First Lady Obama also does a great job in exposing the culture and historical landmarks of the countries she visits. Her descriptions are so vivid and convincing that it triggers one’s desire to view them up close.
On my way to church, but want to say that the bar owner is trying to deflect responsibility because if had given the student enough time , he would have heard the explanation about the two different zip codes. He knew those officers were hanging nearby.
Not an agony of defeat.

Georgia State coach Ron Hunter said his team couldn’t possibly be sad after his team’s NCAA Tournament loss to Xavier considering what the team’s tourney appearance meant for their school. But as soon as he began talking about his son, the waterworks turned on.
McCain?…the one that thought that SP was qualified for ANYTHING??? He can STFU and sit down. In all his “wisdom” he also had this to say today. He can’t flipping retire soon enough.
This is why jonnyboymcpain isn’t president. Imagine what a world if people who don’t know what they are talking about would just stfu. Pointing at you, #mcpalinpainintheass.
His mother is an American citizen therefore according to the 14th Amendment, he is also considered a native-born citizen and therefore can run for President. It makes all the birther for President Obama nonsense because no one disputed her birthplace at all.
Truthfully, GxG, I think it would be a waste of her valuable time. Cruz, and others like him have their talking points, and that’s all they have. No sense, IMO, giving them a platform because once you do, you’re conceding some validity to their arguments. You’re saying you think they have something to say worthy of our listening ears - and they don’t!
He’s disgusting, DF, truly one of the most repellent creatures I have ever known who had the gall to run for public office. The sad thing is he considers himself handsome, charismatic and persuasive. If he were any of these things, he would be dangerous. But he’s a loathsome toad who bleats like a donkey and has the ego of a bloated elephant.

That disgrace Ted Cruz is on a late night talk show. When POTUS goes on these shows folks like the disgusting Ted Cruz criticize POTUS for being on those shows.
I have no idea how much Starbucks pays their employees, but can you imagine having a job where you have to engage customers in conversations about race? You work two jobs just to keep a roof over your head and some billionaire with nothing to do sends down a fucking edict from on high forcing you to talk about something that he or she doesn’t have to worry about, let alone talk about.
It didn’t work out so well, Don, for reasons such as the crucial one that you highlight.
However, it has evidently catalyzed reflection within Starbucks management and they clearly have no intention in stopping the push to broaden the conversation and expand their efforts to effect change.
==============================
This is the memo CEO Schultz released a bit earlier today:
Dear partners,
I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to every one of you for your fearless and energetic support of the Race Together initiative. Our objective from the very start of this effort — dating back to our first open forum in Seattle last December — was to stimulate conversation, empathy and compassion toward one another, and then to broaden that dialogue beyond just our Starbucks family to the greater American public by using our scale for good.
After a historic Annual Shareholders Meeting that focused on diversity and inequality, and an initial push for much-needed national discussion around these difficult topics, it is time for us to take stock of where we are, what we have learned from our efforts so far, and what is next.
This phase of the effort — writing “Race Together” (or placing stickers) on cups, which was always just the catalyst for a much broader and longer term conversation — will be completed as originally planned today, March 22.
But this initiative is far from over. We have a number of planned Race Together activities in the weeks and months to come: more partner open forums, three more special sections co-produced with USA TODAY over the course of the next year, more open dialogue with police and community leaders in cities across our country, a continued focus on jobs and education for our nation’s young people plus our commitment to hire 10,000 opportunity youth over the next three years, expanding our store footprint in urban communities across the country, and new partnerships to foster dialogue and empathy and help bridge the racial and ethnic divides within our society that have existed for so many years.
While there has been criticism of the initiative — and I know this hasn’t been easy for any of you — let me assure you that we didn’t expect universal praise. The heart of Race Together has always been about humanity: the promise of the American Dream should be available to every person in this country, not just a select few. We leaned in because we believed that starting this dialogue is what matters most. We are learning a lot. And will always aim high in our efforts to make a difference on the issues that matter most.
I want to thank those of you who took time this week to share what you were seeing, hearing, feeling and thinking as we rolled out Race Together across the country. An issue as tough as racial and ethnic inequality requires risk-taking and tough-minded action. And let me reassure you that our conviction and commitment to the notion of equality and opportunity for all has never been stronger.
Take care of yourselves and each other. I am proud to be your partner.
Perhaps, in the end, Howard Schultz and Starbucks will emerge as the white folk who decided that #TruthAndReconciliation is OUR responsibility, not that of Native Americans, descendents of African slaves and POC, in general.
Doubt if he’ll ever read it, but it’s a simple a message as I know how to deliver …
White, not Black, Americans own Racism
White @Starbucks Executives are just the folk to lead #TruthAndReconciliation
cc @VP @vj44 @FLOTUS
This is a standard corporate letter to his partners (who are no doubt majority white) to console them and himself for this glaring misstep. No where does he state that going forward his campaign will include the people he needs the most to help him diagram this campaign.
Once again, someone trying to force what they think is the healing balm instead of going to the person who’s hurting.
smh - Personally, I think this is a very flip response. It’s so much easier to flip off certain attempts to address a situation (or to start a dialogue) than to try and channel them towards something meaningful.

