    To The Brown Family,

I wish I had a word of automatic comfort but I don’t. I wish I could say that it will be alright on a certain or specific day but I can’t. I wish that all of the pain that I have endured could possibly ease some of yours but it won’t. What I can do for you is what has been done for me: pray for you then share my continuing journey as you begin yours.

I hate that you and your family must join this exclusive yet growing group of parents and relatives who have lost loved ones to senseless gun violence. Of particular concern is that so many of these gun violence cases involve children far too young. But Michael is much more than a police/gun violence case; Michael is your son. A son that barely had a chance to live. Our children are our future so whenever any of our children – black, white, brown, yellow, or red – are taken from us unnecessarily, it causes a never-ending pain that is like unlike anything I could have imagined experiencing.

Further complicating the pain and loss in this tragedy is the fact that the killer of your son is alive, known, and currently free. In fact, he is on paid administrative leave. Your own feelings will bounce between sorrow and anger. Even when you don’t want to think about it because it is so much to bear, you will be forced to by merely turning on your television or answering your cell phone. You may find yourselves pulled in many different directions by strangers who may be well-wishers or detractors. Your circle will necessarily close tighter because the trust you once, if ever, you had in “the system” and their agents are forever changed. Your lives are forever changed….continued

…But know this: neither of their lives shall be in vain. The galvanizations of our communities must be continued beyond the tragedies. While we fight injustice, we will also hold ourselves to an appropriate level of intelligent advocacy. If they refuse to hear us, we will make them feel us. Some will mistake that last statement as being negatively provocative. But feeling us means feeling our pain; imagining our plight as parents of slain children. We will no longer be ignored. We will bond, continue our fights for justice, and make them remember our children in an appropriate light. I would hate to think that our lawmakers and leaders would need to lose a child before protecting the rest of them and making the necessary changes NOW…

    With Heartfelt Support,

    Sybrina D. Fulton

Sybrina Fulton is articulate, loving and a real leader. Admire her totally.

LP, this letter is an act of love on Sybrina Fulton’s part. There is so much suffering and compassion in her words that they just wring your heart. I can only imagine how deeply affected the Brown family was to have Mr. Fulton reach out to them in this powerful way. She is a remarkable woman.

As I’m sure all of you are, am very concerned that we have not begun to see the extent of desperation and violence the #Ferguson PD and their allies are willing to effect in order to distract from the fact that Darren Wilson EXECUTED an unarmed teenager.

This ‘no curfew’ is an ambush.

Chips, The notification for new thread is not showing up on bottom right. Someone mentioned it on an earlier thread. I mentioned right about your “new diary” entry on last thread. :) Sure WP is playing games. Just wanted to be sure you are aware.

A bit on the lighter side. This morning, I mentioned that this is beautiful Maggie’s 16th birthday, or 112th, whatever. I asked what she thought of being a year older. She was rather blunt.

This is one of two people on twitter who regularly share really, really good, (clean), pointed tweets that I would love to retweet but can’t. I have no idea why either blocked me , and every time I see one of their goodies I wonder why. Ah, well.

Then you have those idiots you hadn’t even noticed and could care snap about, taking pains to tell you you are a ‘bigot bastard’ and *they* have blocked you.

mmm indeed – the FPD continues its lies in an attempt to gain “law and order” support. That they attack journalists and send them away – says it all.

  9. August 18, 2014 at 9:40 pm

This is the kind of thing that needs to happen at every network and cable station all over America.

This is good. Round up all the scary old people, or round up all the white people protesting, so it appears on camera that it’s all one-sided.

The clash of civilizations. It’s coming, isn’t it?

    • August 18, 2014 at 10:37 pm

Nope, not coming, amk. It has arrived and is playing out in real time on Twitter, globally.

Yes, We Live at that inevitable moment in the history of humanity that, given our species insatiable quest for communication, irrespective of the physical distance among communicators, in which the technology we’ve created is ubiquitous enough that it enables almost everyone (few tribal folk in remote regions, being the only exception) on the planet to participate in the outcome.

      Great time to be alive.

Enormous responsibility for Each person who is alive because we will decide if our species evolves further or becomes extinct.

