      Hiya Vicki.

“The St. Louis Dispatch eliminated its special Ferguson section.”

I pray they’ll have to start it up again:

    —————————-

You’ll hear all manner of justification for this outcome. You’ll hear that the evidence was inconsistent. You’ll hear that Michael Brown was a thug who looked like a demon. But he was an 18 year old boy who was minding his own business one minute and was left dead in the street the next. He was left there in a pool of blood for hours. There was no incident report. The victim was smeared. Grand jury testimony was selectively leaked.
    .
    .
Americans can debate this all they want, but unless they know firsthand how this system feels to those who have to live their lives in terror, their opinions aren’t worth much.

yes it is depressing. recently in Toronto, my father elderly father in-law was followed by two cops, (one black and other white), in a cruiser while walking through a field while wearing his hood up. they eventually stopped him and asked where he was going and such. he did not take kindly to that and asked why had they stopped him, they said Oh to remind folks to be safe …. he then gave them a piece of his mind and said now he knows exactly what black youths are facing; and asked them what should he say to his grand kids that it is not safe to be out, or that they could be stopped. While at the same time people of other races cut through the same field and are never followed or stopped. They drove away and waited till he emerged on the other side of the field and waved at him. I guess they were ashamed but who knows…

The body of an unidentified black man was found in Ferguson, Missouri on Tuesday morning.

The man, who appeared to have been in his 20’s, was located inside a car parked in a driveway near the Canfield Green Apartments, Fox 2 Now reports.

Authorities said the man had been shot and the incident was being investigated as a homicide, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The driver’s side window of the car had been shot out.

“This incident is currently being classified as a suspicious death and will remain so until evidence allows a different classification,” St. Louis County Police Officer Rick Eckhard told the Post-Dispatch.

While police were investigating the scene, a nearby woman could be heard crying and saying, “They killed my baby.”

The apartment complex is near the site where 18-year-old Michael Brown was fatally shot by Officer Darren Wilson in August. The discovery of the body Tuesday morning comes amid reports of violence and unrest following Monday night’s announcement that a grand jury would not indict Wilson.

    Excellent Tweets Chips.
The tweet about under what circumstance would a parent agree or be okay for a child killed…..not to want a GJ Indictment or a trail is the ONLY issue here.
The Prosecutor in Ferguson got justice when his father was killed. The questions asked by the Journos last night, were pathetic. They accepted the diatribe from the Prosecutor and there was Never any push back on his BS.
Congrats Vicki on your Au :star:

We all see what is being done to Our President.
We see who is doing it.
What i don’t see is any way to stop it.

So I am going to focus on what I think is President Obama’s goal. And cheer whenever he advances his agenda. Which is often and significant. If you don’t think so ask the immigrant families who no longer fear separation.
or the detainees at Guantanamo who have renewed hopes of release. Or the millions participating in Obamacare.
Or anyone who needs to breathe air to survive.

President Obama is a permanent Winner. That is what the RW can’t stand.

I don’t know how he keeps going. I’m sure there is so much he would like to express but cannot in his position. It reminds me of Jackie Robinson or Hank Aaron who day to day received darts of hate and had to keep going out on the field and producing and not expressing their frustration. I worry for The President’s health because of this. I’m off to send another email of support to him. Many thanks for this community.

Good Morning TOD family, Chips and Nerdy,
I had my Thanksgiving this past weekend, Therefor had 9 guest from Wednesday through Sunday. They were all gone by Sunday evening.I woke at 3AM Monday morning very sick and having difficulty breathing. Seems Ive gotten and upper respiratory infection from one of the visiting children I suppose since one of them was ill. Since I have Asthma, something like this really gets to me. I haven’t been able to be on twitter or the PC. I tried a few time but just no time and now too sick. I have missed as lot of the news, but last night was able to see the verdict on the Michael Brown murder. A young man, loved by his parents with his while life before him. Its really disgusting how white folks can justify the wrongs they do to people of color. There is no excuse for shooting to death a 17 year old unarmed teen. Like our wonderful President said things are some better than 20-30 years ago, but still racism is rampant only now they just try to find a more clever way to hide the truth of the evil things they do. Since I was unable to sleep last night I stayed up watching the riots in Ferguson all night. I hated to see all the property damage but am really glad no one was killed.
I want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving with your respective families. I know we will all remember Michael Brown Parents and the heartbreak they are going through.

      ((( terri )))

So sorry that the #Ferguson non-indictment is what awaited you once you felt well enough to go online.

I empathize with you — awhile ago I had a lingering cold that turned into viral (=antibiotics useless) bronchitis with asthma (having never had either condition before). I ended up in the hospital for 3 days, which was no fun at all.

But I recovered and haven’t experienced a relapse, knock on wood.

Rest and doctor’s attention is most important, and you’ll be up and about in no time!

Listened to the press conference, and Rev. Al was by far the best in laying out the issues. The Brown family really needs new lawyers, or at least folks that are better at press conferences. But I don’t have much faith that the federal government will be able to bring the justice that everyone is crying for in this circumstance. The federal criteria is much different than the state criteria, and the indisputable scuffle in the police car is going to make it very difficult for the feds on any charges against Darren Wilson. They may have a much better shot at the Ferguson police department overall but that will not put Darren Wilson in prison. In all likelihood, he will be free to continue his life, most likely on Fox, while Mike Brown will never get any older.

      November 25, 2025 at 2:22 pm

^^^THIS^^^ is exactly my feeling as well Foxfire. The threshold for federal charges is way higher than people may understand. Like you said with the scuffle at the police car Wilson can always say that he felt threatened and therefore was justified in killing this young man. Because of that scuffle and the gun residue on MB’s hands it’s going to be very difficult to prove that his civil rights were violated :(

      I am completely distraught today.

