President Obama poses with Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan as they arrive for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit banquet at the National Aquatics Center in the Chinese capital on November 10, 2025
The great thing is that he never looks awkward or out of place in international clothes, unlike some former presidents I could name. It’s as if he was born a world citizen, as well as an American, and can move with ease wherever he lands. Of course, it helps that he’s tall, lean, holds himself beautifully and is incredibly handsome. Plus he shows respect for other cultures and behaves with natural grace and class. The shirt looks comfortable and I’ll bet the Chinese custom made it to his measurements.
JackieG, you’re so right about PBO always looks comfortable in international settings.
GQ models can only wish they had his aplomb. (Course it doesn’t hurt that international leaders and royalties cast admiring glances his way — calls to mind that line from Puff the Magic Dragon — “noble kings and princes would bow when ere they came.”)
The old saw “would look good in a burlap bag” comes to mind.
Oh, exactly Jackie, its his respect for and interest in other cultures that shines through on these trips, and as you said, his complete ease. And the shirts - oh, the shirts!
Can’t wait for the snide remarks to start surfacing such as when he wore his notorious “tan suit”!! OMG what was he thinking, no class, etc. from all the hate pundits. He truly is a remarkable President.
Good Morning Chips and TOD family. My, My, My our President is sure looking good in that shirt today! ( and everything else I’ve seen him in.) Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone has a better week than last week.. Wasn’t sure I was going to spring back from the elections!
Gobsmacked! I’ve been receiving retweets, favorites, and tweets from people home and around the world expressing the same sentiments. They all regard him as a national treasure and wish he was their leader.
This is what drives the media, conservatives, libertarians, and some self-proclaimed liberals crazy. No matter what they do, no matter how much mud they try to falsely throw at him, it will NEVER stick because President Barack Obama is truly well liked, admired, and loved around the world.
"When you are done with Obama, could you send him our way?"
A Canadian reminding Americans just how lucky we are. pic.twitter.com/0U1ySoJkU7
Nerdy, can’t tell you how proud I am of you for not only posting this tweet, but earning the acclaim it rightly deserves. I hope tens of thousands of people around the world keep retweeting it every day.
1) PBO’s accomplishments, evident to someone not burdened by MSM #BlameObama #TanSuitGate spin doctors.
2) Soul-searching now required by @DCCC, @DWStweets, @DSCC, @israelDCCC as to why they believed that running away from the best American politician was a good idea.
It makes my heart sing, Nerdy - how absolutely wonderful that this is being RTed by so many, sending the message far and wide. I told you you were a LEGEND!!!!!
I LOVE that you tweeted this and that the reception to it has been so phenomenal! Really shows how such a simple truth can resonate with thousands around the world. Thank you, NW!
I hope Richard Brunt is also feeling pretty astonished to have his opinion published in the paper, and now to be rocketing around the entire world along with our NerdyWonka and TheObamaDiary!! I imagine that little ol’ hit counter will be jogging off the rails. Hold onto your hats, WordPress, you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet! HaHa! Way to Go, Nerdy! You Rock Star!!
I see NBC is taking AP’s lead—-or the entire news media is coordinated——Kristen Welker who is travelling with PBO just made a big deal about Obama’s “diminished status on the world stage following the election last week.” Usually they don’t report on PBO’s travels—-looks like they included a report today just so they could say “diminished status”—-like it was all planned out. Disgusting. And disturbing to the max.
Doesn’t matter where you turn, the “diminished: message is the same:
undermine the American President while he is on foreign soil
undermine the American President while he is in China, our most feared adversary
Same spin as 2009 during PBO’s last visit to China:
Another big hit piece on Valerie Jarrett by Noam Scheiber in The New Republic. Gosh, if I didn’t know better, I might think these stories are being fed by Clintonistas who served in PBO’s WH. Especially when this article tries to paint BC’s admin in a better light in contrast.
According to TPM Hillary is going to make Health care a winner in 2016 - not to mention income inequality, the middle class and wages. Seems the media is now going to give all of PBO’s success stories to a Clinton.
She’s already signaled she’s willing to tinker with the medical device tax, which is an important source of funding for other functions of the ACA. Honestly, she just doesn’t know what she’s doing. Yes, she’s going to run on making income equality a central issue. But there’s no much the federal government can do in the way of fixing that. And as a women of vast wealth, it will be interesting to see how this resonates with the general population.
Don, the NYTimes front page is already talking about the GOP route to the WH.
