because it is my way to internalize until I can participate and hopefully bring some positive comment; however, I am always here lurking, learning, and sending prayers and positive thoughts as we go through so many trials, personally and as citizens of the world.

NW, a special thanks for posting these wonderful, life affirming, tweets.

Wow. The Ferguson PD knew exactly what they were doing. They murdered a young man then decided to smear his character so the media would fall for the distraction instead of focusing on the cop who brutally murdered an unarmed teenager.

        August 16, 2014 at 12:54 pm

How to deflect a murder sharge a police officer deserves:

Step 1) Sully everything about the victim.. everything!
Step 2) Make the story about anything else. Journalists arrested, assaulted.
Step 3) Hide the Murdering Cop and every scrap of info about him. Murder? What murder? By who??
Step 4) Erase any trace of sympathy for the neighborhood. Bunch of lawbreakers, etc.
Step 5) Somehow insure that the victims attorneys would play along. You know. Not make demands, say, for a Charge and an Arrest.
Step 6) Insure that finally, when a charge and arrest is made, make sure that the DA is lavishly praised. Because, you know, those people should be grateful we even bother to prosecute murderers on their behalf.

Rinse, as they say and repeat.

If I sound unduly angry I will not apologise.

        Agree 100% with @Jefferson Obama.

My first thought when I saw Tom Jackson’s press conference yesterday.

Think Rod Steiger in “The Heat of The Night” with Sidney Poitier.

        • August 16, 2014 at 12:54 pm

Wow, Arapaho415, I was thinking the same thing. I can just hear Sydney Poiter saying, “They call me Mr Tibbs”. This PD Jackson is sickening. I do believe they have been working all week to smear Mike Brown and to clear this Wilson’s records. The DOJ will find the answers.

I was thinking the same thing. I was trying to remember where “The Heat of The Night” takes place. I kept on Picturing Sidney Poiter’s “they call me Mr. Tibbs.”

      • August 16, 2014 at 12:52 pm

It’s obvious the FPD chief is trying to sabotage the investigation.

I’m also noticing that in contrast to the stunt that he pulled with the surveillance pictures/video on yesterday, today I’m hearing all these descriptions of good character and accolades about Wilson. If his character was so exemplary, then he would show himself and take responsibility for his actions rather than running off and hiding like the bully and coward he is.

Reposting from the tailend of the last thread, re: police cams

    Thanks, Don, for your response.

    * * *
Many of TODville remember the Rodney King incident — after that, LAPD were placed under a “consent decree” — never fully understood what that meant, but they were under federal supervision for about 20 years.

Despite the recommendation of the Christopher Commission, LAPD have cameras in only about 300 patrol cars, about 25% of its force.

Technical glitches (i.e., enriching those who can’t fulfill their contracts) and lack of funds (i.e., GWBush-induced great recession) have hampered implementation:

That says it all right there about that Police chief, he’s a red face racists. I heard that the department of justice did not want them to release that video of the strong arm robbery, but they released it anyway.

    • August 16, 2014 at 12:56 pm

I was listening to one of the councilmen from Ferguson and he made a good point. Even if someone in the media made the FOIA request, the information should have been given ONLY to the person who asked for it; not publicly presented the way the police chief did it.

Since I don’t tweet, I love seeing all the tweets that is ‘citizen journalism’ at its best. Thanks to everyone.

Did anyone else hear what one of the guests on MHP say the following: Needs to be the Power of Example and not the Example of Power.
BOOM! He used the analogy of “spare the rod; spoil the child” and said it’s the opposite.

  16. August 16, 2014 at 12:24 pm

While it’s true that the militarization of police is a side issue from the real issue of #Ferguson PD murdering Michael Brown at will in broad daylight, it wouldn’t be a bad thing for MSM to rally support behind wasting tax payer dollars on this.

This article says that Department of Homeland Security paid for the $360K armored vehicle for #FergusonPD. Next tweet says that contractors built more than 24,000 MRAPs (armored vehicles) for Iraq/Afghanistan wars.

That’s $8 or $9 billion alone, yet the government is now absorbing costs of these “gifts” to police departments nationwide?

The continuing cost of the Iraq war makes my blood boil. Someone remind our legislators of this the next time the GOP want to go to war.

    Gotta run, bbl.

I was just watching MSNBC and their guest (I think he was a local State rep.?) said in passing that the shop owner where the surveillance video was from in Ferguson, said that he never called 911? Umm…what? The police said that they received a call.

Whe I got home from work yesterday around 3pm, I turned on
MSNBC and whichever host was on at that time said they were awaiting a statement from the shop owner. I kept theTV on waiting to hear his statement, then it was never mentioned again.
Anyone else hear any of this or did I dream it?
If there’s a 911 call, why haven’t we heard it?

    • 54 Linda
      August 16, 2014 at 12:38 pm

I also heard it….both on msnbc yesterday and today.

Also a report that the warrant for the video was not issued until Friday morning. No one has verified any of this yet.

Thanks for the corroboration. At least I know that I’m not hearing things.
None of this has anything to do with why this boy is dead, but because the police have been so deceptive, everything looks suspect.

    O/T but still important! http://www.politicususa.com/2014/08/16/rncc-fake-news-sites-fox.html

Aside from understanding that propaganda comes from all areas of the political spectrum, it’s as important to understand the tactics involved. The more obvious tactics include editing comments and images to distort their original content and context. Another obvious trick, favored by the Koch brothers, is buying deceptive ads where actors are presented as “victims” of the Affordable Care Act.

Since it is election season and the GOP’s attempt at re-branding was a flop, they are focusing on what they do best – spreading lies and misinformation. The NRCC has been busy creating over 20 fake news websites. They look like they could be new sites, but the content reads like something you’d see in a political ad or on Fox (which in many ways is one long political ad). All the NRCC websites come from the same domain: http://www.electionupdate2014.com. The sites are called (name of City) Update. They contain “analysis” of a Democratic opponent’s record that reads like a partisan hatchet job.

One example is a site called “San Antonio Update”:

Guy stopped at my door running for re-election on the county board, but couldn’t tell what political party he was from … so I gave him pretty blasé answers, when he asked if I had any issues with the county to pass along to him. So glad when I finally looked at the hand-out he gave me before leaving, I found he was a nice ol’ Democrat. Good thing I didn’t know that at the time, because Grandma would have given him a nice ol’ Democratic hug … but also would have thrown any RWNJ off her lawn!

I do plan later to go on his website and ask if the county has any military tanks they’d like to sell back to the Defense Department.
