Hi, Tally!
You did it! Send the gold medal to 57andfemale right now! :star:
Congrats on your early evening gold medal, 57.
I LOVE MICHELLE!!!
Tally, you are not alone!!!!!!
Congratulations 57!
Still lurking and catching up……STiILL!
Hello TOD family. I can attest to the perseverance that you pursue your dreams especially when people tell you not to. I was told I was not college material, I flunked out of my first year at the university because I was not prepared, I went to community college then transferred to the university and got my bachelors degree. I worked hard because I knew that there was no real future for a minority in America if you do not have a degree. Now it takes more than just a degree you need a higher degree if you plan to work for a company or agency. I would recommend minority youth to create their own jobs, don’t settle for working for a corporation, or if you do make them pursue you and pay you for your experience.
Big kudos to you!!!!!!!!!!! You could have been with FLOTUS today…..telling your story.
Thank you tnmtngirl…..
Thank you sooooOOooOOOooOOoooOOooOOoooooo much Nerdy!!!!
You’re welcome, Chips.
Oooh Thank you Nerdy! Remember the other day when I was bummed about my friend bitching about how she thought POTUS & FLOTUS weren’t addressing education? Can’t wait to pass this on to her! :-) You rock!
Yay! Glad to help, MadameSoph.
:)
:-)
In keeping with the theme of aiming higher, this just happened to me:
Not “may”, I *am* choked up. (Doesn’t help that I have one of Elvis Costello’s most heartbreaking songs running in a loop in my head.)
Congrats LL. How wonderful that is!!! Keep up the good work.
Comments like his are why I love my job, or one of the many reasons I love my job.
Nice article in the L.A. Times on the Elvis Costello concert you attended……
And I just learned that his album with The Roots is most likely his last. He wants to be a father to his kids with Diana Krall, and will do a show here and there.
Well you are lucky to see him in concert if he will be semi retired. His kids are eight years old and he’s 60yrs old although he could still produce an album into his 70’s.
LL, I definitely am grateful that my mom made me a library kid and got me a card at an early age. Every week we would go and get the max books allowed and I would read them and then go back and get more. The Library was my babysitter in the afternoons after school/before my mom got home from work (I was well-behaved :-) )
That foundation of reading made me into a good writer and those skills gave me a huge advantage in high school and later on (to this day) in seeking jobs and in numerous other ways.
I’m sure you’ve touched countless more lives you will never hear about. :-)
A key to lifetime academic success, reading to young children. My wife too our young daughter to story time at the public library. She became a school librarian herself. My daughter went on to do well in college and has a successful career as an oncology nurse.
Aw, such a beautiful moment, LL! Cherish that! Some people never get the chance to come back and thank those who’ve influenced them in their youth. Very cool of her Dad to seek you out and make that known. I’m all verklempt myself. [smiling & crying]
Bravo, sir! (And Bravo to the dad for mentioning it to you. He’s paying attention!)
Preach!!
“Whalen told authorities there was no local clinic available to perform an abortion and her daughter did not have health insurance to cover a hospital abortion, the Press Enterprise newspaper of Bloomsburg reported.
The closest abortion clinic to Whalen’s home is about 74 miles away in Harrisburg”.
Wow. How sad.
And a footballer who beats up his wife avoids jail time - the war on women is alive and well. Both mother and daughter will have massive issues after this.
Abortion is legal and should be covered under health insurance - as it is in most advanced countries.
I keep running across stories proving that so many of these evangelical mega church pastors are nutty—-and worse. I don’t get why people waste their time with this junk.
Gutierrez has never been shy about criticizing the President on the issue of immigration. Therefore, this message resonates all the more with Latinos who may be disappointed.
He’s telling it like it is. Don’t boo (the President) Vote (Dem).
Calling Dudette….
There’s a twitpic of the original members that I have tried to post for Dudette and the rest of TOD Trekkies, but twice now, I have failed to post it. :( Oh well, I give up.
Was it this one?
Duh, forgot the link
Hailing frequencies open! :-D
This one ;)
Funny how 2 of the same twitpic posted after a number of tries.
Pardon me for the duplicates…….
Yeah, but Wil is still mean to Sheldon.
The resolution also backed the United Nations resolution issued last month that imposed sanctions on a number of the group’s fighters and called on countries to adopt measures to combat terrorism. The council resolution was adopted under Chapter 7 of the U.N. Charter, meaning it can be militarily enforced.

