I hope that, too. And that’s also what a lot of people thought 50 years ago. Much has changed, yes. But a lot of the racism was just buried within the generations of bigots, chatted about at the feed troughs, only to surface again. How the police act is just part of it.

        Another immigration decision?

        April 07, 2015, 04:15 pm
Appeals court sides with Obama over 2012 deportation program

A federal appeals court on Tuesday upheld the dismissal of a lawsuit against an Obama administration program delaying deportations of certain illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children.

The unanimous opinion from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals comes as a separate case on whether President Obama’s expanded immigration executive actions can proceed.

In the decision on Tuesday, the court ruled plaintiffs, the state of Mississippi and agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) did not provide enough evidence to prove they were harmed by the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that allows qualifying illegal immigrants to apply for work permits.

“We conclude that neither the agents nor the state of Mississippi has demonstrated the concrete and particularized injury required to give them standing to maintain this suit,” the court’s opinion states.
Mississippi had argued that immigrants granted work permits through DACA would have raised costs for the state associated with schools, healthcare programs and law enforcement. Mississippi cited a 2006 study estimating the net cost of illegal immigration at $25 million per year.

If this hasn’t been posted yet—Good news from Ferguson.
Turnout increased dramatically and now there are 3 black council members and 4 white members. A gain of 2 more AA and a win of 2 out of 3 open seats. Moving towards more accurate reflection of the community.
Congratulations to all who worked so hard to get this result.

It is a blessing that someone was present and alert to video this police execution of an innocent man. The video is clearly irrefutable. Police murder of innocent and unarmed black men is a fact that must be revealed and stopped.

it’s daily mail tabloid trash but still worth reading

How Snowden helped three terror groups: Al-Qaeda linked extremists said to have changed way they communicate after leaks by the traitor

At least three terror groups plotting attacks against Britain have changed their communication methods since the leaks by Edward Snowden, it was claimed last night.

The Al Qaeda-linked networks have altered their tactics since the fugitive stole intelligence files from GCHQ and the US National Security Agency, according to a report.

Extremist websites have also moved to protect their digital communications by releasing encryption programmes for followers, making it harder for extremists to be tracked down.

Evidence of the harm done to intelligence agencies across the world after the former CIA contractor leaked 1.7million classified documents in 2013 is compiled in the first comprehensive public analysis of the leaks by the Henry Jackson Society security think-tank.

The Snowden files revealed details about covert attempts by agencies to view citizens’ private information by gathering internet histories, emails, text and call records and passwords.

Now the Henry Jackson Society has found that at least three Al Qaeda affiliates are known to have altered their communications, using human couriers instead of email and mobile phones.

    ///

On Monday, Snowden revealed he had not read all the top-secret dossiers he stole before handing them to newspapers including the Guardian – a move which has put lives in jeopardy from terrorists.

He claims he had to act because the US and other Western governments’ policies were a ‘threat to democracy’.

Snowden could have been someone if he’d stayed in the US and supported black people against the police who are killing them. THAT is the threat to democracy in the US.

I just read the report on the death of Walter Scott - written by media supporting the police - BEFORE the video was available. This is how the police get the media to write up every shooting in which they are involved. Some wonderful sentences

“A statement released by North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said a man ran on foot from the traffic stop and an officer deployed his department-issued Taser in an attempt to stop him. That did not work, police said, and an altercation ensued as the men struggled over the device. Police allege that during the struggle the man gained control of the Taser and attempted to use it against the officer. The officer then resorted to his service weapon and shot him, police alleged.
It was not immediately clear how many times Scott had been shot or where on his body he was wounded. ”

mmmm - It was not known that EIGHT shots were fired into the BACK of the victim. Why would that not be known?

POTUS on full court press regarding the Iran deal. In addition to interviews with NYT/Friedman and NPR/Inskeep:

“The president has also argued in support of an agreement in private conversations with journalists. On Monday afternoon, he met with roughly a dozen opinion writers and editors at the White House for a nearly two-hour, off-the-record meeting focused primarily on the Iran deal, according to sources familiar with the gathering.

Sources said that the group of journalists included The New Yorker’s Dexter Filkins, The Daily Beast’s Michael Tomasky, The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, New York’s Jonathan Chait, The New York Times’ Carol Giacomo, The Wall Street Journal’s Gerald Seib and a quartet from the Washington Post: David Ignatius, Ruth Marcus, Eugene Robinson and Greg Sargent.

The Huffington Post Washington Bureau Chief Ryan Grim also attended the private meeting, but did not discuss the substance of the meeting for the purpose of this article.”

    I am truly numb.
Mr. Bobfr, your tweet helped me to be able to fall asleep after I retweeted it . And for that I am grateful.
