Morning Chips. May I say that our president looks wonderful in anything he wears.

Goooooooood morning Jackie! He’s looking exceptional!

The great thing is that he never looks awkward or out of place in international clothes, unlike some former presidents I could name. It’s as if he was born a world citizen, as well as an American, and can move with ease wherever he lands. Of course, it helps that he’s tall, lean, holds himself beautifully and is incredibly handsome. Plus he shows respect for other cultures and behaves with natural grace and class. The shirt looks comfortable and I’ll bet the Chinese custom made it to his measurements.

JackieG, you’re so right about PBO always looks comfortable in international settings.

GQ models can only wish they had his aplomb. (Course it doesn’t hurt that international leaders and royalties cast admiring glances his way — calls to mind that line from Puff the Magic Dragon — “noble kings and princes would bow when ere they came.”)

The old saw “would look good in a burlap bag” comes to mind.

        • November 10, 2025 at 7:59 am

Oh, exactly Jackie, its his respect for and interest in other cultures that shines through on these trips, and as you said, his complete ease. And the shirts - oh, the shirts!

Gobsmacked! I’ve been receiving retweets, favorites, and tweets from people home and around the world expressing the same sentiments. They all regard him as a national treasure and wish he was their leader.

This is what drives the media, conservatives, libertarians, and some self-proclaimed liberals crazy. No matter what they do, no matter how much mud they try to falsely throw at him, it will NEVER stick because President Barack Obama is truly well liked, admired, and loved around the world.

I see NBC is taking AP’s lead—-or the entire news media is coordinated——Kristen Welker who is travelling with PBO just made a big deal about Obama’s “diminished status on the world stage following the election last week.” Usually they don’t report on PBO’s travels—-looks like they included a report today just so they could say “diminished status”—-like it was all planned out. Disgusting. And disturbing to the max.

    • 45 arapaho415

      MSM/Kochs in lockstep.

Doesn’t matter where you turn, the “diminished: message is the same:
undermine the American President while he is on foreign soil
undermine the American President while he is in China, our most feared adversary

Same spin as 2009 during PBO’s last visit to China:

      http://www.cjr.org/campaign_desk/not_for_all_the_news_in_china.php?page=all

      From the article:
“Everything is shot through this prism of short-term political calculation as opposed to thinking seriously about stuff.”

Another big hit piece on Valerie Jarrett by Noam Scheiber in The New Republic. Gosh, if I didn’t know better, I might think these stories are being fed by Clintonistas who served in PBO’s WH. Especially when this article tries to paint BC’s admin in a better light in contrast.

According to TPM Hillary is going to make Health care a winner in 2016 - not to mention income inequality, the middle class and wages. Seems the media is now going to give all of PBO’s success stories to a Clinton.

She’s already signaled she’s willing to tinker with the medical device tax, which is an important source of funding for other functions of the ACA. Honestly, she just doesn’t know what she’s doing. Yes, she’s going to run on making income equality a central issue. But there’s no much the federal government can do in the way of fixing that. And as a women of vast wealth, it will be interesting to see how this resonates with the general population.

Don, the NYTimes front page is already talking about the GOP route to the WH.

The 2014 wipeout which Clintonland bears much responsibility for, has opened the door to a Republican presidential win. I think the Clintons know that, knew that and last Tuesday was the revenge of the Clintons. I wouldn’t be surprised if they hand the baton over sooner rather than later.

My plan is to enjoy every second of every day until Jan.17, 2017, and then remove my atention from US politics forever.

Good morning, wonderful, beautiful, good-to-the-max family of TOD. Been lurking for a while, but following along with gratitude. The election took me down, but not out, thanks entirely to this place and you people. Like watching Ferguson turn into a terrible storm, and worsen by the day, the results broke my heart and stunned me. Couldn’t believe it, couldn’t take it in, tuned out almost completely, even here, till I heard about the press conference with our mighty hero POTUS speaking to the nation; came in just as PBO called on Ed Henry, and while President Obama handled it with typical brilliance and power and grace, the venomous intention and entitled rudeness dished out got to me and I turned it off. I didn’t even come here until much later in the day, and of course, OF COURSE, everything I needed was here. Got me through the night, and the next day I put on the press conference, buoyed by TOD comments about it, and turned the corner. What a genius, what a leader, what a class act, what a big, bold, inspiring, unflappable, witty, comfortable, honest, no-nonsense in-charge superstar he was. As rotten and snide and scummy as they were, that is the same intensity of stylishly tossing the grenades right back over to the side of wrong, where they blew up, ever so gently, as stink bombs, in the faces of the unworthy, ignorant, pandering-to-their-puppetmasters bomb-tossers. I love our President more now than ever, and between coming here many times daily, and watching most of the Salute to the Troops concert which I only knew about and found because of TOD, I have been picking myself up, dusting myself off, babystepping forward every day since. I cannot imagine getting through this time without TOD. Chipstix, you built and maintain and fuel the heat and aircon in this mighty fortress and sweet and comy retreat center where it feels safe, sane, and secure from harm and madness. Nerdywonka, you are ever on patrol, on point, on fire and on time, doing the detective work, the reconissance (spelling?), the analysis, the gleaning and the communicating of all on earth we need to know, on every level. That you could find things to make me smile and even laugh a time or two through this toxic and sorrow-laden week, is beyond understanding but oh yes you did, I do not know how. You, Ms. Wonka, are a journalist of the highest order, seeking, finding and bringing in the stories, and sharing the words and news we can use and believe. Legend! LL, you keep finding the words when there are no words, making sense out of it all, despite it all, zeroing in on the heart of the matter, with passion articulated clearly and pointedly and beautifully. Everybody who has commented, whether expressing the pain or expressing the truth that we can and will go on, and reminding us who we are, where we are, and why we are here: “thank you” seems small, not quite enough, but it’s what I’ve got at this moment, and I say it with a full, healing heart. Thankful that TOD always keeps the lights on, the front walk shoveled, and some comfort food simmering on the spiritual stove. As Bobfr says, I Trust Barack, and as the cool song says, “FORWARD!”.

      Thank you Nancy.

I too turned off the media after the election — was no mood for smug gloating.

And that press conference was an exercise in how *not* to be a journalist. Just appalling behavior by WHPC jackals.

Invigorated and charmed by PBO during the presser, loved his steely resolve.
