And on my steenkin’ iPhone too! It’s about to die of natural causes built in by apple apple apple, and so is my iPad! All causing me to rethink apple apple apple, planned obsolesence, just like the auto industry. It’s all about profit, eh?

        • November 16, 2025 at 9:51 pm

Grrrr, don’t start me MightyP, I’ve had nothing but trouble with my iPhone, having had to return its predecessor - was told it was just one of 10,000 in the world that had a battery that might explode. I was very proud :???: So, the current one has been acting up too. Agonized over whether to get another iPhone, finally decided I would, but if this one causes me trouble: NEVER again!

Now MP, you know apples, kept too long, will rot! Sorry to hear yours chose now though. Is your car back in play, at least?

Oh! My car - the poor mechanic who fixed it, was determined to find out why his repair work kept failing (3x) and I swear he has put an extra 20 hours labor plus extra parts into it, rewired a whole buncha stuff, refused to charge me (which I couldn’t have paid anyway) and I rode back and forth on the buses for three weeks in a row, as he had to keep the car overnight twice! Ai Yai Yai! Had me wishing I could get by without a car, but am not quite there yet.

          Oh no No Chipsticks! I’m so barely-techie, I can fuss over anything, but my daughter who is Mega-High-Tech was finally so fed up (and singed with apple) she researched phones, settled in an LG G3, and is in love with phones again! I don’t think having a 1-in-a-million phone which can catch fire in your ear is a great selling point! But I’ve been hesitant ever since reading that the Chinese kids who work in Apple factory have to sign an agreement not to commit suicide while working there, as some have been known to trowel themselves from the top of the factory roof. Hello. Hesitant, is mild, really;
          that haunts me every day.

Welcome home, Mr. President! Even though CBS spelled “President” (Presineet) wrong….you really ARE neat! Guess this is kinda like when they thought “Obamacare” was going to be a bad thing:) Karma, baby!

These tweets are an absolute hoot, but I can TOTALLY relate to the leaves one, had EXACTLY that thought today as I struggled to open the door because of the flippin’ mountain of them outside!!

      November 16, 2025 at 10:09 pm

Our trees are evergreen - the leaves do not fall - except - we are again in the midst of a drought & our lawn that used to be is nothing but dead leaves. We don’t do raking up leaves - I’ve not seen this before - even in the last drought we got rain that kept the leaves on the trees! Now all we get are massive storms that may/maynot bring some rain.

But there is no climate change in Australia

      • November 16, 2025 at 10:13 pm

Oh heck 99ts, I couldn’t be handling those massive storms, I’d take infuriating falling leaves over them any day. When I rule the world I will ban those storms, but I’ll give you as much rain as you like - I’ll ship it over from Ireland.

A lady was walking down the street to work and she saw a parrot on a perch in front of a pet store.

The parrot said to her, “Hey lady, you are really ugly.” Well, the lady is furious!

She stormed past the store to her work.

On the way home she saw the same parrot and it said to her, “Hey lady, you are really ugly.” She was incredibly ticked now.

The next day the same parrot again said to her, “Hey lady, you are really ugly.”

The lady was so ticked that she went into the store and warned she would sue the store and kill the bird. The store manager replied profusely and promised he would make sure the parrot didn’t say it again.

When the lady walked past the store that day after work the parrot called to her, “Hey lady.”

    She paused and said,”Yes?”

    The bird said, “You know.”

That is a wonderful tribute to all the work of countless caring Americans to ensure that it would be as easy as possible for their fellow Americans to obtain affordable health care.

    Time is like a river.
You cannot touch the water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of life. As a Bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper’s cemetery in the Nova Scotia back country.

As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a typical man, I didn’t stop for directions.

I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn’t know what else to do, so I started to play.

The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like I’ve never played before for this homeless man. And as I played “Amazing Grace”, the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. When I finished, I packed up my bagpipes and started for my car. Though my head was hung low, my heart was full.

As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, “I never seen nothing like that before and I’ve been putting in septic tanks for twenty years.”

    Apparently I’m still lost…

Got home 90 min ago and just caught up on the epic, thorough and wonderful weekend TOD posts! Thanks to Chips, Nerdy and all contributors for following PBO’s trip so beautifully! I also listened to the Press Conf after you all praised our Pres for his epic answers to the disrespectful (not only to PBO but the G20) press core and I must say that was sooooo worth it! :-) PBO was masterful - not taking any s#!t

Sooooo very cheered up since Nov 4th!

I’d forgotten VP Biden is a Scorpio. That explains the 2012 debate with Paul Ryan :-) He definitely seems to have some Sag influence in his personality, though, don’t you think, MP?

Will pull up his chart tomorrow, madamesoph, but without a birth time, can guess. The inner planets are often in the sign ahead this late in a cycle.

All done in for today. Blessed to have our POTUS home, he makes for great wallpaper! <3 :bear: (not koala!) <3
Of all the hundreds of incredible photos Chipsticks and NW have treated us to this week, the one I found myself gazing at over and over (and over) is the Burmese sunset from the steps onto AF1. Maybe PBO had a hard time pulling himself away from that Light! With PBO's silhouette against the sky, and the structure of the plane, Mr Pete Souza stepped into photographic immortality! Many blessings all around, goodnight. He's Home.
