Off to see the doc and do Easter grocery shopping. Have a Terrific Thursday – (fingers crossed) would be sweet to return to some good nuclear talk news!
Hel-lo, TS! No chocolate eggs for you since I don’t buy Easter candy - shopping is for real food. ;);) Doctor’s visit is just for her to tell me she cannot do anything about this cold that has been dancing from my throat to chest to head for the last two weeks! It doesn’t seem to be going away and from time to time it makes my head feel like it’s borrowed. I’m going only because it’ll make me feel like I’m looking into the matter.
Y, TY, D! I feel a bit better already. :D See you later - it’s actually a 9am appointment so I’d better push off. Not that they ever see you at the stated time - drives me crazy though I always take a book with me to avoid their old magazines.
Morning Chips! Question - have *you* made the font in TOD smaller or is that a WordP effect? Seems like the font shrinks almost weekly - and don’t tell me it’s my eyes/glasses!
Morning VC!!! Haven’t changed it at all, but my browser does very strange things with TOD, Twitter and other places, sometimes shrinks the page without me doing a darn thing - well, maybe I’m accidentally doing something. Could that be it, or does it only happen at TOD?
Morning Chips and early risers. I read last night that John Kerry had negotiated all night, so I hope he’s had some sleep since then, although I’m completely confused by the time zones. You have to have some kind of iron constitution to survive this kind of tense negotiation. It’s one thing to be up all night, it’s another thing to keep your wits about you. It’s nerve-wracking enough waiting for results. Imagine how it would feel trying to make things happen. Still, I do hope he gets to go home in time to celebrate Easter with his family.
Chips, did you keep the name/number of the guy who helped you fix your desk? The one thing I would never try is self-assembly. I’d be likely to find myself on the floor in the middle of the night with the bed draped around me.
My deskman superhero is visiting his son a gazillion miles away, he’s back next week and is doing some painting for me. So, I’m going to have to have a go at this, and I confidently predict tomorrow’s Early Bird will be late as I try to extract myself from a collapsed, mangled bed :???:
Years ago, I would drive through Indiana to get to Chicago and I once had a business meeting in Indianapolis. But I’ve never been tempted to go there since. If Indiana chooses to become a cesspool of intolerance, then they deserve all the consequences that come with it.
This might be the last time I get to greet you for days with you having a bed project so; Gooooooooooooooooooal morning Chips. this should hold till you return 😘
Yeah, Linda, because if you’re a decent person who hates prejudice, you’ve got to be gay. What small minds these people have. Life is a hell of their own making, filled with people they hate and distrust.
What came to MY mind is…they learned this horror from us…we always seem to be shocked when this happens in other countries, but it has happened more in our own and we do nothing to change….round and round we go
So true, this latest horror will probably go unnoticed in our country. I know we aren’t the world’s police but people that do this sort of thing should not be able to draw their next breath.
did you happen to sign the petition I posted last night? Don’t know if it will do any good, but if enough people sign it maybe the people that have the power to fix this mess will free her and do something about this….it all disgusts me.
Not to break balls, Chips, but I don’t like the look of those pegs. With those types of pegs, usually paste is involved. If you were putting together a desk I wouldn’t be worried, but a bed is a totally different animal.
I’m with Don, Chiparoo. Don’t listen to Amk. Didn’t the delivery price come with a promise of set up?
With a bed, if not set up properly, it can collapse and cause back problems and other problems. If there’s someone in the area who can help, or is more of an expert with stuff like that, you might want to ask them or call for a fixer person. Stay safe.
Thanks Nerdy. It’s embarrassing: I thought I’d bought an-already-built-bed, and when the guy arrived I was too busy saying “um” to ask for help. He was gone before I lifted my jaw back off the floor. I won’t mess around with it, if it looks as tricky as I think it is I’ll summon help at the weekend!
Don’t do it Chips. There’s got to be someone in the area who will assemble this for you and make sure it’s safe. Better to sleep on the couch and wait for an expert than to get yourself in a tangled mess.
Good morning TOD.
Just checking in now and catching up. A belated thanks to Nerdy for the massively informative tweets. And laughs.
Things to be grateful for today—lots of them!!!
1) Cautious optimism seems to be in order as far as the info coming out of Laussane.
2) McDonalds $1.00 over the minimum wage—pegged to every local wage!—-is a brilliant first step. As is their paid leave for Every employee—part or full time, payable by check if employee does not use it paid time off. Yes, it is only for 90,000 of the millions who work in McD, but as I said, a Brilliant first step.
3) Boehner came and went to Israel and nobody noticed or cared.
4) Bob Menedez in big trouble.
5) Sunny and mild in NYC.
6) Barack Obama is Our President.
Not even sure…since I rarely visit Old Orange. But I remember him constantly downplaying good economic news & positive jobs reports and gleefully hyping up any hint of negative news…
Of course, two conflicting reports about Iran today. Bloomberg says after 8 1/2 hour marathon last night, no progress. FM Zarif is doing same happy talk about making lots of progress. I guess we’ll see soon enough.
GM Chips! Congrats on being #1!!
Mooooooooorning Allison!!!
mmmm
You mean I’m delicious? Aw, thank you 99ts - and gooooood evening to ya!
I would say incorrigible rather than delicious - being I have a way with words - gm on your Easter Thursday.
Thursday greetings & blessings, folks!
Off to see the doc and do Easter grocery shopping. Have a Terrific Thursday – (fingers crossed) would be sweet to return to some good nuclear talk news!
hi vc - hope things are good at the doc - you sound mighty cheerful for such an outing. Buy lots of chocolate eggs - I’ll taste them for you.
Hel-lo, TS! No chocolate eggs for you since I don’t buy Easter candy - shopping is for real food. ;) ;) Doctor’s visit is just for her to tell me she cannot do anything about this cold that has been dancing from my throat to chest to head for the last two weeks! It doesn’t seem to be going away and from time to time it makes my head feel like it’s borrowed. I’m going only because it’ll make me feel like I’m looking into the matter.
Good Morning vcprez, good luck at the doc and may your Easter grocery shopping go smoothly. We shall eagerly await your return.
Y, TY, D! I feel a bit better already. :D See you later - it’s actually a 9am appointment so I’d better push off. Not that they ever see you at the stated time - drives me crazy though I always take a book with me to avoid their old magazines.

