Is John Boehner alive? I’m hearing virtually nothing about him - but in 2010, the MSM was all raging about Pelosi, Reid and PBO.
GOP had a well oiled Media Echo chamber……The Left has nothing.
That is why……when people snide about the Liberal Media, I want to spit at them.
The GOP and the MSM are now in the business of screaming at those trying or working to make things better.
That allows the GOP to continue to inch their wicked ways, further right. No one is holding them accountable. They have the coin with heads on the two sides of the coin. Either way, win or lose politically, electorally, it their issues and ideas that dominate the Media Culture.

IDK I guess its just me but it amazes me that people are surprised at the level of negativity toward PBO on MSNBC. That station has been doing this since right after he won in 2008. A lot of people pine for Olbermann but he was one of the first who started with the negativity about PBO. He was a favorite “son” of DailyKos who started their hatefest as soon as PBO picked his transition team. I knew exactly what Keith would be featuring on his show at night just by looking at the ‘recommended” essays featured on that website daily.
I’ll never forget Chris Matthews having one of those gun nuts on his show who proudly carried his assault weapon while protesting President Obama when he was in Arizona in 2009. It was the height of sensationalism.
Chuck Todd is vengeful and doesn’t like that this WH doesn’t give the media complete access so he takes it out on them with every negative story that he can feature. I try not to wish harm on anyone but I am rooting for MTP to fail.
And don’t get me started about how they highlighted those bogus ObamaCare Townhalls until they were all the rage by 2010.
They are NOT a LIBERAL news station. They are infotainment masquerading as news people. Only Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell have ever actually had the title of new reporters although I question each of their qualifications.
Their ratings will continue to sink because they don’t cater to us like Fox does to their viewers. Cable news is not network news it’s entertainment with a whole lot of opinion and very little news. You cannot run a 24/7 cable news show on just straight news. No one would watch it so this is what you get. A whole lot of mess and an ignorant public.

I think when Keith O went on his first anti-Obama rant, I was shocked and taken aback. And when most nights turned into Obama-bashing, I pretty much stopped watching MSNBC. That was around 2009. PBO didn’t sweep into office, snap his fingers, and make everything a Winter Wonderland, so ergo he was a failure. But even if he had worked wizard’s magic, MSNBC would’ve found something else to complain about, because as you said, it’s not liberal, it just plays liberal on TV.
Totally ALL of this, Donna. I stopped watching and reading everything soon after PBO was elected. All of the headlines from HuffPuff to all of the so-called news shows were so negative, dismissive and downright hateful that it was a no-brainer to turn them off and tune them out. As I have shared in various posts in the past, I had a journalism background before I became a teacher. All that I was taught about being objective, stringent fact-checking, reporters NOT becoming the story, and the responsibility that the 4th Estate had as part of a democracy, have been lost in this age of few independent voices when almost all the media is owned by a few huge corporations who have an agenda. I long for the days when reporters will get back to their true roles and responsibilities. We could have avoided many of the ills that are currently hurting our country.
Donna this post ought to be front-paged. I have to shake my head when I see people whining about something Tweety said and acting as though he just changed in the last few months. This has been going from day 1.
MSNBC is a BIG reason why the GOP did so well in 2010. Apart from their 24/7 love affair with Sarah Palin, the Tea Party and idiotic anti-Obama townhalls, they constantly had Anthony Weiner, Alan Grayson and Dennis Kuchinich on to bash PBO. They gave these frauds a platform, not to expose the GOP’s bad governing policies, but to attack the President under the guise of wanting to “push him to the left” whatever the hell that was supposed to mean.
Now they’re a slightly more clever in the way they attack PBO - but the venom is as rabid as ever, and now we’re down to the last few weeks before the midterms and things are not looking all that rosy for the GOP, they’re not even hiding their anti-Obama vitriol that much.
I don’t recall GWB giving complete access. In fact, he was selective about who he *did* give access to, and it wasn’t the liberal/progressive journalists.

And while there is still a segment of the population that believe that all that comes through MSM is fact. But either they are slow to learn, or they are being stubborn, that there are segments of the population for which the MSM is no longer *the* dictator of thought.
You would be surprised how many people in this country take MSM as gospel. They don’t tweet or Facebook or Blog or do much more than pay their bills online and I’m not talking about our Seniors. These people are 30/40/50 somethings. We assume because so many are now using social media that most everyone uses social media and that is simply not the case. But with those of us on social media we are in a better position to get the facts and share it with those that are not.
I’ll let that sink in while I zzzzz away.

For people who’ve watched the Roberts Court whittle away civil rights legislation over the last decade, the new Supreme Court term brings with it the likely possibility of more of the same. The High Court is set to consider Alabama’s so-called “racial gerrymandering�? and Texas’ low-income housing practices this term. In the former, it has the opportunity to take further swipes at the Voting Rights Act, and in the latter, eviscerate the cornerstone enforcement provision of the Fair Housing Act. Civil rights watchers and fair housing advocates in particular are bracing for the worst

Indeed donna. I saw on a tweet that 33% of the in person voting yesterday came from African Americans. I would like to think that most of these voted Democrats. If this trend holds through election day, that would be on par with or even exceeding AA representation of 30.5% in the general Georgia population. This is a different scenario from 2010, in which AA voters made up 28% of the vote in the state of Georgia.

Especially given that there are 40,000 voter registration applications that have not been processed — Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Clayton Counties are among a large portion. Plus the fact that there tend to be problems in precincts that are predominately minority.
Hopefully, the saints will take advantage in those counties that will have early voting on Sunday, October 26th.

I was about to comment on this yesterday then got sidetracked. I thought it was so typical that a ‘first black CEO’ is rarely hired when nothing needs fixing. As soon as he straightens things out he’ll be history, and if he doesn’t straighten stuff out by his first quarter, he’ll be a ‘failure’.
