Cautiously optimistic. Did you see the news somewhere today that Iran and the US are jointly conducting the strikes in Iraq in every way but name? The enemy of my enemy……ISIL may be the one that will be left dealing with unforeseen consequences this time around. Wouldn’t that be a nice change.

      • September 3, 2014 at 11:02 pm

Yes, FoxfireTX. Have been tracking that closely and posted some info on it in an earlier thread, today. And, with regard to ….

“ISIL may be the one that will be left dealing with unforeseen consequences this time around. Wouldn’t that be a nice change.”

        In_DEED, it would be!!!

And, among the unanticipated consequences ISIL is already confronting is the fact that SA and Iran have been publicly communicating with each other.

Just poking my head in to say hello:) Was a work day AND son’s 20th birthday today…so we had a busy day at the homestead! So proud of President Obama…the entire world knows a great leader when they see one…he is meeting with serious people that want to seriously improve the world…a far cry from the juvenile delinquents that he has to deal with at home. I love his presence on the world stage. I have never been more proud than I am when he is abroad representing the US. Off to lurkdom and bed soon. Been a day…and hotter than crap. I’m so over the heat now….needs to be 80 – 85. Perfect:)

These newstainers and politicians are hysterically funny. They all love Joe’s bluster, “follow them to the gates of hell” which of course is Joe’s way. But PBO was so quiet and downright deadly in the way he described what he would do, I would be far more fearful of him than the screamers. You almost had to lean forward or turn up the volume to hear him. That steely determination says far more than all of the blowhards put together. .I #TrustBarack

Col. Angela Cadwell has seen some combat and, evidently, performed above and beyond ….

  10. September 3, 2014 at 11:31 pm

Question: on the Welcome to Wales video, the woman sitting on the couch in yellow and black said something about the president’s mother’s maiden name being Davies, and possibly as a Welsh ancestry. Is this referencing PBO’s mother? “Davies”? Does anyone know more about this? I thought PBO’s Mom has Irish ancestry from Moneygall

That.will be interesting to trace, and I’m sure someone will do it. I’ve noticed that those of us with ancestry in the British Isles pretty well are mixed up from all four countries.

I grew up thinking my grandfather’s family was Welsh……then, I went to Wales a few years ago, and got to talking to a woman in a department store. Told her my family story and family name, no, she said, that’s not a Welsh name……that’s a Bristol (England) name. And then I saw on a plaque honoring WWI dead in a church near Bristol, a soldier with my family’s name…….

zizi, yeah, I heard that also. I was so fascinated by the design of the green chair that she was perched in that I had to back up the video to listen to her again. I have NO IDEA what she was talking about. His mother’s name was Stanley Anne Dunham. And HER mother’s (PBO’s grandmother “Toot”) maiden name was Payne.

So McClownell is latching into that new poll from Kentucky has him at 50-46.

Strangely enough, if that is true, then Kentucky People will be first in history to re elect a Sitting Senator with a 27% approval rating.
He must be running one hell of a campaign?? LOL

Great post, NW. I have such a good feeling about PBO’s trip to Wales. It feels like Ireland to me. Very joyous. I know he is working so hard, but I always hope it’s refreshing too. Seeing different people. Having media that’s positive covering him. Dealing with people that actually work together for the common good of their countries. I thought his Estonia speech was so impressive. He really touched on something so important to the Baltic countries.

There is so much truth in Mike’s article. I especially liked that he wrote about the reason Pres Obama couldn’t leave troops in Iraq. They would have been subject to Iraqi law because the security agreement wasn’t signed. The President is going to watch out for the troops.

….What we do need is a President that actually thinks before he acts. Even though his options are so limited because of the damage the monkey from Texas did. Yet he will think and he will find a way to try and contain ISIS. Forget about destroying them, ain’t gonna happen. There will be no prolonged war, no large contingent of “boots on the ground” (the new favorite term for newsies who want to sound like they know …. about the military). Not happening. As Obama has told us many times, we could not leave troops in Iraq as the Iraqi government did not want them there and would not give any protections to those troops. They could have been arrested or worse if they did something the government didn’t like. So he did what was promised and gave the Iraqi’s the freedom they wanted and at the same time he protected our troops….

With all due respect Mr. Dionne, President Obama has articulated his foreign policy quite well. It’s why we voted for him in 2008, and then re-elected him in 2012. It’s why the American people continue to support his foreign policy decisions (as opposed to media pundits, GOPers and war hawks in congress). I don’t need any media pundit explaining to me what PBO’s foreign policy is – I already know because PBO has explained it better than any media pundit could ever hope to.