Good Morning TOD! And good morning Senator Bob Martinez, and yes, you did get indicted on April Fool’s Day, you fucking schmuck.
:) - you’ve said it all Don

This is CLASSIC!
G’morning Chips & TOD! Happy Thursday everyone. Thanks Jackie G for the #Irantalks update…still trying to be hopeful about this. :)
MoooooOOOoooOOooooOOooooorning Hopefruit!!
My hope is that Iran takes this opportunity to become a part of the world community once again. The P5+1 is giving them an out, they should take it.
Well, greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat - I ordered a new bed, it just arrived ……. in 9,367 pieces that have to be assembled.
And I wondered why it was such a bargain
Amk has happily volunteered to help you put it together! You all can bond over the bed-assembling… :) :)
5000 bucks + bidness class tkts ought to do it.
And I reserve the right to take #danny back with me.
That’s very reasonable by your standards, are you mellowing?
#gotcoweddown
I can imagine what he’d do with it, this’d be what I’d be sleeping in tonight
well, you wanted elaborate. You got one. #getonwithit
That’s probably what’ll look like when I’m finished :???:
well, this is mine.
Um, lovely pants you have on there. And would you not think about shaving?
I’ll take this one, except not too sure about that thingy hanging on the wall..
Oh no! I don’t believe in assembling anything, I always tip the delivery men something extra just to put things together and take away the trash.
Chips, did you keep the name/number of the guy who helped you fix your desk? The one thing I would never try is self-assembly. I’d be likely to find myself on the floor in the middle of the night with the bed draped around me.
 That is my chief concern, Jackie!!!
My deskman superhero is visiting his son a gazillion miles away, he’s back next week and is doing some painting for me. So, I’m going to have to have a go at this, and I confidently predict tomorrow’s Early Bird will be late as I try to extract myself from a collapsed, mangled bed :???:
HEADS UP: First Lady Michelle Obama will be on Jimmy Fallon tonight.
Thanks Nerdy for the heads up! Jimmy sure loves having FLOTUS on his show. And it’s not just the ratings… :) :)
yet another al shabab attack in kenya. in a college.

