    This statement goes with his address tonight. His commitment to this belief and actions in support of it despite rabid GOP opposition and Democratic wimps is what makes him so exceptional.

    Hi everyone. Where would I see his address online? Maybe C-Span? His speech starts just when I should be fighting traffic going home, so would rather work late and watch it from work.

  5. November 20, 2025 at 7:16 pm

    Tonight’s address should prove to all the cynics that Pres Obama is not motivated by popularity or otherwise, except the moral compass to do the right thing, human applause be damned. Very Christ-like if you ask me

    In 2008 when all were on the Obama-bandwagon for empty fame calories’ sake. Pres Obama ALWAYS said he never bought into those hollow praises.

    Since get go we’ve seen him acti purely on the strength of his moral conscience whether there is an Amen chorus or not. Today is one of those times. I’m proud of him.

    To paraphrase MLK who said the true test of a mans character is not where he stands in times of comfort but when it’s hard. PBO does HARD!!!!

    Salut Monsieur.

    Sounds like there is some real progress on the Iranian talks. If this happens, this just may be one of the most consequential months of PBO’s two terms. So much for the “lame duck” label:-) While I hate the ugliness roiling around everywhere, I am going to stay positive and enjoy the spectacle of the self-destructing GOP. If they truly believe the majority of Americans support this ugly rhetoric after voting for PBO twice, they are worse than delusional.

        har-de-har. these poor journalicks are desperate to get the negative spin going on pbo’s announcement, and all they have to work with is pesky facts! game set match obama, and he hasn’t even stepped up to the podium :)

          Yes, ma’am. They are also desperate for attention, I think. I like your new coinage - journalicks indeed; licking at the heels of their paying masters.

          Hello, Susanne, how are you? Care to share some of my snow? You can have as much as you want.

    I am ready for PBO’s Immigration speech tonight;

    I have gone through the US immigration system & it is not as easy as some want us to believe;

    It was a very financially expensive & huge struggle which drains a person’s hope over the years;

    Some of us were lucky that we could understand the laws and advocate for ourselves but a significant number are not that easy;

    the exploitation you have to go through at the hands of those who know that you can’t make a legal complaint because you are undocumented;

    I know people who are exceptionally qualified academically (Masters & Doctorates in fields of critical importance to the world) but who currently work for below minimum wage because they are undocumented;

    Fear, Fear & constant Fear!!! the sight of any member of law enforcement would make one automatically look over their shoulders with a worry that the police could be coming for you too;

    I have been next to someone who was arrested by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and have seen them handcuffed on one the spot & taken away;

    I know people who have been deported after an early morning raid on their house by ICE;

    I know people who have missed weddings and funerals of close family members because they can’t go home;

    I know many people whose own lives will be changed instantly at stroke of PBO - they are waiting with a mixture of great anticipation and happiness but also disbelief.

    all were strong supporters of PBO before today, but after his announcement tonight & subsequent signature, I don’t think they will even listen to someone who

    It is a challenge living as an undocumented person in a land very far from home;

    So, please, as you think about what PBO is about to do tonight, think about the cases of real people being impacted by this policy.

    More important, a huge thanks people on TOD & millions across the US who support PBO’s actions on immigration, even knowing that these supporters have nothing to gain.

    Forward, together with PBO charting the course of progress

      Me too. Tears of joy that these good people, many who came here in fear of their life but not knowing how to apply for political asylum or scared that they would be turned down, are now able to not live in fear.

    The custody and immigration status of a young Cuban boy, Elián González (born December 6, 2025), was at the center of a heated 2000 controversy involving the governments of Cuba and the United States, González’s father, Juan Miguel González Quintana, González’s other relatives in Miami, Florida, and in Cuba, and Miami’s Cuban American community.

    González’s mother drowned in November 1999 while attempting to leave Cuba with her son and her boyfriend to get to the United States.[1][2] Th
