Today is a really big day for America.
Just as March 10, 2025 was.

Corporate Vultures will fight the Immigration EO as hard and as long as they fought and are fighting the ACA.
And yes, Obamacare was done with Congress, EO not with Congress.

Here is what is the same: Millions of Americans lives will be improved tremendously by what PBO does today, just as the ACA has helped millions of families and individuals.

The GOP/media/ Vultures/DINOs (looking at you Claire mcCaskill) are put in the position of having to answer “Are you the party that wants to ruin peoples lives???????????”

The article gives a lot of insight about how things get done in politics. Something to keep in mind when we think it is a simple process. And also about how important the intention of the politician is. He or she may have to work the system, but where is their heart and mind focused?

….A Boston Globe review of thousands of lobbying records and interviews with two dozen former aides reveals an informal network that is almost unrivaled in the nation’s capital, both in size and quiet clout. Some among them, who have gathered regularly over a good meal to kibitz, recall, and strategize, call themselves the T-birds — T for Teddy.

It is a remarkable flock. Kennedy molded some 1,100 staffers over the course of nearly five decades, a list that includes Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer, superlawyers such as Kenneth R. Feinberg and Gregory B. Craig, and US Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez….

Wanna bet that the president and his team verified this a long time ago ha ha ?

That being said… isn’t is almost tragic that republicans in Congress have gone so far the deep end… the president has to step in and use emergency powers, in order to implement plain common sense policies ??

Looking at the big picture… I’m concerned. After watching politics closely in the last few years, it is clear to me that the republican party is too sick now for self-correction. White resentment in combination with plutocratic influence is leading to some pretty ugly stuff.

President Obama can’t contain the storm all by himself.

It will take millions of people in the street to finally stop the extremists and the plutocrats.

But to make millions of people go into the street, you need a movement with a leader. I wish we could clone President Obama. One in the Oval Office, one in the streets. Barack Obama thought he could lead activism from the White House, but the nature of the job, and its time-consuming obligations, made it impossible. On that aspect, the president was more idealistic than realist I think.

After his presidency, he will be able to go back to activism. And make no mistake, powerful interests are very well aware of his potential as a moral and populist leader. The effort to destroy his legacy and make him irrelevant isn’t only aimed at weakening his presidency.

Usually agree with you, LP2008 — especially appreciate your drilling down to why MSM personally resent the-best-writer-in-the-room (President Obama) so much.

However, seems too early to despair only 2 weeks after the horrendous Nov 2014 election.

My hunch is that #POTUSunplugged has a lot of surprises left in store for GOP/MSM/Kochs.

PBO is sincerely more progressive than any of his liberal critics (i.e., emoPutins) give him credit for.

But he’s the smartest politician since Chinese philosophers from many moons ago, and knew he could fulfill his goals only by being elected President, which required compromise and conciliation.

I have a feeling that the things that emoPutins have whined about (e.g., fraudster fatcats avoiding jailtime, etc.) will be left with no complaints by 2017. PBO didn’t nominate Loretta Lynch, perhaps the fiercest US prosecutor (but not a Republican, so no coverage by MSM like Patrick Fitzgerald), and expect her to sit in her office for two years.

Just called all 3 networks about not carrying POTUS tonight. CBS says they reconsidered and will air it, ABC says they are getting a lot of calls and could not answer as to “why”, but told me to have a “magical day” (Disney owned I guess, wtf) and left a message on the NBC comment line. I was thrilled that they are getting some major pushback for we the people. Call if you can to keep on the heat! Here are the phone numbers:

    NBC. 212-664-4444
    ABC. 212-456-2700
CBS. 212-975-4321 (call anyway for pushback volume)

Called ABC and was told that they were doing a piece on the Nightly News. I pushed and said that was not Carrying the president LIVE. I was put on hold for a minute and later, the twit came back and said….well, ABC would have it on Podcast, Live Stream digital…..or something…..when I brought GW Bush’s Immigration speech in 2006 and Stem Cell……she abruptly said something and quickly said, that’s what we are doing and hung up the phone.
CBS said Yes, We are airing it……I said: So you have changed your minds, she said: YES. I said: USA! USA! USA! USA!……she smiled….not understanding my sarcasm……as she bid me goodbye.
NBC, I called them at 8AM CT and told off……my beef was with TRMS. She made excuses……IMO for the decision made by NBC, ABC, CBS. She never mention Fox on that piece.

Operation misinformation on immigration laws and on President’s EO in full swing.

      It’s ACA all over again.

The GOP propaganda machine, helped by a feckless, lazy, shallow, corrupt media, are transforming the national conversation on immigration into a circus. Watch the poll numbers on the necessity of immigration reform go down, as lies and disinfo spread.

My only hope is that many groups ( religious, business, etc) are on board for immigration reform. Hence the voices of reason are maybe more prominent than they were for health reform. The President is not alone in the battle.

What I see though is that the GOP is completely poisoning the well for a legislative solution, and this could last many years. We’ll possibly see some kind of “working permit” legislation. But a road to citizenship ? Not as long as the republicans have some power to prevent it.

This is not about ideology. It is tribal. Pure and simple. And things could get a lot worse before they get better.

    Go Harry Reid.

When Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) was in talks with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) to create a new leadership position for her, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the number three Democrat in the chamber and head of the Democratic Policy and Communications Center, suggested that Reid also bring in Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) to balance out Warren’s liberal politics, according to Politico.

Warner, of course, is considered one of the more moderate Democrats in the Senate caucus.

Schumer also suggested possibly narrowing the scope of the new post Warren was going to get, according to Politico. Warren resisted both suggestions.

In the end though, Reid just tapped Warren to serve as a Strategic Policy Advisor to the DPCC. The newly created post, announced a week ago, includes helping to shape policy for Senate Democrats and acting as a liberal liaison for the party.

Same song different station. We the same crap from so-called gay community leaders when POTUS didn’t wave a magic wand and make everything all better fast enough for them. Then you got your CornyWests & Tavis Smalleys of the world hatin’ cuz POTUS ain’t shoutin’ Black Power and wearing a dashiki. Haters gonna hate (and try to elevate themselves in the process). They come in all shapes, sizes and flavors. Ain’t nothin’ changed… Carry on.

The Passing of the Voting Rights and the Civil Rights drove Racists, Bigots and Haters of Immigrants to the GOP, following the Nixon Southern Strategy…….Drove many to the GOPers.

Since Nov 4th, 2008……with the election of Sen Barack Obama, the 1st Black President, these same forces from the 1960s………please note….historically, the Media was NOT for desegregation…….those who doubt should GOOGLE and read the insane questions and hostility bestowed at MLK, Malcolm X, etc…….these same forces are Going Bonkers and are Not accepting the election and re-election of a Black president. Shameful. SCOTUS piped in on Jan 21st 200 with Citizen United and in 2012, Roberts single handily changed ACA law and in 2013, the 5 Robed SCOTUS destroyed the Voting Rights Law.

Thank goodness, they are a dying bunch. Their years are numbered.
