Congratulations 99ts! And commiserations to all our TODers from India - well, Amk.
MoooOOOooorning!

GM Chips and TOD.
Woops - sorry COS missed your post - I’ll have t be content with 2nd
:)
Moooooooooorning COS!!!!
Oz won!!
1st as well - what more could a PBO supporter want :) :) Morning Ms Chips and TOD
Hats off to ya, 99ts - has Amk offered you warm, non-grudgy congratulations yet?
He’s not been seen since the end of the 1st innings. India started well 0/60 - I thought he would be back.
“He’s not been seen since the end of the 1st innings.”
I suspect…..
Well - I was using some of that to celebrate :)
Well earned! Crikey, that was a heckuva win, by 95 runs?!
When I got home I thought they were going to lose with India 0/60 - good fielding by Oz team - brilliant run out later in the game
Not enough. #cheapskate.
You ain’t right Ms. Chips. ROFLOL =:) =:) =:)
No, I was there later whining.
Congrats, you beat the crap out of us, #LOSERS.
Finals will be a thrillah and I will be rooting for newzies.
Am I not your TOD friend - there I was supporting India and saying nice things about your team while you were criticizing them. First time I have seen the stumps lighting up like fireworks - shows how they don’t show cricket on our TV any more.
It is your fault you beat us black & blue. So ….
Now if we get logical about this - scientific even - you should want Australia to win - this would mean you were beaten by the best. If NZ win - well the team that defeated India were only 2nd best.
logic, schmogic. #revenge. even if we outsourced it to newzies. :)
mmmm - guess we won’t be wanting any help from the computer/internet/banking support centres based in India over the next few days!
:)
“warm, non-grudgy”
have always been that way.
Good Morning friends
Moooooorning Libra!
Flippin’ hell, the co-pilot deliberately crashed the plane in France, what on earth was that about?
That is a story from a french “prosecutor”?? I find it seriously weird. Do they know for sure it was the pilot outside the cockpit?
Very interesting!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/03/26/st-louis-county-municipal-courts_n_6896550.html
A long article about Missouri corruption and how the police have terrorized the states citizens. Incredibly disturbing and is leaving me thinking that the US has a lot to answer for to allow these types of things to occur.
Jeff, this is horrifying. If we heard this kind of treatment of citizens was happening in another country, we would justifiably condemn it. That it’s happening in one of our states is beyond appalling. I don’t know what power the Justice Department can wield in correcting these gross injustices, but I hope it is big and effective. It literally makes me sick to think of what the people of St. Louis county have had to endure. I wish this would become nationally known and universally condemned.
I love this photo. So much love and support between our first couple.
Good Morning.
The Supreme Court struck down Alabama’s Redistricting plan yesterday ,
The co-pilot of the Germanwings plane that crashed into the French Alps on Tuesday appeared to want to “destroy the plane”, French officials said.
Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin, citing information from the “black box” voice recorder, said the co-pilot was alone in the cockpit.
He intentionally started a descent while the pilot was locked out.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-32063587
what an horror.
Where is this story coming from amk - do you know if Brice Robin has anything to do with analysing the cause of the crash? I find it very difficult to believe.
apparently from the cockpit voice recorder, as per the french prosecutor, who said on live teevee. have no idea who brice robin is.
As I read it - he heard the guy breathing & not talking - could have been unconscious?
they claim the cockpit door was locked from inside. whatever happened, it is an eye opener especially when flying low cost carriers. Apparently the co-pilot was news and who knows what kinda vetting these bare-bones operation airlines did.
ok, brice robin is the french prosecutor.
Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family.
Congratulations to Australia & 99ts and good run by India & amk.
Is. It. Finally. Over???!!!
Not over GGail - you still have time to learn. Final between Australia and NZ.
Cricket is somewhat similar to baseball - except in this series there is only 1 innings per team & rather than get 3 out - the team fielding have to get all the batters out (well 10 out of 11. Have to be 2 batters at a time).