yet another reason to boycott
Years ago, I would drive through Indiana to get to Chicago and I once had a business meeting in Indianapolis. But I’ve never been tempted to go there since. If Indiana chooses to become a cesspool of intolerance, then they deserve all the consequences that come with it.
Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family.
Moooooooooooooooooooorning GGail!!!
This might be the last time I get to greet you for days with you having a bed project so; Gooooooooooooooooooal morning Chips. this should hold till you return 😘
You have SO little faith in my DIY skills!!!!
I Know You
Good Morning, Everyone :)
Good Morning…
Apparently Katty Kay assumes that Seth Hutchinson is gay because he asked his father to veto the bill…….her prejudice is showing.
Yeah, Linda, because if you’re a decent person who hates prejudice, you’ve got to be gay. What small minds these people have. Life is a hell of their own making, filled with people they hate and distrust.
So Hutchinson’s son has to tell his dad not to be a total dick.
Listening to the news and hearing about that attack of the college in Kenya, first thing came to my mind was POTUS trip in July.
I was thinking the same thing, bella, but I do hope that he still attends the summit though.
Indiana has added LGBT protections to the bill, but not to the civil rights law ……
This is not good enough.
In the words of Malcolm X, “What is it to stick a man in the back with a knife nine inches, and pull it out only six inches?”
also indiana loves to send women who miscarry to prison.
did you happen to sign the petition I posted last night? Don’t know if it will do any good, but if enough people sign it maybe the people that have the power to fix this mess will free her and do something about this….it all disgusts me.
no, please post it again. With states like Indiana, who needs the taliban?
here you go. pass it on.
https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/issue-full-and-immediate-pardon-indiana-resident-purvi-patel
just did. Am angry how little attention this case has garnered.
wonder what happens when it rains.
Better question-what happens if that flimsy bridge goes out? You could be stuck in that tree house forever!!!!!
Where’s the satellite dish?
egg.sack.lee
OMG, it looks like I’m building a space rocket thingie
just a coupla screws and dowels.
And here I thought you had ordered a queen’s bed. pshaw.
A couple?!?!?!?!?!?!
tell danny diy means danny it yourself. he’ll do it in a jiffy.
#dramaqueen
And the instructions tell me only Shaggy from Scooby Doo and his friend can build this
you have your own scooby. so move it and get crackin’.
It’ll be friggin’ tick-tocking for a month - I mean, WTF:
you made your bed. so now, you can lie on it …..
oh, that’s right. you didn’t make your bed…. yet.
next time ? (if there is one).
http://www.pepperfry.com/
they will come and fix it free.
whaddyamean whether they will come to ireeshland?
Chips you need to just STOP ordering anything online! Just Stop!!! LOL
What? You mean you can shop offline????
Not to break balls, Chips, but I don’t like the look of those pegs. With those types of pegs, usually paste is involved. If you were putting together a desk I wouldn’t be worried, but a bed is a totally different animal.
Oh yikes, thanks Don, I’m still on page one of the instructions so I’ll see what they say. This is looking worrying.
I’m with Don, Chiparoo. Don’t listen to Amk. Didn’t the delivery price come with a promise of set up?

Methinks you’re right Jackie, my head hurts even looking at the instructions - and (I could be wrong) there appear to be two bits missing!1!1!
ACK!! OMG, that is TERRIFYING!!
It’s evil, Meta, completely evil.
I’m serious. I would be dialing CODE BLUE.
Good Morning Chips CIC. I hate to bring it up but you and assembling furniture do not mix…i.e. that desk iincident? :) :) :)
But JoJo, I had that very desk incident in mind when I ordered this …. I thought it would come assembled
Put the mattress on the floor and call it good…that way you won’t have to yell at Danny for jumping up on the bed.
I think it will come to that DF, either that or a tent.
Not the worst thing in the world:)
Good morning TOD.

Have a beautiful day everyone.
More reasons to be grateful:
Unemployment claims down to 268,000. For years I doubted it would ever sink below 300,000. It was 700,000 when PBO took office in 2009.
Deficit also shrinking
And then this…
Paging Bobswern of Old Orange…
Yes. People more optimistic. A competent President is a wonderful thing.
“People more optimistic”
Everyone, except Bobswern…
gud gawd. is that nut still around?
Not even sure…since I rarely visit Old Orange. But I remember him constantly downplaying good economic news & positive jobs reports and gleefully hyping up any hint of negative news…
We talk about this ALL THE TIME….

Good morning, Chips and TODville.
Of course, two conflicting reports about Iran today. Bloomberg says after 8 1/2 hour marathon last night, no progress. FM Zarif is doing same happy talk about making lots of progress. I guess we’ll see soon enough.
I saw the bloomberg report after I wrote of my cautious optimism. Oh well. Mood disrupted.
The frustration and exhaustion must be at fever pitch in U.S. quarters.
