You know what, Chips? You can go !!!&****%%%&&**** yourself for that insulting and vomit inducing “gift” you “bought” for me. It is currently being burned to ashes by the fires of hell. :D
Hi all. Tomorrow is our Fiesta Latina and I am now an officially crazed person, obsessing over details and fearing I’ve forgotten something. ‘To do’ lists are posted everywhere and they never seem to get shorter. The good news is the weather forecast is good and lots of people seem excited about attending. Wish you could all be there to taste the food varieties we’ve got-Mexican, Puerto Rican , Dominican, plus a pig roast and good old American hot dogs. Everyone will be dancing to a Latin beat.
JG, I’m sure you, hubby, fellow committee members and organizers have outdone yourselves! Wishing you all a wonderful and extremely enjoyable Fiesta Latina day! ;) Two more sleeps and it’ll be over….until next time.
Thank you so much for all the work you have been doing for your Fiesta Latina, JackieG. Sounds like it’s going to be great. I hope you can take it easy after this and that your health is improving. I’ll continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
I just can’t tell you how proud I am of you and this event you’ve put together. It grew out of a simple idea of building an inclusive community and now look at how it’s grown!! I really wish I could be there not only to help but to join in all the fun. You’re simply amazing jackieg, and I thank you for all you’ve done for the Latino community.
I’ll post a second ‘WELCOME HOME {{{{{Chips}}}}’ and an expression of total gratitude to NW for all you’ve done to keep TOD humming along during Chips much deserved holiday!!!
Also, this ….
Rarely, as in almost never, have I recommended that our TOD community spend nearly an hour watching (or reading) anything. However, after considerable thought how to give all of you a little glimpse into what not only motivates me, but is core to my ‘day job,’ I’ve decided to share a particular video that will provide you that context ….
Each of you experience everyday, thanks in no small part to Chips and NW, the value of the ‘social commons’m - so that part of Jeremy’s message will be ‘innate’ to you.
Just how essential the ‘social commons’ is to the narrative of a ‘collaborative commons’ leveraging an ‘internet of things,’ as well as an ‘energy internet’ and the now globally pervasive ‘information internet’ should be readily obvious as you listen to a presentation he gave at Google last year.
The 3rd Industrial Revolution is a pragmatic process that we either do everything we possibly can to achieve, or we can kiss our species (and countless others) good bye.
Nothing about what you are going to hear in the video or what, way more importantly, is being done by Jeremy and thousands of others is ‘nirvana’ or ‘utopian’ oriented.
It’s hard, cold, fact based efforts to revert climate change and develop an equitable collaborative economy.
We actually have the technology, the tools. Do we have the will is the open question.
I’m hopeful - mainly because of the millennials, and what we’ve been witnessing in communities throughout Germany, India, Sub Saharan Africa, and South America.
For sure, we already have plenty of evidence why we better do our ‘day jobs’ really, really well!! That is particularly the case for us ‘old folk’ because it is our responsibility to do everything we can, every minute of every day, not to bequeath catastrophe to those under 20, and all the generations that could well be born into a cauldron of water scarcity, famine and intractable war in a nuclear armed planet.
Ahh, Chips, glad to see you’re easing back from your vacation. Danny’s going to have a hard time adjusting to his old routine after his high old time at the beach. Take it slow. Re-entry after vacation is always painful.
I heard kathie Lee Grifford praise Donald Trump to the sky. I couldn’t watch her talking about what a friend he can be. I turn the tv off. And told myself I would not watch her anymore.
This is the same Trump who said Barack Obama was not an American. The same Trump who said Mexicans were rapists and killers. Don’t forget ‘anchor babies’. I don’t want a racists friend like Trump.
Welcome back Ms Chips. Danny seems to have found his little bit of heaven on that there deserted beach - my sort of heaven - the places development left behind.
Lovely to see you as well, Chips! …don’t worry everyone behaved while you were gone….and I think Nerdy has developed carpel tunnel (I don’t know which is worse for her…. Chelsea’s start to EPL…or the arrival of Memphis :???:
Van Gaal is confident @Memphis can handle the spotlight after a fine display v Club Brugge: http://t.co/6ZSEHaG6B1 pic.twitter.com/bBAzZSp6I9
Really! Maybe I’ll run down and see my Auntie; she lives a stone’s throw away from the VP… Will the TOD family raise my bail if the recon mission fails???
Very encouraging.
Think about this:
Bernie has virtually no Democratic endorsements.
Hillary has the same ones she had a year or more ago—Claire McCaskill, Jennifer Granholm, etc.
Who has Bill de Blasio endorsed?
Who has Harry Reid endorsed?
As far as I know Kanye and Kim are taking selfies with HRC. Otherwise, where are the Legions that turned out for Senator Obama?
My point is that plenty of people in public life and privately are waiting and hoping and, possibly hedging their bets.
If VP Biden enters the race it will be very eye-opening for the nay-sayers.
There are plenty of naysayers but you’re right. There are legions who love him and are willing to work hard for him. I’m IN, uphill battle or not. He’s a winner.
Vicki your post makes a whole lot of sense. I was reading donna’s earlier post and I agree that HRC just seems too disorganized and unfocused to sustain any kind of effective campaign to the WH. At this point it’s VP Biden or BUST.
Crossing fingers and toes that VP Joe *does* wade in because now that MSM is starting to highlight his decision making, should he decided not to participate I’m sure they’d be happy to spread the myth that HRC is too *strong*.
BTW, Gx2, deliver your own message! Nobody would have taken your place….I think…. if you had come back yourself to say the gate was open. Geesh! Fast stepping on your part though. :D
Good way to be practical, LPlains. RitaC mentioned this in the previous thread AND provided the twitter handles for some of the laggards.

