Thanks Nerdy, for your relentless, brilliant coverage today. You brought us through so many emotional highs and lows that I feel we were inside events, not just reading or watching them. At the end of the day, all I can say is, “whew!” By the way, the parents of Mike Brown have been a class act since day one. Talking Points Memo @TPM
Michael Carvin, the attorney arguing against Obamacare, says the statute was “written by white women and minorities”
The ACA is based on the Heritage Foundation’s plan……a bunch of white men I assume.
I think you’d be assuming correctly.
I was just reading reports that said he spent time interrupting the justices - but only the women! Definitely not a person I would want on my team.
Nor mine!
Just finished watching the CBS Evening News. They somehow lost the report on the Keystone Pipeline vote - there was no mention of the spanking the GOP got today :D
This kind of behaviour is pathetic, insulting, and a clear indication of how deviously small-minded Repugs are!
//……………………………
After several hours of deliberations at Monday’s committee meeting, however, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Fort asked McKoon if he could pause work for a moment to use the bathroom. McKoon obliged, but while the Democrat hurried to the lavatory, the rest of the committee — which consisted entirely of Republicans once Fort left the room — quickly pulled the “religious liberty” bill off the table and began voting. A staffer alerted other Democrats who rushed to the scene, but the committee had already passed the bill by the time lawmakers arrived.
“[McKoon] knew I was going to come back,” Fort told the Constitution. “It seems to me the right thing would have been to delay the vote until all the members who had appeared at the committee were in the room.”
The committee’s cloak and dagger shenanigans are but the latest act in an ongoing drama surrounding the “religious liberty” bill ……….//

And LOD is spending an hour on Hillary’s emails, not Ferguson.
If Lawrence picks a topic, we’re all supposed to fall in line, dontcha know. I was over him following his last “big topic.”
As are most blogs I read - and they are the left leaning ones. White man privilege.
Does anyone know when SCOTUS will rule on King vs. Burwell Obamacare case?
June-ish
Thanks LL!
Probably the week or day in June. They have to agonize over it especially if Roberts doesn’t go along with Scalia again.
Sad.
May she rest in peace.
What the hell is this about?
Granholm tried to cape for Hillary and LOD was not having it.
Haven’t watched LOD since he tried to tell PBO what’s up, but I am sorry to have missed this.
Spandan over at The Peoples View has an article re the SCOTUS ruling on ACA. His graph shows that of the 7.5 million people who stand to lose their health insurance if the Court rules against ACA, 61% of those are whites in the south. After all, Red States are the states who refused to enact the exchanges. Spandan, with a little levity, said that Republicans are probably sitting in a backroom somewhere praying that the Court doesn’t rule against the ACA. What in the world would the Republicans do to insure all those people.
The boomerang effect. That’s what they get for trying to deny / thwart / destroy PBO at every turn.
In their sixth year of his Presidency. It’s that old Einstein definition of insanity, rearing its ugly head at them, again (as PBO has said, himself, I believe):
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” — Albert Einstein
These are the same idiots that shut down the government and told Boner they did not think it would actually happen. They will go over the edge and wonder who let this happen? That is why they are screaming that PBO better come up with a “Plan B”. I say F’em.
Yes, I think at this point, it’s safe to say we’d all pretty much agree - F’em.
Sticking my head in for a quick peAk to see who’s still in the village. Also, too …
Figured I’d try…

From Wikipedia:
“Akim Camara (born 26 September 2025 (in Berlin) is a violinist child prodigy who began playing at the age of two.
In May 2003, at only two years of age, Akim was given violin lessons by instructor Birgit Thiele at the Marzahn-Hellersdorf School of Music. Akim was at this point still in diapers and speaking in unintelligible toddler gibberish yet he was remarkably able to remember music heard and the names of all orchestral instruments. Moved by his remarkable memory and natural “ear for music” Akim’s teacher began instructing the toddler twice a week in 45 minute sessions. Akim participated enthusiastically and, due in part to his remarkable memory, the toddler was learning unbelievably fast. After six months of this fairly light training regimen Akim had his debut performance in December 2003 at the age of three in a Christmas concert “Schneeflöckchen, Weissröckchen” put on by the Marzahn-Hellersdorf School of Music.
Birgit Thiele and the music school principal, Gudrun Mueller, messaged Andre Rieu, the celebrity Dutch violinist, regarding Akim’s prodigious talent through his website. Rieu responded swiftly. He sent a camera crew to Berlin to film Akim on the violin. What he saw astounded him. He hastily took action and invited the parents and grandmother of the boy to his studio in Kerkrade, Netherlands along with Akim. Three year old Akim’s performance at the studio was apparently so impressive that it left all of the orchestra members in astonishment and disbelief.
Within two weeks, in July 2004, Akim was performing with Rieu in concert at Kerkrade’s Parkstad Limburg Stadion filled to near max capacity with an audience of 18,000 people on a toddler-size violin and wearing a tiny custom-made concert tuxedo and dress shoes. After amusing the crowd with a “water trick” toddler Akim then performed Ferdinand Kuchler’s violin concertino in G, opus 11 followed by a brief encore performance. Akim exited stage right after two massive standing ovations and roaring cheers…”
