Happy Humpday!
JOJO! JoJo! jojo!!!
You up there on FIRST - YAY!!!!!
Thank you GGail and Judith :) :)
Yippee for JoJo!
Judith, do you think there were 28,000 people to hear the BS in Portland the other day?? I am being skewered as a liar over on the stupider than ever FB, for saying I’d read 8,000. Some really sick people spewing hate already.. this could get ugly and it’s only 2015!
Yes, MP, there were 19,000 seated in the Moda Center and 9,000 more who didn’t fit in who watched on auxiliary screens. Almost all of them were white, but Bernie did have his new AA communications director start off the event by speaking about the need to listen to BLM. I did not attend but had a couple of friends who did. They are getting false hope that Bernie is a viable nominee from big crowds in far lefty places on the West Coast. In my humble opinion, Bernie cannot and doesn’t care to re-activate the Obama coalition by respecting and supporting all that our President has achieved. We know from the midterms that when candidates distance themselves from PBO, they usually lose. We cannot afford to lose the White House.
Then Senator Obama commanded a crowd of 75,000 folks from every race, and background possible…..Bernie seems to be attracting just a small portion of that elector….Senator Obama’s/President Obama’s rallies were and are always very diverse….Bernie ain’t got that at all. I do not see Me in his audience!!!!
“Then Senator Obama commanded a crowd of 75,000+ folks”
tell it LynnyD. Those were large crowds. Bernie’s meh!
Furthermore, everything he says is alresdy part of the Democratic platform, I think, in one way or another. Here is an interesting article by Nate Silver: http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/the-bernie-sanders-surge-appears-to-be-over/
And this one: http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/what-to-make-of-the-bernie-sanders-surge/
Silver seems to be pro-Clinton, but I think his analysis of what is going on is good.
Howdy TOD Family….Furst? meeeee?
Thank you NW for stepping into Chips shoes while she is on vacay….also a TY to our other TOD posts preparers. NW you are just
so great in letting us know daily the good, the bad, the ugly that’s going on in the world as well as the wonderful things our PBO, his administration, FLOTUS, VP and Dr. Biden are doing for all of us. Thank you!
Congrats, Jojo!
We can see the real beauty in the threesome huddled together in the first pic.
Thanks, Ms NerdyW!
Thank you so very much, Jojo.
Congrats jojo :)
Such important, memorable photos NW!!! Thank you!!!
Everyone, be sure to listen to the video in this tweet ….
Thanks vc and bobfr…….so sorry to hear about President Carter’s bout with cancer. I pray he is able to fight it and get it into remission. He’s lived a full life and has done a lot of good as President and as an ordinary citizen.
I listened, thanks Bobfr.
I hope with all my heart that, small though it is, this is an indication ‘the times they are a-changing’.
TY VC.
Daily we are seeing, from many dimensions, the realization that #DiplomacyHasConsequences in substantive, positive developments.
What far to many Americans have failed to grasp is that President Rouhani was elected not by a pack of warmongers but by a population, largely young, that wants peace and an opportunity to thrive - not die on some battlefield or be blown out of bed as happened to hundreds and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis.

I’m old enough to remember when the press did its job and reported this kind of information. We do our best on twitter and social media, but the role of a robust, honest press is sorely missed.
not surprised that this comes from Bill Press….
gm from my world. Is anyone else having trouble with the last thread - I can’t read the comments with firefox - locks up the computer - have to crash it.
Congrats on first jojo
99ts, how goes the downsizing, and prepping to move? Must feel like it is very close upon you and Mr 99ts! Thinking of you both!

No one tell Chips…… but her Wayne might be coming to LAFC.

Oh good heavens, hope she doesn’t hear this until after her hols!!
Oh, is Wayne already ready for the retirement league?
//runs
Now Tally, you’ve got to take this back (until next week…maybe)! You cannot leave this here on the eve of Chips’ birthday!!!
Well…. it *IS* from a tabloid after all……
Phew! Good! She won’t believe it then - especially if you bring her a large enough gift tomorrow to hide the comment. ;) ;)
Do you think we will party down on the 32M hits right on the CIC-TOD’s 23rd b’day?? That would be quite a hoot!
Sadly I’m not good at guesstimating - I leave that to Japa. :D :D :D
BTW, I think it’ll be her
42nd (+2o)24th birthday. Or maybe the 23rd/4th anniversary of her 37th birthday? [ We probably should get someone (Amk? DannyO) to administer some truth serum to her, one of these days.]yeah, let’s ‘inject’ the poor innocent boyz into what’s her age debate.
you’re mean to the bone, aren’t ya?
Hi! There you are reading other people’s mail again. Shame on you!
caught, red-handed, eh? you should advise her highness.
Just checked; my hands are not red! /whisper - Did you pick up her highness’ present when you were traveling? What’d ya get her?/
what, the one I gave her last year wasn’t good enough ….. for another three more years?
You didn’t give her a gift last year!
I did too.

