Thanks for posting this event, NW. The White House does such a great job with young thinkers, inventors, scientists, etc. Congrats to COS on first!

Okay ya’ll know I follow all the Dem candidates and this is my monthly update:

Jim Webb is touting a love fest editorial by (wait for it) Joe Lieberman on his website  He somehow thinks that Dems will be impressed by this?????

Bernie is asking for volunteers and there are NO events setup with 100 miles of my home. I couldn’t resist seeing if the Blah people had suddenly realized that he’s “our guy” and were organizing in my state like the BernieBots would have you believe is taking place ALL over the country.

Hillary at this point has the best website that money can buy (because she is winning the race to the bottom for the corporate dollar). She has a half dozen organizing events setup between now and September within 100 miles of my home.

Martin O’Malley does not have a 50 state strategy. He has a 3 state strategy. Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. He is putting ALL his eggs into these three states. He has no organizing events in his home state of Maryland.

    That’s All Folks!!!

        Thank you, Donna.
This summary is as depressing as it could possibly be. An unloveable candidate running a joyless campaign may be our only choice.

Thanks for this, Donna. Why on earth do you suppose O’Malley is focusing on S Carolina? It makes no sense.

It’s the second actual primary. NH then SC and he feels if he can show well in either of those states and do well in the debates where I think he will shine that he will have a real shot.

      gotta ask you Donna…

what do you think the VP will do?

        August 4, 2025 at 4:04 pm

I would have thought that understanding how Citizens United has changed the game when it comes to funding campaigns that if he was going to run he would have thrown his hat into the ring by now. He may still do it but you have to get the money needed to run your campaigns early and because of her front runner status Hillary is soaking up so much of those big dollars. Now some will say that the grassroots can power him to victory but PBO proved in the 2012 campaign that this is no longer a fact. He had to allow PAC’s to supplement (albeit independent) his campaign and the most profound campaign ad of 2012 was not from the campaign but the one done by the SuperPAC Priorities USA going after Romney and Bain Captial. Guess who this PAC is supporting in 2016….Hillary R. Clinton.

So I’m not sure how things will pan out. I don’t know if he is waiting to see if she stumbles badly or if the death of Beau sort of set him back on his heels but I think he will have to make a decision by late September if he plans to run.

        Just my 2cents.

        • 48 prettyfoot58
          August 4, 2025 at 4:43 pm

my concern is that if he is going to run…that he is coming into the contest late…meaning that he will have to catch up….and why all this speculation and waiting…..it takes time to build a campaign….encourage folks….get them involved…build a structure….

          sigh….

my greatest fear is that DEMs will not come out to vote….

          • 49 donna dem 4 obama
            August 4, 2025 at 5:13 pm

That is my fear as well. I have been saying for months that the DNC should be doing something similar to PSA’s with a catchy jingle explaining the importance of voting. The general public simply doesn’t get it.

Ohhhhh, these people thought that they just had to show up.

    • 52 hopefruit2
      August 4, 2025 at 3:42 pm

For all the money, corporate sponsorship, DNC backing and hype, HRC is generating little enthusiasm among voters. Her campaign feels sanitized, artificial and produced. It doesn’t have that organic feel that PBO’s campaigns in 2008/12 had. I’m concerned that her house of cards will crumble at the slightest challenge because there’s nothing of real substance fueling it. :(

Apart from being a woman, there is nothing that she does that is new. She’s so risk averse that she’s sucked all the life out of her run. Nothing is spontaneous or interesting. I guess her big foray into really taking a leap was for her and Bill to go to a U2 concert. LOLz. Just plodding along.

        • 54 hopefruit2
          August 4, 2025 at 4:04 pm

So right about her risk aversion, meta. Le sigh…

          August 4, 2025 at 4:11 pm

This is my “somewhat” objective opinion of her. She is a polished, rehearsed politician. She is not a dumb woman. In fact, Hillary is very smart and accomplished but Meta is right she isn’t spontaneous because she’s not very genuine. Women in general do see her as their great hope to the White House. I’m not sure if its enough to get her elected but that’s what I see at this point that her campaign is counting on. Her rallying millions of women to the polls in 2016. Sigh, Yawn, Sigh!