And, we happen to be the only species in the known universe – at this time – with the capacity to use our language and communication technologies to document whether we select extinction or evolution.

Just clicked off Lawrence when someone talks about wanting “leadership from PBO” – is there NO-ONE else in the country with the ability to do anything!

It seems the media has completely run out of ideas – how about arresting the killer – getting rid of racist police – allowing people to protest

That may have been the first part of the show, which I didn’t see, but this part he had on the person who helped Dr Baden with the autospy and they talked over 20 minutes. Very interesting. This is a very professional gentleman. If you have questions about this autospy you should listen to this segment.

It was early in the show marilyn – he was interviewing a reporter (how they make themselves the news) and the reporter wanted pbo to show leadership and come to Ferguson. I clicked off.

While I appreciate the unity worldwide, how effing embarrassing to have this travesty of justice played out for the world. We truly are exceptional; in not a good way. Exceptional in telling bold lies about freedom and democracy here in the US. This awful ugliness of the police doing every thing they can – with the corporate media lapping it up — to defame the character of a boy executed by the police in broad daylight is what we would be horrified to see even in a third world country. And 8 days later the executioner is still free as a bird, living it large while people protesting without weapons have chemical weapons and tanks used against them. US Presidents are going to get laughed out of town the next time they go outside the country and attempt to lecture others about our democracy and freedom here.

Precisely, forus. And the WHOLE WORLD KNOWS IT.

A driver is stopped by a police officer.

The driver asks, “What’s the problem officer?”

Officer: “You were going at least 75 in a 55 zone.”

Man: “No sir, I was going 65.”

Wife: “Oh, Harry. You were going 80.” (The man gives his wife a dirty look.)

Officer: “I’m also going to give you a ticket for your broken tail light.”

Man: “Broken tail light? I didn’t know about a broken tail light!”

Wife: “Oh Harry, you’ve known about that tail light for weeks.” (The man gives his wife another dirty look.)

Officer: “I’m also going to give you a citation for not wearing your seatbelt.”

Man: “Oh I just took it off when you were walking up to the car.”

Wife: “Oh Harry, you never wear your seatbelt.”

The man turns to his wife and yells, “SHUT YOUR MOUTH!”

The Officer turns to the woman and asks, “Ma’am, does your husband talk to you this way all the time?”

The wife says, “No, only when he’s drunk.”

I know it is Dailykos but they have a post up that Senator Gillibrand had stepped up to help our Senatorial candidate Amanda Curtis. If you read the post there is an Act blue site up for Amanda and the Senator will match contributions up to $5,000 in the next 12 hours. If you could help amount would be welcomed. Thank you.

I wonder if the FPD and Jay Nixon heard President Obama say that “they” (administration) would be assessing the National Guard’s behavior regularly? They are on thin ice, as is the FPD, and, I think, so is Jay Nixon. PBO and Holder do not act hastily. They carefully accumulate evidence and analyze it, and build their cases…..nothing in haste. Something the media and certain emoprogs do not seem to understand yet about this team. They yell and yell, get absolutely nothing done, while these other two quietly work and accomplish much.

One word about people like Tavis Smiley and Cornel West and their constant harping that the president is not doing enough for AA’s. What the president knows is that he is president of ALL Americans, including older WASP women like me. I appreciate his acknowledgement and exercise of that belief and knowledge.

Ever since his election, people have expected him to do EVERYTHING!!! Visit all disaster sites, comfort all victims, make all decisions, do this, do that, say this, say that. It is time for some adults to step up and take responsibility themselves, which includes governors of states and Congress members and mayors, etc. He is ONE man, and is doing an absolutely magnificent job, but his presence is not demanded everywhere all the time. He has a very capable cabinet and he knows how to dispatch and use them, but they are only twelve people. I’m tired of whining from the left and hate from the right. All these people need to grow up.

This is just ridiculous and painful to watch…these police are baiting these protestors and when they don’t do what they say, even if they’re not misbehaving, the police posture and go all Robocop and grab someone out of the crowd to march back to military SWAT vehicle..this is BS…