The 2014 wipeout which Clintonland bears much responsibility for, has opened the door to a Republican presidential win. I think the Clintons know that, knew that and last Tuesday was the revenge of the Clintons. I wouldn’t be surprised if they hand the baton over sooner rather than later.
My plan is to enjoy every second of every day until Jan.17, 2017, and then remove my atention from US politics forever.
But methinks this is exactly what PBO doesn’t want us to do - to give up. He is making a tremendous effort to teach us to stay awake and involved. Granted, it will be harder, but We Can Do It! We Must!
Good morning, wonderful, beautiful, good-to-the-max family of TOD. Been lurking for a while, but following along with gratitude. The election took me down, but not out, thanks entirely to this place and you people. Like watching Ferguson turn into a terrible storm, and worsen by the day, the results broke my heart and stunned me. Couldn’t believe it, couldn’t take it in, tuned out almost completely, even here, till I heard about the press conference with our mighty hero POTUS speaking to the nation; came in just as PBO called on Ed Henry, and while President Obama handled it with typical brilliance and power and grace, the venomous intention and entitled rudeness dished out got to me and I turned it off. I didn’t even come here until much later in the day, and of course, OF COURSE, everything I needed was here. Got me through the night, and the next day I put on the press conference, buoyed by TOD comments about it, and turned the corner. What a genius, what a leader, what a class act, what a big, bold, inspiring, unflappable, witty, comfortable, honest, no-nonsense in-charge superstar he was. As rotten and snide and scummy as they were, that is the same intensity of stylishly tossing the grenades right back over to the side of wrong, where they blew up, ever so gently, as stink bombs, in the faces of the unworthy, ignorant, pandering-to-their-puppetmasters bomb-tossers. I love our President more now than ever, and between coming here many times daily, and watching most of the Salute to the Troops concert which I only knew about and found because of TOD, I have been picking myself up, dusting myself off, babystepping forward every day since. I cannot imagine getting through this time without TOD. Chipstix, you built and maintain and fuel the heat and aircon in this mighty fortress and sweet and comy retreat center where it feels safe, sane, and secure from harm and madness. Nerdywonka, you are ever on patrol, on point, on fire and on time, doing the detective work, the reconissance (spelling?), the analysis, the gleaning and the communicating of all on earth we need to know, on every level. That you could find things to make me smile and even laugh a time or two through this toxic and sorrow-laden week, is beyond understanding but oh yes you did, I do not know how. You, Ms. Wonka, are a journalist of the highest order, seeking, finding and bringing in the stories, and sharing the words and news we can use and believe. Legend! LL, you keep finding the words when there are no words, making sense out of it all, despite it all, zeroing in on the heart of the matter, with passion articulated clearly and pointedly and beautifully. Everybody who has commented, whether expressing the pain or expressing the truth that we can and will go on, and reminding us who we are, where we are, and why we are here: “thank you” seems small, not quite enough, but it’s what I’ve got at this moment, and I say it with a full, healing heart. Thankful that TOD always keeps the lights on, the front walk shoveled, and some comfort food simmering on the spiritual stove. As Bobfr says, I Trust Barack, and as the cool song says, “FORWARD!”.
Good morning TOD! Good morning Chips! Wow…PBO is looking good in that shirt. :)
Moooooooorning Sophia, moooooorning everyone!
Good Morning, Sophia….earliest bird today! :-)
Hi swbluega! Wooooohooooo! Nice to be first!
Morning Chips. May I say that our president looks wonderful in anything he wears.
Goooooooood morning Jackie! He’s looking exceptional!
Hear, hear! Good Morning Jackie. Your statement is so true. He looks so elegant!
This statement is 100% spot on.
Exactly as you say, jackie. This is what I really love about him. Truly a man of the world.
Custom tailored for sure, with some very excellent Chinese silk, no doubt! The color is stunning!
Can’t wait for the snide remarks to start surfacing such as when he wore his notorious “tan suit”!! OMG what was he thinking, no class, etc. from all the hate pundits. He truly is a remarkable President.
Omg. Must. Have. A. Shirt. Exactly. Like. That. One. (even tho it is obviously a man’s shirt) (who cares)
Good Morning, JackieG!
[Heavy Sigh] :-)
“You wear it well,” Mr. President. You wear it well. (I think that is a Rod Stewart lyric)
Oh My!!!!
Good Monday, Chipsticks…TOD Family!
Everyone have a fantastic start to your week! :-)
Good morning to ya swbluega!
SW, I love the cheery images you manage to find. Someday, you will have to teach me how you do it.
tinypic has become a very good friend of mine. ;-)
Happy Monday TODers!!
Heeeeeeya Chips
Good Morning, Africa! Enjoy your day. :-)
Heyaaaaaaa Africaaaaaaaa!!!
GM Chips and TOD.
Good Morning Chips and TOD family. My, My, My our President is sure looking good in that shirt today! ( and everything else I’ve seen him in.) Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone has a better week than last week.. Wasn’t sure I was going to spring back from the elections!