So there you have it. Final is on Sat 29 March - probably while everyone in the US is asleep :)
Congrats 99ts and thank you for the lesson that I could understand 😊
Good luck in the Final!
In my youth we used to hear all types of sport on the radio (being my father controlled the station changer) - the only sport I cannot understand is American football. I have tried - it is beyond me.
No, it ain’t over.
No, not a good run by India. #LOSERS.
G’morning Chips, TOD, even amk! Congrats COS on #1, and Happy Thursday everyone :)
Good Morning, Everyone :)
I love the way cartoonists are depicting Cruz in all their toons. They have an uncanny way of seeing the ugliness and depicting- it warts and all.
Also how he wears his suits - they never look to fit properly (being as the GOP likes to discuss women’s clothes - I return the favor).
99ts, I totally agree on his sloppy appearance. Of course, he doesn’t have the build that PBO does, so suits aren’t going to look as good on him, but they could at least fit properly. He looks as if he hangs his clothes out in the rain and then puts them on damp so they bag all over.
:) An apt description. A suit doesn’t have to be super expensive to fit. Campaigning for President is not easy - and if you start off looking a mess - the end won’t be pretty.
DITTO HERE JACKIE…CRUZ HAS AN EVIL FACE…THE CARTOONISTS HAVE ALOT OF MATERIAL TO WORK WITH!…FAKE AND PHONY CHRISTIAN…GREASY…SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZY….MAKES SLIME LOOK LIKE SWEET JAM!
Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Thursday morning. Congrats COS, on being first this morning.
To all, I hope you have an absolute spectacular day today. <3 <3 <3
Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America. ✩ ✩ ✩
RanMan, the more uglies who step forward to run for president, the more fervently I thank God for our president. I think the best strategy for Democratic candidates is to wait for the whole House of Horrors troupe to parade before the public and then step forward with sanity so that the American people can breathe a huge sigh relief.
Good morning Jackie, I co-sign your every word. It says a lot about our electorate when these uglies and clowns can garnish 27-33% of the vote.
GM all from Chicagoland. Tomorrow it will be the coldest March 27th in 86 years. What a joy.
Cruz continues to lie his head off, but he is a Republican so that is to be expected.
This upcoming GOP primary season should be a delight to watch.
Meanwhile, our President just keeps rolling along getting things done while the GOP tries and fails to stop him.
In a little less than 22 months he will no longer be the President, but he will cast a long shadow and will, I have no doubt, continue to be a major influence in the world.
I am so sick of this cold!
Wish we could trade our heat for your snow (next winter, please transport excess snow to our beloved Sierra Nevada mountains — Cali humanity depends on it, and I am certain the native fauna are suffering downstream from the ongoing loss of rivers and creeks. :(
Every.single.month this winter (and early Spring) has brought some daytime temps to the 90s (heard it was 91F yesterday here, forecast for today is the same) and nighttime lows to the 60s. :(
GOOD MORNING TOD FAMILY…LISTENING TO THE AIRLINE TRAGEDY…CERTAINLY NO SURPRISE AND THE FAULT OF THE AIRLINE FOR HIRING WITHOUT OBVIOUSLY REQUIRING MORE FLIGHT HOURS AND SOME BACKGROUND CHECKING. WE FACE THE POSSIBILITY OF MANY EXTREMISTS WORMING THEIR WAY INTO A PILOT’S COCKPIT….TRAGIC LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY HERE…PRAYING PBO HAS A RESTFUL TRAVEL AGENDA TODAY…WILL BE WATCHING…FIGHTING A COLD…IT’S A HOT TEA DAY…W/ SOME HONEY ON THE SIDE…PLUMBER IS HERE…POOR GUY HAS A COLD TOO…I LOVE MY ENERGIZER PBO…WILL BE WATCHING TODAY!
from bbc live updates
Sean Maffett, an aviation analyst, says a change in staffing levels might help prevent such incidents in future. “One possible answer to this is to insist all flights have three pilots on board, so there are always two of them on the flight deck. But airlines are run by accountants - that’s horrendously much more expensive. It’s a problem that is not going to be resolved straight away.”
exactly. the fucking bean counters and the fucking I-am-entitled-to-my-riches-without-doing-any-work-whatsoever shareholders.
I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL AIRLINES BEFORE WHEN I WORKED AS A FRAUD INVESTIGATOR AND ASKED THEM TO USE BACKGROUND CHECKS ON THEIR BAGGAGE HANDLERS…THEY WON’T EVEN DO THAT!….IT’S ALL FOR PROFIT…FORGET THE PASSENGER SAFETY ATTITUDE!
