As our thoughts go with the Bidens …

People make the father smile
One heart to another heart
Helps him walk another mile
Briefly helps his tears depart

The loving son has gone on first
A proud family waves farewell
He was here but for a time
Until he heard the angel’s bell

Now they know they all can cling
To each other’s hands, not alone
Later they’ll smile in the knowing
God just called their loved one home

Chips - Thank you so much for using my poem here. And thanks to those who left such nice comments on the previous thread. I decided to post my poems on the White House memorial page for Beau Biden, too.

Here’s hoping our Vice President and his family get lots of rest over the next two nights, as they are going to need it on Saturday!

These photos show such dignified, raw grief. Jacqueline, thanks for sharing your heartfelt poem. The Bidens are rooted in their faith. May they find solace from that and the outpouring of love and respect. Come unto Him, all ye that labour, come unto Him that are heavy laden, and He will give you rest.

I attended my niece’s graduation this morning from middle school. She and Sasha were born the same year. I can’t believe how time has flown by. It seemed like yesterday she was heading to kindergarden, them middle school now she is heading to high school. She is a very smart, kind, and lovely young lady….just like the Obama girls and many young ladies she graduated with. My brother and I grew up poor and our father was not present in our lives. My mom struggled but we perservered. My brother and I were the only two to graduate from college. He married and is a very involved father and good husband. He married a wonder person, I just love my sister-in-law.

I also want to give my love and hugs to {{{Africa}}}}. I am so sorry to hear that your husband passed away yesterday. Your TOD family is here for you, be safe taking your son to college, I know you have been waiting for this day to see him off to start his adult life. Prayers to you and your family.

I see the pain in VP Biden face, and Jill too. Even though we know that death is a part of life, that one day it is sure to come, it still is not easy. By no means is it easy. Lord be with the Biden family, give them the strength to make it through each second, minute, hour, each day.

      • 85 hopefruit2
        June 4, 2025 at 7:55 pm

Amen Anniebella. Death is never easy, but when a parent has to bury their child, or when young kids lose a parent, it’s a particularly cruel thing. Joe Biden lost his mom in 2010. She was 92. It was sad, but not tragic. She had lived a full life, and had seen her children & grandchildren grow up, get married, etc, and was alive when her son become Vice President of US.

But this is different. It just seems so cruel and unfair.

“The Israeli military sees potential security benefits in an expected international deal curbing Iran’s nuclear program, a senior officer was quoted as saying on Thursday in an unexpected analysis of the issue. Prime Minister Netanyahu has presented the planned deal as a threat to Israel. But in a closed-door briefing to Israeli reporters published in part by local media, the officer said the deal - if agreed by its June 30 deadline - could provide clarity on whether Iran is on course to a bomb. Western powers share Israel’s fear that the Iranians harbor ambitions to get nuclear weapons - something Tehran denies - and years of negotiations backed by sanctions have aimed to eradicate any such capability.

The senior Israeli officer said that, for now, measures sought by international negotiators such as stepped-up inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities and scaling back of its uranium enrichment “allow for the supposition that, in the coming period of years, this is a threat in decline”. A military source confirmed the authenticity of the quotes to Reuters. They reflect wider thinking in Israel’s armed forces, where senior staff have recently made clear they were more worried about the dangers posed by Iran’s guerrilla allies in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza than its nuclear program….continued”

Once again, The President is leading the way forward.

Despite red-in-the face infants-Ed— yelling about trade as though we live in a vaccum,
Not having a new and better trade deal will not accomplish the objective of raising wages in other countries. That is a battle that can never be won.
Grown-ups don’t have tantrums and demand the impossible.
PBO and other enlightened folks observe the changes in our world and respond to as many we can in the most effective manner we can.

Just saying NO to trade gets you nowhere. Sorry Sen. Sanders. Your are wrong in your opposition to POTUS regarding trade.

Put another way; We can’t stop the damage globalization has done to workers or reverse it. The best we can do is be a part of what happens going forward so that we may help shape the future.

    Take a moment to read…

When Barbara Lewis lost her husband, Charles, to testicular cancer in 1978, the 32-year-old Delaware native had a 7-year-old daughter, a 2 ½-year-old son, no health benefits and no job. But she had one powerful asset: Sen. Joe Biden was in her corner. The Democratic lawmaker grieved with her, personally assured her of his support and deployed his office to tackle the tedious but necessary paperwork to help her get on her feet. She experienced a heartfelt, personal connection coupled with constituent service that brought the best of politics to her at the worst of times.

She told her story amid the national outpouring of support for the vice president as he mourns his son Beau, who was taken by brain cancer at 46. As Beau lies in honor at Legislative Hall in Dover, Del., ahead of his funeral on Saturday, Lewis wants the vice president to know that some of the people he comforted in their grief years ago have not forgotten and are ready to give back…continued

“Your dad beamed with pride and love for you,” Markell said. “His attachment to his parents is now a part of history.”….“Never has a son’s love been so genuine and so deep”… “I want to make sure you all know how grateful I am,” the vice president said to one small group. When asked how he was holding up, Joe Biden responded, “You guys are holding me up.”….continued

    Not news to TOD.
The fact-free Politico advised its readers that in much the same way, Elizabeth W and VP Biden aren’t going to run for president in 2016.

What?????? EW said about 100 times that she wasn’t running and her PACS have shut down.
VP Biden has said he will decide on a 2016 run by the end of summer, 2015.