Would Chuck Schumer have put himself out in front against the Iran Deal if he didn’t think He Had the votes?
Honest question.
We are all assuming that we will get the 34 Senate yes votes we need to sustain PBO’s veto.
Chuck is in the Senate.
Does he have no votes locked up that we don’t know about?
2 things Vicki - both Dem and GOP Senators have stated publicly in the past few days that a veto will be sustained, moreover I don’t think Chuckie or anyone else in the Senate anticipated the blow-back he’s been getting, 24/7 with no sign of abating, since he announced his decision during Thursday evening’s GOP debate.
That blow-back will intensify as more and more actual experts, military leaders, members of the Jewish community - US, Israeli, Iranian - speak out between now and the time of the initial vote.
It’s up to us to do all we can to bring the heat … bbl ….
Before departing, I should also note the reality that the sanction regime is already disintegrating.
So, by Sept Senate/House vote time the choice is going to be:
1 enable Iran to fast track to a bomb with no sanction regime;
2 or implement & rigorously enforce the Joint Plan of Action signed by P5+1 and Iran in July.
It really is that straightforward.
Exactly, Bob.
Only one side of Congress has to sustain the veto and Nancy Pelosi said she has the votes.
If the House holds, the Senate won’t matter.
Yes to Linda and Bob. I know these things you said are true.
Remember this stupidity ?
“Retired Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Stephen Cheney, CEO of the American Security Project, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank, disagreed that a nuclear-free U.K. would damage the country’s standing among NATO allies.
“I don’t think it would change it one bit. Not in the least. We’re all NATO allies. We all deploy together, we all go to Iraq, Afghanistan,” he said. “The fact that you don’t have a [nuclear] submarine … won’t make a bit of difference.”
Cheney called the Trident program “an absolute waste of money” and said funds allocated toward it could be better used for other government programs.
“The chances of Great Britain ever using those nuclear weapons are zero, and for them to go through the inordinate expense of maintaining them, fleeting them, putting them out to sea, it’s just ridiculous,” he said. “Who are they deterring? The Russians? I don’t think the Russians have any designs on Great Britain. The Chinese? I don’t think so. The French? Israel? India? Pakistan?””
As you will read in the article, the SNP are definitely rocking the boat ….
Getting rid of Trident was one of the 2 top planks of the SNP. The other was ending austerity. Not surprising they won 56 out of 59 seats in Parliament.
Corbyn is shaking up the UK bigtime.
Wow…
Bob..none of these kind of discussions would be happening if not for the Iran Nuclear Deal…..
That’s our President & First Family - always thinking of others.
I have said my prayer for former President Carter.
Sorry to hear about President Carter.
just heard this on the radio. Sending positive thoughts and prayers.
We have progressive thinking leaders here in California. Look what the Mayor of LA is trying…
Black-balled: LA tries spherical scheme to block evaporation amid drought
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/08/12/black-balled-la-tries-spherical-scheme-to-block-evaporation-amid-drought/
Is a bevy of black balls – 96 million to be exact – a crucial solution in helping California manage its calamitous drought?
On Monday, Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti deployed the final 20,000 of the 96 million “shade balls” onto the surface of the city’s 175-acre, Sylmar-based reservoir, completing the final stage of the $34.5 million Los Angeles Department of Water (LADWP) attempt to protect the region’s water quality.
“In the midst of California’s historic drought, it takes bold ingenuity to maximize my goals for water conservation,” Garcetti said, claiming that the initiative saves taxpayers millions. “This effort is emblematic of the kind of the creative thinking we need to meet those challenges.”
“Low-tech solutions to saving water can be just as effective as more complex ones.”
- Caitrin Phillips Chappelle, Public Policy Institute of California
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is the first utility company to utilize such technology for water quality protection. Officals claim the small, plastic balls will save 300 million gallons of water from evaporating annually, stemming about 90 percent of the losses that occur through the natural process.