And looking at the reality of what it costs to run an airline. I have never understood why it cost me $500 to fly to Sydney in the 1980s and now it costs $200.
yup. cutting corners is the only way this could be done. fucking mba’s.
breaking, lufthansa is now admitting on live teevee that the co-pilot seemed to have locked the door from inside.
I’M NOT EVEN LISTENING TO THAT….IT’S PRETTY OBVIOUS…………
Jesus, can you imagine the terror of the pilot trying to get in? Horrific stuff.
and the poor passengers. Hope this opens up a big lawsuit and all the airlines wake up to the reality of safety standards. apparently, this aircraft had some issues the day before and was magically certified as airworthy.
I hate conspiracy decisions with a passion …. but isn’t it so convenient that a dead pilot is being blamed for this? Mind you, people with a fear of flying will probably be as afraid now of suicidal pilots as they are of malfunctioning planes.
I don’t think this is a conspiracy, Chips. The recorder recorded the sound of the co-pilot’s breathing - he was conscious and nervous. They could hear the pilot outside the door. Maybe they will have to walk some of this back, but it sounds to me like they have a good deal of credible evidence.
How do they know he was conscious? What am I missing? Can you tell from hearing someone breathing? Could he simply have had a panic attack being let alone?
He is a pilot. Panic attacks aren’t criteria by which one becomes a pilot. And what prevented him to unlock the door (if it was an automated lock in the first place) and more importantly, what prevented him to fly the plane solo (which he is trained to do).
I have no idea on any of it - I just cannot comprehend a pilot doing what has been suggested. Which is not to say he didn’t do same.
Till the eighties, a pilot’s job used to be prestigious , well paying and with lotsa rest periods between flights. After the ‘low cost carriers’ came into the scene, that all went through the window. I remember reading a piece about pilots being camped out near LAX airport waiting for ‘that call’. Who know this what this one was suffering from?
They could tell by the sound of his breathing. They actually have ways of reading this kind of information: If you’re unconscious, the breathing is different. Also, he had to have locked the door from the inside so that the pilot could not override from outside the cockpit. The black box also shows a deliberate move on his part to put the plane on descent. At least that is what the officials are saying, well, officially.
You’re right 57, I think I’m just so suspicious of the airline industry and the enormous vested interests in this story that I’m doing what I vowed never to do: not dismiss conspiracy theories. If the recording is independently verified then that’s that, it was down to a suicidal pilot.
It is always prudent to voice skepticism. These for-profit businesses are happy to allow all kinds of things as long as their shareholders profit.
I think, way too convenient. I’m waiting for cnn to link him to a terrorist group.
Most airline disasters are conveniently blamed on dead pilots. But this case might be one where it is true. cvr don’t and the french govt need not lie.
They just need to shut down the skeptics quickly - has the recording been independently verified?
The french. It’s not their airline. So, why should they lie?
I am sure there was some indies analysis before this was made public.
And the skeptics can still question the integrity of the indies, right?
Well, the conspiracy theory nutters will question anything, so I wouldn’t worry about them, it’s just those who wouldn’t trust the airline industry as far as they could throw it - with good reason - need to be convinced!
I agree on the not trusting the airlines point but a national govt does not lie. At least, not on such a sensational case.
Now I really feel like a conspiracy nutter ( :-) ): national governments lie all the time. Eg See Iraq War.
fucking dumbya and the neocons. set the bar low so low, didn’t they?
Also too Blair and co.
ALL AIRLINES HAVE EVEN CUT BACK ON THEIR SAFETY CHECKS TO SAVE A NICKEL…I KNOW ALL THIS BECAUSE MY BROTHER SPENT YEARS AS A FLIGHT CAPT….IT’S A JOKE!
jeez, does beebs still have to continue the practice of with german (or whatever the nationality of the translatee ‘speaker’) the accent translations into english? redenculous.
ANYONE WORKING IN AN AIRPORT…CATERING OR RUNNING AROUND WITH YOUR LUGGAGE IS ABLE TO DO WHATEVER…HELLO…$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!