Just advance to the 2 hour 15 min segment of the video if you don’t want to listen to the other speakers - though, I assure you, it’s worth the time to listen to the entire program.
We have Direct TV services.
Just noticed that we now have BBCWHD now……on 346 channel. BBCA is on 264.
I hope that it is a better Network than CNN.
We had EuroNews on Charter years ago.
I think it’s amazing to wrap your mind around the idea that there may be millions and millions of inhabitable planets in the vast universe. Maybe there are places that got it right-no war, no need to hurt and destroy others, no need to think yourself better than someone else. I find the thought really beautiful and inspiring, although there could be a lot worse places than we even imagine.
Maybe I’m just a pollyanna, but I figure that any species which has survived the pratfalls leading to interstellar travel has evolved beyond the need for conquest/domination.
So that bitter old senile Senator John McCain tells President Obama to get over his temper tantrum and focus on ISIS. He has some darn nerve because I have been waiting for him to grow up and get over his temper tantrum since he lost to Senator Obama in 2008. John McCain criticizing our President is about as relevant to PBO as a fly buzzing in his office. And we all how good Barack Obama is a swatting the little annoyances.
Just read McCain’s comments - that PBO continues to be polite to such a man is a credit to the values he received from those who raised him. That the media allows the old f..t to make such statements without comeback is to the discredit of whoever raised the members of same.
“Ahead of a looming March 31 deadline to formulate a framework deal with Iran, a senior French diplomat said Sunday that Israel’s stance on the issue had become increasingly unworkable.
The unnamed French official criticized Israel’s position on the Iranian nuclear program as “unrealistic,” and said that Netanyahu went “too far” in a polarizing March 3 address to a joint session of the US Congress on the topic.
“Israel has marginalized itself. In November 2013, we were working with them and they played the game. They didn’t take unrealistic positions,” the diplomat told Reuters. “But here they have gone too far. We told them to play their part so they could influence a final accord, but they have taken unrealistic positions.””

Georgia State was a joy to watch. I was pulling for them.
Nena, I would love to know when was the last time that John McCain said something that wasn’t either stupid of hateful.
In_Deed.
The guy is a bitter wicked cruel man.
Sign of senility - being angry all the time - McCain is well past it.

How about we jail John McCain for being one of the #47Traitors?
hahahahahahahahaha
The Canadians are smart. When he and his family left town, they closed the gates.
I’m certain!! :)
I don’t blame Canada either. Ted Cruz is a disgrace.
THEODORE CRAZY CRUZ IS INDEED SLIME SUBLIME…………….HIS PROFILE LOOKS BETTER ON THE BOTTOM OF SHOE…DIRT LEVEL WHERE HIS MIND IS LOCATED!
Wait! How can Cruz run to be President if he was born in Canada? Thought he had to be born in the US?
His mother is an American citizen therefore according to the 14th Amendment, he is also considered a native-born citizen and therefore can run for President. It makes all the birther for President Obama nonsense because no one disputed her birthplace at all.
I had my fingers cross as FLOTUS walked up those plane steps.
Me too.
Here you go - the weekly rundown of Sec. Jewell’s department.
I would love for Sec Jewel to debate Ted Cruz on Climate Change. She would blow him out the water!
Thanks vc for posting the latest summary :-)

I just want her to mop the floor with him in front of a national television audience. I’m easy to entertain :-)
VC, Happy Birthday!
Thank you, TerriD! It has indeed been a happy day.
I’m so glad that you are having a great day.