Thanks for sharing the link to PBO’s speech, lara.
Interesting to see all the cameras out taking a picture of this “tarnished star.”
Good Morning Everybody.
GM, JER! Thank you!
Thank you, JER. I am still learning how to post videos. Need a lot of practice.
Good morning Chips ~ TOD.. happy Monday :)
View from a video screen:
MOooooOoorning, Chiparoo and TOD!
I believe we have another contender for ‘THE SHIRT!’ Lovely color and cut.
President Barack Obama: Making Mondays Get Off To A Wonderful Start. :)

I couldn’t agree more!
x2
Yes, two important messages in NW’s iconic tweet.

MSM/Kochs in lockstep.

Same spin as 2009 during PBO’s last visit to China:
http://www.cjr.org/campaign_desk/not_for_all_the_news_in_china.php?page=all
From the article:
“Everything is shot through this prism of short-term political calculation as opposed to thinking seriously about stuff.”
Bwahahaha! I’m sorry. Sometimes the 12-yr-old in me just takes over!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…
What an apt visual for the ‘d**k’ Putin truly is.
This Putin man is really a show off. It’s all about him.
Sarah Palin must have an org**m watching this!
And W as well, thinking about his SoulMate!! They are all so stupid.
OH, MY.
What’s hysterical is how excited the tweeter is about the viral nature of his tweet.
Course 5K RTs is nothing to sneeze at.
President Obama always looks very handsome in international garb.
Apparently, there were different color APEC shirts.
President Barack Obama’s group’s color hands down for the win.
Yep! :-)
Magnificent Magenta! :-D
Got that from this cool color chart!
definitely magenta—great color.
This shirt is cut longer than “The Shirt” last time, I think
Seeing My President looking and feeling good is kinda contagious! :-)
Everybody have a terrific day!

Welcoming my POTUS in Beijing.

Awesome!
The only thing President Obama is missing is a black glove and he can be Mr. Han from “Enter the Dragon.”
Day 6
Has anyone seen the Clintons?
According to TPM Hillary is going to make Health care a winner in 2016 - not to mention income inequality, the middle class and wages. Seems the media is now going to give all of PBO’s success stories to a Clinton.

I say let her try to claim President Obama’s successes all she wants to, she won’t sniff the inside of the Whitehouse.
Queen Latifah has…
last tweet from her is from october 25

But he has NO REGRETS.
“Christian values”
The poor and middle class must not be trying hard enough. That is how the Republicans feel.
Good morning

Thank you Nancy.
I too turned off the media after the election — was no mood for smug gloating.
And that press conference was an exercise in how *not* to be a journalist. Just appalling behavior by WHPC jackals.
Invigorated and charmed by PBO during the presser, loved his steely resolve.
#POTUSunplugged #Forward #BackBarack
Beautiful comment! Yes We Can.
Pure elegance personified.
Morning!