Good Morning BFF and TOD.

The reaction to Police Union Pres McNesby: Our officers don’t leave home every day looking to shoot their guns to harm anybody. We’re out there protecting ourselves.”
It should be noted that the Police Commissioner Ramsey (who was the co-chair of the President’s Police task force) asked for a review from the Justice dept in 2013….

via bbc: Mr Spohr (lufthansa ‘ceo’) says: “No matter your safety regulations, no matter how high you set the bar, and we have incredibly high standards, there is no way to rule out such an event.”
shorter spohr: the fucking buck does not stop with me.

Hello TODville Community.
Wow….1st time on any Website today.
So very sorry to hear that this 28 yrs old Co-Pilot did this and took 150 lives including himself. Wow….I hope that Religion is not part of his psychosis. This is so evil.
Congrats COS on your Gold :star:
Congrats to all the Gold :star: winners 3-4 posts back.
On a simpler news;
Well of course! :)
Oh great. Arizona always has a tie to the crazies.
Yup. Like a magnet. Morning, Jackie…morning everyone:)
Good morning all. Coming here to read your posts is a great start to each and every day. Thanks.
g’nite all - have a great Thursday.
It was a Twin Au :star: event……Hello 99ts ;) Congrats on your Gold and Your nation beating India……. sorry Amk :( . Does this Mean that the Irish wins over the Indians automatically? Or does it mean that both Chips and Amk would have to accept The Australians as The Champions? Good Luck folks.
hehehe - sorry I was gone before reading your post Nena. It means - cricket is not the Irish national game - they should stay with Rugby :)
And on Saturday - with luck and the usual brilliant Aussie play - the team amk is now supporting - will lose.
whatever really happened today or with the air asia and malaysian airlines, all in just one year, it’s high time the governments gave an unbiased and fresh look at the so called aviation standards.
Wikileaks got a hold of the draft for the Trans Pacific Partnership Trade Agreement .
WASHINGTON — An ambitious 12-nation trade accord pushed by President Obama would allow foreign corporations to sue the United States government for actions that undermine their investment “expectations” and hurt their business, according to a classified document.

I hope MSNBC has enough fire extinguishers and are ready for their 5 PM hair on fire report from the TPP chief ranter in charge.
i would be interested in who is the spy at the negotiations or if the President leaked it on purpose

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2015/03/26/morning-plum-what-the-gop-budgets-really-tell-us-about-gops-economic-agenda/
the House GOP leadership successfully passed a budget that would cut $5.5 trillion in spending, repealing Obamacare, block-granting (a.k.a., cutting) Medicaid, and slashing away at food stamps, education, and many other programs. If the Senate this week passes its budget, which contains similar cuts, Republicans in both chambers will try to put them together, and hold a vote on the whole package.
The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities looked at the specified and unspecified reductions in both budgets — which were required to meet the goal of balance in 10 years with zero in new revenues — and determined that each would get at least two thirds of its cuts from programs that help lower income Americans.
the GOP budgets are rooted in the idea that one of the primary obstacles to economic opportunity and mobility is that there is too much government-engineered downward redistribution of wealth. It’s reasonable to surmise that the GOP presidential candidates implicitly share this analysis. As Paul Waldman writes, many of the candidates have flirted with the idea of a flat (i.e., less progressive) tax. Ted Cruz sees the repeal of Obamacare and a flat tax as pivotal to restoring opportunity for our children. Scott Walker is flirting with the party’s most prominent supply siders. Even Jeb Bush, who is said to be the most moderate of the bunch, tacitly premised his big economic speech on the idea that the primary driver of inequality is dependence on the federal government.
Got that? “There’s too much government engineered downward distribution of wealth.” In other words, too much help for the peons. America…wakey wakey! They just aren’t into you!!!