Thankyew, thankyew verrrry much! :-D :-D :-D
UPDATE:
During his first gig as Meet the Press host, Chuck Todd also ridiculously and falsely accused President Obama of using the term “ISIL” and avoiding the term “ISIS” because President Obama does not want to mention the word Syria.
CHUCK TODD:
Obviously we refer to it at NBC News as ISIS. The Obama administration, president says the word ISIL. The last ‘S’ stands for Syria, the last L they don’t want to have stand for Syria.
~Chuck Todd on Meet the Press 9/8/2025
In June, 2014, the AP explained why they, the AP, use “ISIL” and not “ISIS”
In Arabic, the group is known as Al-Dawla Al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham, or the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham. The term “al-Sham” refers to a region stretching from southern Turkey through Syria to Egypt (also including Lebanon, Israel, the Palestinian territories and Jordan). The group’s stated goal is to restore an Islamic state, or caliphate, in this entire area.
~Associatedweb postune 2014 web post
The AP is correct. In Arabic the phrase is “al-Dawlet al-Islamiyyeh fi al-Iraq w al-Sham” literally translates to the Islamic State of (in) Iraq and the Levant. The final “S” in ISIS does not translate to Syria because the word Syria is not in the original Arabic language.

I thought PBO explained this the day of the “beige” suit? I guess our WHPC and media was so fixated on what he was wearing rather than what he was saying just like Upchuck did on his maiden show, Destruction of MTP.
Another Nail on the Liar’s Coffin. Todd is going down. Of course he won in the ratings Yesterday. From yesterday, after the show going forward, Todd is Toast!
Way to go, 57F!
Helloooo, everyone! I survived a day of work …. and it looks like I have to actually go in all week. This means I won’t be able to hang around for an entire week, plus I have to attend a weekend conference this Friday to Sunday! Yikes!! Sure hope there won’t be too many naughty mice playing around in the village in my absence. Anyhoo, as I’m here now, I’ll stick my nose in a past post or two to see what you have all been doing.
Is WP in a funk this evening? It ate up 4 posts of mine ;)
I listen to FLOTUS wonderful speech again the other day she gave at Maya Angelou memorial service.
<3 <3 my fellow four eyes. Look her pink specs ;)
Love the “eye level” - that is someone who understands!
Love that too 99ts, and he does that all the time, a lovely human touch, eye to eye with kids!
cilic wins 6-3 6-3 6-3. Yes, the match was as robotic as the scoreline. boooring.
It’s already over? I have forgotten to look for the game on line..
The Guy from Japan lost really bad.
Yawn!
Politico reporter Glenn Thrush offered his take Monday on the fallout surrounding former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice. It was not well-received.
In a tweet, Thrush joined many in questioning the sincerity of the decision by the Ravens to cut Rice after surveillance footage emerged reportedly showing the player punching his then-fiancee, Janay Palmer, inside an Atlantic City hotel elevator.
But Thrush stepped in it when he seemed to question the wisdom to terminate Rice’s contract, arguing that the team “cut income” to the abused woman.
“Inconvenient truth: In terminating Ray Rice, Ravens cut income to Rice’s wife whom they now care so deeply about,” wrote Thrush, prompting ridicule and criticism from several others on Twitter.

He has a Co-supporter. Dr. Ben Carlson.
Community leaders noted the lack of African Americans after Christie’s office released the list of invitees to today’s summit, Shabazz said. He called the exclusion “polite insensitivity” and a snapshot of race relations in South Jersey.
“This has been a pattern. This is not something that just happened because of this activity. It happens every time there are major discussions. No one is saying blacks can’t come and talk about the future of Atlantic City, but they’re just not invited. The tone is different from the past, but the result is the same,” he said.
You are a FORCE on Voting. Great Job, Donna!
Ex-Aide: McMorris Rogers Retaliated Against Me For Ethics Complaint
Todd Winer, the former communications director for Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) decided to break his “silence in the Cathy McMorris Rodgers scandal” on Monday, alleging that the congresswoman retaliated against him for filing an ethics complaint against her.
Winer served as communications director for McMorris Rodgers before he was let go in January 2013. He filed an ethics complaint several months later, in July 2013, against the Washington congresswoman alleging that she used taxpayer-funded staff and taxpayer-funded resources to help mount her bid for Republican conference committee chairwoman in November 2012.
Winer also said that he was interviewed by the Ethics Committee last week, but that the interview was targeting a different question than the one that he raised in his complaint.