TOD Family, there are a number of Democrats in CA who are still undecided about supporting the Iran Nuclear Deal. Need your help in pushing them for support. I just tweeted to all of them. Here’s a sample that you can use, or create your own…
Be a leader for peace and diplomacy, @CongressmanRuiz, not war. Say Yes to the #IranNuclearDeal ! http://t.co/X9BTNQpHDc

Here are the twitter handles of all the undecided Reps:
Welcome back Chips and Danny. I hope you had a wonderful and restful time.
As I said in the last thread, Rep Huffman has been working hard to free Jason Rezaian, WaPo Journalist in prison in Iran, and whose family are constituents of Rep Huffman. The court decision is to be handed down any day now, and I’m sure once it is that Rep Huffman will start focusing on the Iran deal.
FAST FOWARD: Shouldn’t we start planning TOD Gala when POB leaves that cesspool of haters in D.C.
I think D.C. would be a great place to meet if nothing else but to let the world know how much we appreciate this man who included us all with hope and change. And to let him know that we are grateful, we will always have his back as he passes the baton to Biden.
I am trying to get to a WH tour before they leave.
No, I don’t think he’s going to change his mind. I got a response from him today after I told him I was disappointed in him voting no and why. When he brought up listening to Bibi talk to Congress, I was so angry I didn’t bother reading anymore, but no he will not be getting amy more money from me.
However, it does look like Nancy will have the votes in congress anyway.
Terri, I said this earlier and I really do believe it - the reaction of Congress members to this deal really shows who they are. Are they people (representatives/leaders) who can evaluate the pros and cons of an issue and come to a rational conclusion based on the facts and the best interests of the country as a whole, or are they people who can be easily bought. To me this is fairly straightforward, and it’s been underlined by the fact the Obama Admin has made every effort to be accessible and have their experts, as well as outside experts, be available to respond to their ‘concerns’. There should be nothing partisan about this particular issue. I am embarrassed for any senator/representative who pretends that s/he has read the deal in its entirety, listened to the experts and then chooses to say ‘no’ for any of the lame reasons they give. To me it simply shows s/he is not as smart as s/he thinks.
#IranDeal is actually a great barometer to assess the 'sanity' of each Congress member + his/her commitment to US. https://t.co/S7rTHLDNtG
What’s sad and sickening about this is I expected all the republicans to be against this, but when I see democrats say that there’s a better deal that can get negotiated and we can’t trust Iran despite the safeguards in the agreement. it makes no sense. Especially after all we have learned about the disaster in Iraq.
You are right it makes no sense, so my only explanation is to accept that they are either poor reasoners, or they lack character (i.e. have been bought by AIPAC).

JackieG, I wish you nothing but blue skies and good fun tomorrow. Get a couple of those salsa moves down too :-)
JG, I’m sure you, hubby, fellow committee members and organizers have outdone yourselves! Wishing you all a wonderful and extremely enjoyable Fiesta Latina day! ;) Two more sleeps and it’ll be over….until next time.

Thank you, sj. Two more medical tests loom on the horizon-one is on Monday- but I’m putting that anxiety aside until after tomorrow.
Hugs to you, jackieG!!!!!

He’s a stand up guy, that’s for sure. SO grateful.
Unfortunately, my congressman, Donald Norcross, seems to be committed to Bibi!
If he doesn’t change his mind in time, I hope you’ll remember this during the next election and direct him to Bibi when he solicits your vote.
No, I don’t think he’s going to change his mind. I got a response from him today after I told him I was disappointed in him voting no and why. When he brought up listening to Bibi talk to Congress, I was so angry I didn’t bother reading anymore, but no he will not be getting amy more money from me.
