    GM TODville.

So far behind that I just now saw PBO’s reception at the airport (yesterday morning western hemisphere time).

It was apparent that the weight of the world appeared to lift off PBO’s shoulders as he descended the steps from AF1.

PBO is unerringly gracious at all times, but he seemed so relaxed (and joking!) while signing the Official Guest Book.

Thank goodness for @PeteSouza, who captured the warmth and connection of the orphan girl greeting our President.

This airport greeting has to be one of the most memorable I’ve seen.

THANK YOU Chips, NerdyW (and lesser BTs, LOL) for your public service in providing impeccable coverage of history-as-it-happens. Love you all.

MorningTOD. The president looks so happy and relaxed.
How can he keep himself so far above all the foolishness, I will never know.
    Wish I had his secret.
S/n my son is doing well. Recovery is slow but steady. New lungs are working well. He is home, thank God. Still requires24/7 observation, but he is home. Thank you for your prayers.

As much as I’m hating that President Obama won’t be POTUS much longer and as much as I fear who will be the next President… I am so looking forward to him becoming a free citizen again. I want to be a part of whatever he takes on and involves himself in and I’m excited by the changes he will continue to make on his own. And I will never ever tire of listening to him and being inspired and eager by his ideas and ideals.

And that is my fear, President Obama does not crave power nor does he necessarily needs power to accomplish his goals.

        • 53 vcprezofan2
          July 25, 2025 at 11:27 am

Personally, I don’t understand why it is a ‘fear’. I see it as a release - IMO PBO will be freer to do the ‘right thing for him’ in situations going forward. GIven the man he is, I believe the right thing for him will be the right thing for many others and for society as a whole. I honestly cannot wait to see the direction both he and Michelle will take! Of course, a part of me believes that some of their actions will be centred around leading the more awakened U.S. citizens to more legitimate avenues they can take to accomplish change in certain areas.

I can see your point, and I didn’t spell out my ‘fear’. It is more like a fear of him not being President, I wholeheartedly look forward to him doing the things to better society as a private citizen.

What I noticed about this press conference is that the U.S. press asks simple, almost gotcha questions compared to the African press which ask multi layered questions that required thoughtful answers.

Sherijr, I so agree with you. I can’t get ready for President Barack H. Obama’s to leave the Whitehouse…but like you I will support and be a part of whatever venture he take on. But we must all admit it is time for the Obamas to have their lives back. My God they have served this ungrateful nation well. There will be many after him trying to copy his every move…#44 can not be copied!!!!
    HE IS THE REAL DEAL!!!

:D :D I’ve been looking at private homes for sale in Nairobi, and trying to convert the prices to dollars. Not that I know why I’m doing this! Reminds me of my grandma’s old admonishment - ‘The devil always find work for idle hands to do!’ :D

I am proud that PBO spoke out against discrimination of LGBT in Kenya. I was watching this “realty” show about a gay couple and an AA woman, something about knowing your enemies. I watched it because the woman was an anti-gay Christian who had to spend time with the gay couple and be part of their wedding. Some of the things she spouted was awful and disrespectful to the couple. In the end she did not change her mind but she took them to an AA church and the minister preached that you need to love everybody and focus on Jesus teachings. I wished that someone would have told her that the same arguments she was using against the gay couple was used for slavery.

I think one journalists had some nerve to ask POTUS about what him and his family talked about? I was hoping POTUS would tell that journalists, I mean no disrespect, but that’s really none of your business.

BEHIND THE LENS by Pete Souza

    The President in 50 Countries
To mark President Obama’s visit to Kenya, Chief Official White House Photographer Pete Souza shares a photo from each country the President’s visited while in office.

Today[yesterday really], President Obama visits Kenya — the 50th country he has visited during his Administration. It’s also my 50th country traveling with the President.

To mark the occasion, as I did when the President visited his 50th state, I chose one photograph from each country that we’ve visited.

Traveling abroad with the President is very different.

Often times, I am at the mercy of the host country for access. Some countries are more accommodating to me than others. I am lucky to have counterpart official photographers in many countries who are extremely helpful to me in this regard. I of course try to return the help to them when they visit the White House with their head of state.

We’re also rarely in any one country for more than a couple of days, which gives us only a partial glimpse of each place. And because of security, the sites we are able to visit are often limited too.

Now I am just a weeping basket case. I cried harder every frame. How incredible is PBO; it occurs to me there very well may not be a single person alive on this planet who does not recognize him instantly, or know his name. The Age of Obama - all the children who meet him, saying Obama, will tell their children, their grandchildren and their great-grandchildren, Here is Obama - as long as his name is spoken aloud, around the world, his work will continue. For many decades and generations to come, right on into the New Age of Aquarius, which is still a couple hundred years out. We are in the birth throes of a world in which peace and brother/sisterhood is widely sought, in which war, hatred and greed are dying a painful death. Many of us here will not see the fruits of that age, at least not from this side of the Veil. But know we have been a vital factor in contributing energy, thought and heart to bringing it in. Thank you, to PBO, to MO, to all here who are dedicated to staying in the Light. Now, I must log off and rest a while. Perhaps a cup of tea in hand. {{{{{ TOD }}}}} <3

VC, thanks for posting these. I did notice that the pic of PBO walking across the Panama Canal is not captioned correctly. I hope someone can tweet it to Pete. All in all, the pictures Pete chose are great, they show the warm human side of our President.

Hi, just got back from lunch and chores. :D Good eyes re the caption! (I didn’t read them as I only looked at the pics quickly to see which ones he chose. They are probably enjoying the State Dinner so I won’t tweet it now, but if Pete hasn’t picked up on it by tomorrow I may send a tweet while they’re en route.

Things that CNN claims are breaking news that are not.

    1. Pollard release. It was already scheduled for November long before the Iran deal
    2. Hillary to testify in October on Benghazi. She always said she would testify IN PUBLIC. Looks to me like Trey Gowdy caved in his demand she testify behind closed doors.

“As an African-American, I am painfully aware of what happens when people are treated differently under the law.”

Translation: He’s well aware of all the police brutality b.s. and hate crimes taking place in the U.S. right now and is probably having conversations with AG Lynch.

I was reading an article about PBO’s first visit to Kenya and browsing thru some of the rare pics - and after reading I came across this lighthearted article about David Cameron wanting to be PBO so badly, tweeting a pic after he got re-elected in a similar vein as PBO did. I had a bit of a chuckle, because deep down, we all know all politicians want to be PBO! :)

“Barack Obama has achieved a lot personally and it’s great that he is the president of the United States.

“But I think the biggest benefit that Barack Obama has brought is how he has inspired young people all over the world… and to me that is the huge thing that has come out of the scholarships.”

I asked her why she had followed in her father’s footsteps by setting up her own programme.

“I want to finish what my father started but I want to finish it in a way that brings balance to the leadership in this country.”

It’s probably the best that could be said about Bush. http://piersmorgan.blogs.cnn.com/2012/04/24/his-holiness-the-dalai-lama-on-george-w-bush-as-a-human-being-i-love-him/
