From Republican Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who asked for horror stories about Obamacare and was instead deluged with stories from people who have been helped by it:

The stories are largely around pre-existing conditions and those that are getting health insurance up to age 26.

that’s what SHE says because she says the GOP “alternative” will keep those popular parts of the program. the few snapshot views I saw of comments talked about subsidies, affordability, in addition to pre-existing conditions.

The Romney/GOP b.s. “alternatives” only talk about covering pre-existing conditions if you are transitioning from employer - provided insurance. NOT the all-encompassing provision of ACA.AND - there is no mention of what it will cost to cover pre-existing conditions if there is no mandate or subsidies. They may be covered, but unaffordable, you GOP nitwit!

Funny how only AA school districts were targeted. You can’t tell me that other non-minority school districts weren’t cheating too. I don’t see the point of putting teachers and administrators in jail for cheating and getting bonus yet Wall Street gets fined and continue working.

It looks like it’s make or break time on the Iran talks. Time to send all your good energy, thoughts, prayers for peace. If negotiators don’t find a way to a political agreement, it seems likely it will be the end of the process and the warm mongers on both sides will have the upper hand.

If he started advocating raising 1%ers/corporations’ taxes or calling out the GOP’s bigotry and treasonous behavior he would be fired immediately. Instead he is a propagandists who can get away with saying he is ashamed to be an American because PBO did not partake in the photo op in Paris and not wake up to a pink slip.

All *I* know for sure, Vicki, is that I want there to be a deal, if only to shake up the years of stagnancy and ‘war’ talk and to reset the approach to international dialogue. Plus, I know if PBO agrees to a deal it will be because he believes is the best outcome under the circumstances. No deal while PBO is in power, IMO, will put us right back into the depths of the war mongers’ default position - sound and fury, incessant anger, bombast, and nothing productive.

I feel just what you do, also named Vicki. I want this deal to happen because it is clearly the best path for the world to follow, away from endless war.

Not as high-minded but just as sincere is that I want President Obama to have this victory. This deal, if it happens will be an historic legacy piece just as Obamacare is.

No matter what the GOP does.

I’m not sure of all the details but Menendez is accused of a quid pro quo relationship with a donor.
If I recall correctly. Rangel’s ethics charges had to do with non-disclosure of assets and using his office stationary to raise funds for a college construction project that was to be named after him.

Seems he will be no loss to his political party

“Even while under federal investigation, he has used his leadership position on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to criticize negotiations between President Barack Obama’s administration and Iran on its nuclear program and has been outspoken in opposition to normalizing relations with Cuba.”

        http://bigstory.ap.org/article/65615613edeb4ccbbd053daa380912df/new-jersey-sen-bob-menendez-indicted-corruption-charges

As usual - it seems Federal government money exists to be shared with friends
“The investigation focused on whether the senator had improperly advocated on Melgen’s behalf, including by intervening in a Medicare billing dispute.” …

“Melgen came under renewed scrutiny when government data last year showed he had received more in Medicare reimbursements in 2012 than any other doctor in the country.”

I don’t doubt it COS - it is always about the money. I was seriously amazed when I discovered how much time US politicians spend fundraising. If I gave the amounts given I might be expecting some favorable attention myself - which is why the money has to somehow be taken out of elections. It seems the limits that used to exist have disappeared the way of any checks on finances in the “free market” economy.

The only downside is NJ law allows Christie to appoint a GOPer (like he did in ’13) until a special election. At this point I could care less because this moron Menendez says he will probably abstain from voting for Lynch for A.G. b/c of indictment….so he is useless in my book anyway.

Governors Scott Walker of Wisconsin, Chris Christie of New Jersey, Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and former Texas Governor Rick Perry, all staunch opponents of President Barack Obama’s 2010 Affordable Care Act, have collectively applied for and won at least $352 million through grant programs set up by the law, federal records show.

The action is at odds with the public stance of all four potential candidates, who have blasted the law as an unprecedented expansion of government and called for its repeal.

I figured that out a while back because the treason reqs included something about war. However, IMO, the Republicans have shown that *something* needs to done about their ruling techniques/strategies. They have done NOTHING to help the country as a whole and a whole lot to sabotage its progress. They have audaciously shouted ‘no’ to every measure to move the country forward while still collecting a hefty salary. In no other field could an employee so blatantly and consistently try to gum up the works and not be held accountable. Having Republicans set such negative governing precedents with no legal recourse to stop them should be a wake up call to all serious law makers. The irony of course is that they themselves are the majority lawmakers so though their methods are unpatriotic in the extreme, I currently see no way to get around them.

pf and vc—I read the definitions of sedition you provided and I don’t think the GOP behavior gets to sedition. GOP does everything up to but NOT including advocating overthrow of our gov’t.

There are probably no legal remedies available for us.

The DNC DCCC and DSCC should be handling this with vigorous campaigns in support of PBO and his policies. MIA before the mid-terms and now.
Those orgs are dead—useless. They only stick their heads up when they stick their hands out.

I fear the next 2 years will be tough for us and with Lady Walmart the only candidate in sight, I see no relief for liberal progressive democrats.

My ticket would be Biden/Castro or Biden/de Blasio.

John del Cecato tweeted today that Bill de Blasio is on his way to Iowa to raise his national profile. Since he can’t be HRC’s VP due to Pres and VP cannot come from same state law, I have to wonder what my excellent Mayor is up to.
