Always Chips. Just catching up. Sad to hear about the passing of your Uncle. Sending my prayers to you and your family. He sounded like a precious person in your life. Memories will always be with you and he will too. You will always feel his presence. (((hugs)))
Sigh! I really wish you would not encourage that snail to hang around, ChipsC. Snails creep me out - I much prefer that beautiful orangey-brown-y well-dressed turtle that I was previously. Just saying.
Yes, that’s all welll and good, VC, but does anyone have any idea where MP is?? I am so far behind, maybe should stay here safe and sound in the current stream of energy!
We will not discuss behind-ness today, MP. Honestly, I haven’t a clue what’s been going on here for most of this week, which I find highly unsettling! I’ve decided that I cannot handle work tomorrow (used my needing to install winter tires as my excuse), so I’ll drop off the vehicle and come back here to TRY and see what major info passed me by. I am even toying with the idea that i may need another day off next week to really catch up. I’ll see how the weekend goes. ;););)

This statement goes with his address tonight. His commitment to this belief and actions in support of it despite rabid GOP opposition and Democratic wimps is what makes him so exceptional.
Hi everyone. Where would I see his address online? Maybe C-Span? His speech starts just when I should be fighting traffic going home, so would rather work late and watch it from work.
Tonight’s address should prove to all the cynics that Pres Obama is not motivated by popularity or otherwise, except the moral compass to do the right thing, human applause be damned. Very Christ-like if you ask me
In 2008 when all were on the Obama-bandwagon for empty fame calories’ sake. Pres Obama ALWAYS said he never bought into those hollow praises.
Since get go we’ve seen him acti purely on the strength of his moral conscience whether there is an Amen chorus or not. Today is one of those times. I’m proud of him.
To paraphrase MLK who said the true test of a mans character is not where he stands in times of comfort but when it’s hard. PBO does HARD!!!!
Sounds like there is some real progress on the Iranian talks. If this happens, this just may be one of the most consequential months of PBO’s two terms. So much for the “lame duck” label:-) While I hate the ugliness roiling around everywhere, I am going to stay positive and enjoy the spectacle of the self-destructing GOP. If they truly believe the majority of Americans support this ugly rhetoric after voting for PBO twice, they are worse than delusional.
har-de-har. these poor journalicks are desperate to get the negative spin going on pbo’s announcement, and all they have to work with is pesky facts! game set match obama, and he hasn’t even stepped up to the podium :)
Yes, ma’am. They are also desperate for attention, I think. I like your new coinage - journalicks indeed; licking at the heels of their paying masters.
Hello, Susanne, how are you? Care to share some of my snow? You can have as much as you want.
aloha vc! i’d love some snow, but i don’t think it mails well :)
journalicks came to me in a flash of inspiration just as i typed it. yes they are boot-licks and a**licks, and they are also disgusting (ick!). feel free to use and share.
He did ya one better — PBO and Michelle had a leisurely lunch with some new friends, who happen to be from the ONLY group of non-immigrant Americans, LOL.

I just read a tweet from a PUMA berating PBO for this because it will likely ruin HRC’s chances of getting elected.
You can’t make this stuff up!! BWWAAHAHAA!!
omg- can they even hear themselves? pbo is sooo powerful, but oh yeah, he’s a lame duck; pbo is hurting hillary, but oh yeah she doesn’t need his endorsement. as if hillary was planning to run on her immigration reform chops.
Well, it looks like neither NBC, CBS or ABC will air the speech on their major network. Bri Bri at NBC says you can watch on Telemundo, NBC.com or MSNBC/.com. Fuckers.
Hi, GrandmaDD. I sent you a DM (and, since we are about to listen to the Gifted One, I don’t expect an answer tonight). …… I will tomorrow though. :grin:
I am ready for PBO’s Immigration speech tonight;
I have gone through the US immigration system & it is not as easy as some want us to believe;
It was a very financially expensive & huge struggle which drains a person’s hope over the years;
Some of us were lucky that we could understand the laws and advocate for ourselves but a significant number are not that easy;
the exploitation you have to go through at the hands of those who know that you can’t make a legal complaint because you are undocumented;
I know people who are exceptionally qualified academically (Masters & Doctorates in fields of critical importance to the world) but who currently work for below minimum wage because they are undocumented;
Fear, Fear & constant Fear!!! the sight of any member of law enforcement would make one automatically look over their shoulders with a worry that the police could be coming for you too;
I have been next to someone who was arrested by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and have seen them handcuffed on one the spot & taken away;
I know people who have been deported after an early morning raid on their house by ICE;
I know people who have missed weddings and funerals of close family members because they can’t go home;
I know many people whose own lives will be changed instantly at stroke of PBO - they are waiting with a mixture of great anticipation and happiness but also disbelief.
all were strong supporters of PBO before today, but after his announcement tonight & subsequent signature, I don’t think they will even listen to someone who
It is a challenge living as an undocumented person in a land very far from home;
So, please, as you think about what PBO is about to do tonight, think about the cases of real people being impacted by this policy.
More important, a huge thanks people on TOD & millions across the US who support PBO’s actions on immigration, even knowing that these supporters have nothing to gain.
Forward, together with PBO charting the course of progress
I get the gist and that is why i am bursting with pride in our courageous president, ecstatic for families and individuals whose lives get better tonight..
Me too. Tears of joy that these good people, many who came here in fear of their life but not knowing how to apply for political asylum or scared that they would be turned down, are now able to not live in fear.
So I just unsubscribed from the Wendy Davis email list because of the HRC email . Gave them an earful, including the fact that I thought it was in incredibly poor taste to send this out just before PBO’s address! What asses!
This was a seriously important speech, but I have to admit as PBO was walking away from the podium I remember that impersonator video that had his ‘bopping away’ (or was it jumping for joy?) after his bin Laden speech!
Don’t worry about it. I’ll find it for you another time - too lazy-ish to go searching now (PLUS don’t want to taint the real president’s immigration delivery with that spoof tonight)
Wow - I was thinking it would be a just-the-facts speech but I should have known better. He tugged at my heart strings!! I absorbed every word then muted the TV so I don’t have to listen to the talking heads.