        November 25, 2025 at 2:48 pm

I am so sorry Donna. You’ve been such a force for good and change. I too feel despair but as a white woman cannot begin to comprehend what our black friends live with day in and day out. Be kind to yourself today, sending hugs your way, but then please get back up and continue with the fight. As Reverend Al said, our hearts may be broken today but our backs are not.

“he will be free to continue his life”

That is not going to be the case. Unless he’s a hard-core sociopath - in which case he will probably commit a few more murders/crimes and wind up behind bars and become a societal pariah, Darren Wilson will never be a free man. He deserves to live the remainder of his life with this murder and egregious miscarriage of justice hunting every waking aspect of his psyche - and that it will. It will destroy him from within. It is not going to be business as usual from Wilson - as many people seem to think. And no amount of support from “FOX News” the MSM, or all the KKKlansmen out there will change that immutable truth.

    DeFur:
Last night, I found myself incessantly screaming at the TV as my favorite NFL team, the New Orleans Saints (Who Dat!) played yet another lack luster game. At 9 p.m. I flipped over to CNN to watch as they announced there would not be an indictment in the Michael Brown case.
As events unfolded, I found myself flooded with a wide array of emotions. I thought about his family. I thought about the members of the grand jury. I thought about all the people gathered outside. I thought about the countless moms and dads who would be having conversations with their children. I thought about the pastors who would be dealing with this subject this weekend just as the world begins celebrating Christmas.
I can’t get one particular split-screen image out of my mind. On one side we saw the inside of the courtroom where the news was being delivered. On the other side of the screen was a crowd of people primed with disappointment, disbelief and anger. There they were, gathered under a lit sign that simply read, “Seasons Greetings”.
I found that image to be both surreal and heartbreaking. It reflected the brokenness of the world in which we live. As I watched, I found myself desperately wanting to do something. And then I came to this realization – Knoxville is 495 miles away from Ferguson, Missouri. It would seem there’s ultimately nothing any of us can do … or is there?
Here are a few practical things we can all do in response:
    1. Pray
I know, that’s exactly what you would expect a preacher to say! It’s true, though. Way too often, we treat prayer like it’s a last resort. How many times have you heard someone say, “Well, we’ve done all we know to do… (wait for it) all we can do now is pray.”
For those of us who follow Jesus, prayer is never intended to be a last resort. In fact, it’s the greatest weapon at our disposal! Philippians 4 says:
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
    2. Maintain Perspective
One of the most difficult things for any of us to do is see the world through a Kingdom perspective. It’s easy to allow a circumstance or a situation to block our view. This is when cynicism and negativity begin to take hold. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world…”What world? THE world. All of it. The very best and the absolute worst. It’s all His. While there will be moments where many of us are left speechless, God is still in control.
    3. Continue to Love People
Love is the highest standard. Paul defines what that looks like in 1 Corinthians 13. At the end of his description, Paul says this:
“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
As we strive to become the people God needs us to be, it will be our ability to love that will bring about change.
    4. Find a Way to Give Yourself Away
God has given us a powerful responsibility. Jesus made the directive very clear. In Matthew 28, Jesus says:
“I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.”
So, one concrete way each of us can combat the darkness of the world is by choosing to be light. The only thing that can combat darkness is… light. We have a fundamental belief that, “Saved people serve people. And served people get saved.”
My prayer is that, as a church, we will stay radically committed to doing whatever we can, wherever we can, as often as we can, to share Jesus. And if we are fortunate enough, we’ll have the opportunity to watch God change the world in our lifetimes!
    Grace and Peace

Sorry this is so long but don’t know any other way to post it. Nevertheless, it is excellent……….from our lead pastor.

Bear with me on this, please.

” [from their website]] The National Bar Association was founded in 1925 and is the nation’s oldest and largest national network of predominantly African-American attorneys and judges.” Their website says they represent the interests of approximately 60K. They released the statement shown in the tweet at the top of the post.

The American Bar Association (with nearly 400K members), which made a statement on the President’s executive order on immigration on Nov. 21, well … maybe you’ll have better luck finding a current statement on the grand jury decision. I did find this lofty piece on their website from October, written by James D. Macri, an “attorney awaiting admission,” and possibly in the ABA’s “judicial intern opportunity program,” from the looks of it:

    The Legal Fallout from Ferguson

    http://www.americanbar.org/groups/litigation/initiatives/good_works/judicial_intern_opportunity_program/articles_2014/100814-legal-fallout-from-ferguson.html

I realize some on twitter and elsewhere are annoyed that no one is giving proper weight to the National Bar Association statement. I get that, and I give it plenty of weight and respect. (I first learned the difference in the two organizations when we started to hear about Benjamin Crump and his law firm during the George Zimmerman fiasco.) But I’m annoyed that the ABA’s statement is slow in coming, which I think says a lot about that organization at such an important time. This is a civil rights issue affecting our entire country, and, most especially, African Americans.

Incompetent John Boehner Appoints Republican To A Committee That Doesn’t Exist

    Yahoo News reported,

The problem, however, is that by doing so, Boehner named a chairman to a panel that does not yet exist. Because the Benghazi committee is select and not permanent, the House will have to vote again to re-create it when Congress returns for a new session in January.
Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Monday evening announced that he is reappointing Republican Trey Gowdy of South Carolina to head the Select Committee on Benghazi next Congress.

The problem, however, is that by doing so, Boehner named a chairman to a panel that does not yet exist. Because the Benghazi committee is select and not permanent, the House will have to vote again to re-create it when Congress returns for a new session in January.