Maybe they should get going - REALLY FAST - on the seawater desalination plants, 24/7, full workforce, shifts all day and all night. The sooner the better. Plastic balls, as if we don’t have enough plastic waste out in the oceans of the planet.
Howdy folks.
Been hanging on TPV, keeping that place going in Spandan’s absence. All of a sudden I’m running a political blog. Kind of nice.
Good for you, LL!!
And a damned fine job you’re doing, LL
Per comments above in response to Vicki, I decided to, as they say, ‘cut to the chase’ re: #IranDeal
That’s it folks. That’s the only real decision the Senate & House get to make. Everything else is ‘hot air’ almost entirely due to the fact that the fella who led the most complex and successful diplomatic negotiation and successful outcome happens to be BLACK.
back to work …
REMEMBER EVERYONE…Tomorrow is Ms. Chip’s birthday!
Another beautiful post, NW.
Justice Sotomayor. “Thanks Obama” :)
JoJotheCat ;) Au :star: looks Great on you!
Chips…..I hope you are having a Greater Vacation. Hi Danny.
Old Billy Joel is a Papa again in his 60s ;)
Oh wow! Like the Pointers Sisters, I’m so excited. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish him and his new family well.
This will be more influential than Retired Generals/Nuke Scientists because this is a signal to D’s about $$$$$ …even signal Schumer out in their ad.
“The letter warns that killing the deal, as many Republican lawmakers have pledged to do — and even one Democrat, New York Senator Chuck Schumer, considered one of Congress’ most influential Jewish voices — would be a “tragic mistake.” Among the seven lead signatories are billionaire philanthropist Eli Broad; Walt Disney Concert Hall architect Frank Gehry; and legendary TV writer-producer Norman Lear. Other signatories include Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner; film producers Lawrence Bender and Mike Medavoy; UTA agent Peter Benedek; WME agent Rick Rosen; Game of Thrones executive producer Carolyn Strauss; Matthew Velkes, COO of Village Roadshow; and TV director Daniel Attias.”I just felt that some of the mainstream Jewish organizations weren’t speaking on behalf of a large segment of the community that has a different point of view,” Velkes tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding that LA’s Jewish population is “as diverse a community as one might imagine.” …continued
This warms my heart. Pure naches (joy, pride.)
Ditto, Vicki!
This is wonderful. I hope there is complete coverage of the festivities in Cuba.
With our media, who know how much we will see.
There’s California representing Forward Change, again. Thank you Rep. Karen Bass <3
If Only many Texans started to Vote and regularly…….TX will be like CA in one election cycle.
The Main Reason………..Trump’s antics resonates with GOPer base.
GE, TOD! Nerdy, you’ve been amazing this week. Last night’s post broke my heart. My Mom fought the battle in hope that I wouldn’t have to; I fought in hope that your generation wouldn’t have to; yet, here we are. I pray that your generation will be the last to witness the ugly vestiges of AmeriKKKa’s original sin…
Congrats, Leanne! This is the state district next door to me. We were able to snatch a republican seat in last Tuesday’s special election…
Thank you, jazziz2.
We continue to fight and hope on.
THANK YOU.
YAY California!
Any tweets or phone calls from any Republicans? Do any of them have the decent to do that? Or they are afraid their racists hatred base will be mad with them.
Anyone have the decency to do that?
Was this already posted today?? Pretty good question.. :) IOKIYAR

Hello, HZ.

HZ, we all continue to remember you in our daily meditations. You are special to all of us!!!
NO words….No Good words…
http://www.alternet.org/environment/beyond-unacceptable-judge-oks-uranium-mine-grand-canyon
In June, the Grand Canyon was named one of the “Most Endangered Places” in America by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. But the designation came just two months too late to possibly influence U.S. District Court Judge David Campbell. In April, he denied a request by the Havasupai tribe and a coalition of conservation groups to halt new uranium mining next to Grand Canyon National Park, just six miles from the Grand Canyon’s South Rim.
It will never be the same again…bit by bit, they will ruin this Natural Wonder of the World….
Good evening Legend Nerdy & TOD!
Good evening, HF. :)
HRC is trying too hard….waaaaaay too hard. PBO appealed to young people naturally, his stuff wasn’t affected, fake and bordering on the ridiculous.
Oh boy. Aren’t some PBO campaign staff supposed to be working for her highness now? They gave nod to this insensitive nonsense?
Given the third rate ridiculous opposition, pity the dems choose to cast their lot with her.
New post.