Excuses :roll: Helloooooooo Taiping!
Well, hello there! I’m only a minute or four late-ish! :cool:
One minute or four-ish, it’s all the same VC —>

Salut Monsieur.
I echo your comments, zizi. Very-well said.
Beautifully said, ZiZI!
x 100% agree, Zizi (whom I haven’t seen face-to-face in ‘ages’). Hello, Zizi!
You’ve got that right!
my president is looking very good this evening :)
I’ll say! I bet he can’t WAIT to give this speech!
Glad to see that #ImmigrationAction is one of the top trends on Twitter. Hope it remains trending through tomorrow.

Knoller is funny. Prolly doesn’t realize yet if ‘POTUS will say’ it, most of us will wait to hear it from him.

Are you getting-up early or staying up late Susanne? ;-)
Tweeted him this: Will listen to POTUS myself. . .
bringing this over from the last thread. excellent link for references and facts in support of pbo’s speech tonight, share-ready. thanks meta!

Thank YOU!
no no, thank YOU :) it truly is an amazing page of goodies-every tod click there now!!
Thanks, Susanne And Meta! So nice to come back and not have to search too hard to find pertinent info. [Same link - different intro]
i’m hoping he’ll also have news to announce of sos kerry’s work with iran.
That would just be icing on the cake, wouldn’t it?
I think he will reserve tonight’s speech exclusively for immigration (as he should).
The news of IRAN talks will be announced around Monday after all the signatures have been cemented on the document. :)
5 guantanamo detainees on way to freedom
And right on cue, #Gruber returns to the Twitter trending list…

He’s also STILL President for 2 years so he gets to do whatever he feels is right!! Funny how that works.
;-)
Turn on Univision for some beautiful people before the POTUS speech. The red carpet event on now.
Well, it looks like neither NBC, CBS or ABC will air the speech on their major network. Bri Bri at NBC says you can watch on Telemundo, NBC.com or MSNBC/.com. Fuckers.
So CBS lied to us today?
Some local CBS affiliates are airing it live.

Just watched it from the White House. Much nicer than their links. ;-)
Couldn’t resist tweeting this, h/t to @metaquest:
i love this so much. pbo shows respect for native people, and subtly reminds us that we’re all immigrants.
Our hashtag should be #PassABill
I like it!!

of course writing with emotion has made me make a number of errors in my comment above; But I hope you get the gist of my thoughts tonight

Never noticed them.

#GOPpwned
I have a rule not to RT newsies, but I regularly break it. Not tonight. . .
So I just unsubscribed from the Wendy Davis email list because of the HRC email . Gave them an earful, including the fact that I thought it was in incredibly poor taste to send this out just before PBO’s address! What asses!
I’ve got my Letter to the Editor ready to send!
Predictable, but glad to see they’re paying attention, unlike Lt. Choi, who I would peg as a #Snowdenwald supporter:
looks like the President will be on PBS
Had to work later than expected, so I’m about to drive home. Glad I can listen on my local NPR station. Woohoo!
here he is!
Ha! and he quotes Bush.. !
This was a seriously important speech, but I have to admit as PBO was walking away from the podium I remember that impersonator video that had his ‘bopping away’ (or was it jumping for joy?) after his bin Laden speech!
;’-( I had found TOD yet.
This wasn’t a TOD post - just a spoof video about the death of bin Laden that was done on YouTube.
Well I didn’t about that either. I’m ‘Clueless’
Don’t worry about it. I’ll find it for you another time - too lazy-ish to go searching now (PLUS don’t want to taint the real president’s immigration delivery with that spoof tonight)
Thank you VC. :-)

Nodding, but I knew he’d out of the park. . .
Standing Ovation at My house, Mr. President. He is remarkable… and I am so grateful for him.
;-) Looking Up!