Philadelphia Is About To Be America’s Largest City To Decriminalize Marijuana »
The Huffington Post | Andy Campbell | September 08, 2025 at 05:32 PM
Pretty soon, you won’t be considered a criminal for carrying around a little weed in Philadelphia. Philly Mayor Michael Nutter confirmed Monday that he will sign a bill into law that will make his city the largest in America to decriminalize marijuana possession, Philly Mag reports. Essentially it softens the penalty for such an offense from possible jail time to a $25 fine.
Another needless, senseless and tragic gun death today of a 2 or 3 yr. old boy in Ga. Aunt and uncle have been charged. Aunt was supposed to be watching the boy while his mother was at work but she was said to be asleep. Uncle found the lifeless boy when he came home and threw the gun in a storm sewer which was retrieved. Suspicion currently is that the toddler found the loaded automatic hand gun and shot himself, pending further tests.

Doster3, and the Teabaggers are taking them to the range to practice how to shoot.
They take pictures of them surrounded with loads of ammunition around them. Water guns are played with at early ages.
We never bought toy guns nor water gins for our kids. It starts early.
Who decides when someone should be charged? So many seem to written off as “accidents”. I may have a clue
I just wanted de-lurk for a moment to say how much I respect, adore and love Micelle Obama. I could care less how she wears her hair and what she wears because this strong, independent, caring, smart, intelligent woman has substance. She understand and gets it inside and outside of Washington, D.C. I am so glad our President’s heart beats for hers only and his eyes lights up when she enterers a room.
This woman has changed my life so much that for once in my life I can truly say our girls and girls all over the world can stand proud of what a First Lady looks like. She can and will hold her own. When I read about the Queen of Sheba of biblical days, Michelle comes to mind. Strong, independent, sophisticated, learned. She accentuates the positive in a man and makes him feel blessed to have simply been in HER presence.
President Obama, so glad you waited.
LDS, I love what you just wrote about our First Lady. Thank you.
Thank you, Annibella.
She compliments our President as well as he does her. They were destined to be together.
She is so smart. I am so glad he left New York(even though I live here) and moved to Chicago.
I heard they were looking for an apartment here. It could be MY wishful thinking, though.
That was a beautiful tribute, and so very true. I love how they love each other, as well.
PBO AND VP BIDEN:
Jane Harman and Richard Hasss……Not my cup of tea.
I guess POTUS is doing his Team of Rivals thing because Hadley is horrible, too.
I know. That is the kind of Leader POTUS is. I respect him for that.
Is POTUS meeting tomorrow with the Congressional leaders at the WH or Capitol Hill. And it says alot that the House Republicans are meeting with Dick Cheney. Alot that is not good.
Per Josh “The Voice” Earnest, the president invited the 4 Leaders: Reid, McConnell, Pelosi and the Weeper, Boehner to the WH tomorrow. His people, I am sure would be made available for the rest of Congress…….will be my guess.

Without any doubt, President Obama’s energy policies and leadership are a significant factor & could well lead to the price remaining below $ 100/barrel. We’ll see ….

Despite all the shenanigans and the distortions injected by the unruly despicable WHPC, Josh was Fantastic.
Bit worried about their jobs - dragging out an arrest and trial for the killing of Mike Brown will not work in the council’s favor
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/polltracker/kansas-senate-poll-roberts-trails-orman
After a monumental shake-up last week in which the Democratic nominee attempted to drop out of the Kansas Senate race, incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) trails independent candidate Greg Orman by 1 percentage point, according to a poll released Monday.
The KSN News/Survey USA poll found Orman narrowly edging Roberts, 37 percent to 36 percent, though that is well within the margin of error.
/////
I have no doubt that KS may break the 1932 jinx. The last time, KS sent a Dem Senator to DC. Note, the I candidate has not begin to fight.
No wonder the GOP SoS refuses to take the dem off the ballot - he has 10% in that poll - which presumably should be for Greg Orman
