This morning, I come to you all with a heavy heart. BB King was the greatest guy I ever met. The tone he got out of that guitar, the way he shook his left wrist, the way he squeezed the strings… man, he came out with that and it was all new to the whole guitar playin' world. He could play so smooth, he didn't have to put on a show. The way BB did it is the way we all do it now. He was my best friend and father to us all. I'll miss you, B. I love you and I promise I will keep these damn Blues alive. Rest well. All my love, Buddy

Just heard from my dad that he’s been chosen for the next Honor Flight out of the Quad Cities - on June 2. He’s pretty excited - as are we all. That will be a very long, but wonderful, day for him. Of course, it just won’t be as memorable without Michelle Bachman there to greet them. :-)

Way cool, muscatinegal! He must be over-the-moon excited! Good for him!

Some info for those who might be unfamiliar:
      http://honorflightqc.org/

In 2008, The Quad Cities formed a local chapter of the Honor Flight Network, called Honor Flight of the Quad Cities (HFQC). The purpose of HFQC is to fly America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to honoring their sacrifices.

Top priority is given to WWII and Korean War Era Veterans, or any veterans with a terminal illness. The intention is to honor our local and regional heroes who were selfless in their military duty with a free trip to visit their memorials. Veterans within a 75 mile radius of the Quad Cities are encouraged to apply. The program operates on donations from organizations and individuals. Volunteers of all kinds plan and coordinate the flight events, and special guardians are trained to help escort the veterans on flight days.

We have Honor Air here in Knoxville. Operates pretty much same way. Wonderful thing. Local stations always do a story/coverage, especially when the veterans return home. So moving.

My eyes grew to the size of melons. Then I saw that it won’t really be implemented until 2017.

Dakota, I’m so glad you had a good birthday. Didn’t have a chance to wish you a happy one earlier, so hope you’ll accept my belated best wishes.

It’s incomprehensible, AMK, and very barbaric. Most civilized societies should have moved beyond this by now.
