I think so too, prettyfoot. Murray is not showy like Schumer, but she knows the Senate well and is an excellent strategist and completely ethical.
^5 ^5 Let us weigh in for Patty Murray, she is a tiny little woman, but she is a tough cookie. It doesn’t have to be yet another rich white male to succeed Sen Reid.
I don’t like Schumer because he is bought and paid for by Wall Street the same as HRC.
Patty is terrific…she has been a strong supported of our President, women the military, Who lovew to see her advance in the leadership am not fond of Schumer.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The NCAA is “especially concerned” by a recently enacted law in Indiana, which hosts this year’s Final Four, that grants businesses the right to refuse service to gay and lesbian couples, NCAA President Mark Emmert said in a statement released on Thursday. “The NCAA national office and our members are deeply committed to providing an inclusive environment for all our events,” the statement read. “We are especially concerned about how this legislation could affect our student-athletes and employees. “We will work diligently to assure student-athletes competing in, and visitors attending, next week’s Men’s Final Four in Indianapolis are not impacted negatively by this bill. Moving forward, we intend to closely examine the implications of this bill and how it might affect future events as well as our workforce.”

Darren Wilson was hidden for weeks and I believe much of the evidence was covered up. That is why Texas and probably other red states will hide the offending cops before any evidence can be used to incriminate them.

WE all know Charles Pierce for his writings at Esquire politics blog. He also is a aprotswriter (I believe that was his start in journalism) and is writing on the NCAA tournament for Grantland. He was writing about a couple games last night and had this to say about the Indiana bigotry law:
We should pause here for a moment to congratulate Indiana Governor Mike Pence, who, on Thursday, demonstrated exactly why political writer Matthew Yglesias once called him a fool who deserves to be laughed at, and why the late, great Indiana political gadfly Doghouse Riley regularly referred to him as “The Choirboy.” Convening a private meeting for the purpose, Pence signed something popularly called the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, a law that essentially gives Indiana businesses the freedom to discriminate against gays and lesbians. Pence then went all over the local media demonstrating that a stupid man signing a stupid law can defend it even more stupidly.
First, he told a radio show that he couldn’t come up with a single example whereby a private business had been injured in any way by catering to gay or lesbian customers. Then he tried to justify what he did by saying that this law did not discriminate because it merely mirrored the ill-conceived federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act — which it certainly does not, because the federal law is silent on transactions between private parties. (And, anyway, the federal RFRA, signed in 1993 by President Clinton, was designed primarily to get Native Americans out from under a Supreme Court decision that essentially forbade them from using peyote as a sacrament.) What Pence did do, of course, is guarantee that next week’s Final Four is going to be a shit show of the very first order.
Even if you’re in favor of the law, and shame on you if you are, Pence couldn’t have waited two weeks before bringing the circus to town? It may cost him the national meeting of the Disciples of Christ, and mammoth tech company Salesforce already has canceled plans to hold events in Indiana. Random celebrities have gone up the wall, and even Mark Emmert of the NCAA bestirred himself to say the right thing. And when you’ve ceded the moral high ground to the NCAA, you have drifted far from the pack indeed.
““We are especially concerned about how this legislation could affect our student-athletes and employees,” NCAA President Mark Emmert said in a statement Thursday afternoon.
“He said the NCAA will “work diligently” to ensure competitors and visitors at next week’s Final Four are not “negatively impacted by this bill.” Emmert also said the organization, which is based in Indianapolis, will “closely examine the implications of this bill and how it might affect future events as well as our workforce.”

Listen, I’m all for space exploration and stuff. I love Star Trek and I’m a diehard Star Wars fan, and I wish nothing but the best for those two people that are going to live in space for an entire year. But am I the only one that’s thinking about their physical wellbeing? What happens when one of these guys wakes up in the morning with an erection, all that training goes out the window. I mean on paper this sounds all good and dandy, but come on, my goodness. I’m just saying, if the future of mankind depended on me living in outer space for a year to study the effects of space travel on humans, I don’t know if mankind would make it.
LOL! Pretty sure lots of planning and thought went into it, Don. Some people are willing to make sacrifices for the cause of science. :-D

It was no accident that the future Michelle Obama pressed ahead with her application after being waitlisted, or that she set out to make a difference. Raised in a working class Chicago family and educated at Princeton, she had lived the roiling discussions about inequality that were taking place at Harvard and around the country. At the law school by that year, “all the talk and the debates were shifting to race,” said Elena Kagan, a recent graduate and future Supreme Court justice.
During her three years on campus, Michelle represented indigent clients, worked on a law journal focused on African-American perspectives and sought to inspire a greater sense of purpose in her fellow students. Her friends were not surprised. “Michelle always, everything she wrote, the things that she was involved in, the things that she thought about, were in effect reflections on race and gender,” said Charles Ogletree, a Harvard professor and mentor to Michelle. “And how she had to keep the doors open for women and men going forward.”
