As someone that has watched the movie Wall Street I and Wall Street II: Money Never Sleeps, numerous times, I am positive that this Wall Street setback will be but a distant memory. As look forward to the upcoming Football season lets us despair not, for the sweet smell of a freshly cut end zone in just over the horizon

Good morning TOD. Congrats on furst Don. I agree with you. I have followed the market for many years and it is not anything unusual, and certainly not like 2008.

Josh Earnest just now at the WHDB sounding very bullish on VP Biden. Just a couple things he said:

President Obama stands by his assertion that choosing Joe Biden as his VP is the best decision he’s ever made.
VP Biden, having won a 2 times - no one has a better idea of how to run a successful national campaign

That first sentence, meta, was a shot across the bow. Damn right he’s bullish, VP Biden is a person of character.

I hope we can find some video of this because I loved Josh’s whole demeanor as he volleyed these questions from Major Garrett with glee.

The WHPC are still peppering The Voice on HRC, VP Biden…..their desperation to Divide and Conquer.
The Voice is One Tough, Stable, Spokesman.
      Bravo, Mr Earnest.
It is looking more like VP Biden wants to run for the Presidency. It looks like he will…….a change from my analysis over the years…….Dems are about to be more divided now……that is Not going to be good for the party in 2016.
I am hoping that the rancorous underline built in Bidenism, Clintonism and Bernism are intellectually conducted or the GOP wins in 2016.
      My Biggest FEAR.

It’s a primary election, Nena. This is the democratic process at work. And remember, we had a very rigorous division in 2008 and we still won BIG.

        • 22 Nena20409
          August 24, 2025 at 4:24 pm

Yes in did it is the Primary. It is also The Dem HISTORY at work here……1968…….1972…..1980…..2000…..those where primary contested elections. Now in 2008…..it almost went that way too. Remember the PUMAs and how that almost went off the rails? I see Tribal Clickism at work here……..Bernites, Clintonites and Bidenites………It Scars me. Dems would rather argue to be proven RIGHT than to coalesce and Win…….The History of the Democrats are numerous to deny. To use just one antidote, the 2008 election is not satisfactory to my taste.

Finally got around to reading the article, from a previous post, on what young feminists think of Hillary Clinton, http://www.nationaljournal.com/magazine/2016-hillary-clinton-feminists-20150515 The author interviewed 47 young 20 somethings about their views on feminism and on Hillary Clinton. I found this sentence, along with quite a few others, to be quite enlightening:

“A vote for Clinton, many said, would be a vote by default, because no other viable progressive alternatives—female or male—are in the offing.”

I will be waiting with much anticipation for VP Biden’s announcement. I think he could pick up the young people’s vote, yes? :-)

Isn’t the National Journal a RW rag? they may have cherrypicked their “feminists”. That’s not to say there aren’t a lot of issues surrounding Hillary.

New York white supremacist was convicted by a federal jury on Friday of plotting to use a remote-controlled radiation device he called “Hiroshima on a light switch” to harm Muslims and President Barack Obama.

After less than three hours of deliberation in US district court in Albany, New York, the jury unanimously found Glendon Scott Crawford guilty of all three charges against him.

Crawford, 51, wearing a gray suit and eyeglasses, showed no emotion as judge Gary Sharpe read the verdict.

Black women ‘humiliated’ after getting kicked off Napa Valley Wine Train
    4:03 pm, Sunday, August 23, 2025

What started as a joyous ride through wine county Saturday afternoon turned into a “humiliating” experience for 11 African American women, who said they were booted off the Napa Valley Wine Train for laughing and talking too loud.

Accounts and pictures of the episode have been spreading across social media, spawning the hashtag #LaughingWhileBlack while the women involved have questioned whether they would have been treated differently if they were not African American.

“It was humiliating. I’m really offended to be quite honest,” said 47-year-old Lisa Johnson, who was among Saturday’s group. “I felt like it was a racist attack on us. I feel like we were being singled out.”

So to the core of Reagan. I read Rachel Maddow’s book that sheds such a bright light on Saint-Reagan. I mean if only people would search for the truth rather than swim in partisan politics, particularly when it comes to President Reagan. Yet again it was another era. Now we have Teabaggers and Trump devotees.

      Direct article

      http://m.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2015/08/president-obama-anti-lame-duck

I rarely care for his movies, but I like what he had to say here:

“Quentin Tarantino really likes President Obama:

You supported Obama. How do you think he’s done?

I think he’s fantastic. He’s my favorite president, hands down, of my lifetime. He’s been awesome this past year. Especially the rapid, one-after-another-after-another-after-another aspect of it. It’s almost like take no prisoners. His he-doesn’t-give-a-shit attitude has just been so cool. Everyone always talks about these lame-duck presidents. I’ve never seen anybody end with this kind of ending. All the people who supported him along the way that questioned this or that and the other? All of their questions are being answered now…”

“… In no particular order, here’s a baker’s dozen list of his major actions in the nine months since the 2014 midterm elections:

      Normalized relations with Cuba.
Signed a climate deal with China.
      Issued new EPA ozone rules.
Successfully argued in favor of same-sex marriage before the Supreme Court.
Put in place economic sanctions on Russia that have Vladimir Putin reeling.
Pressured the FCC to approve net neutrality rules.
      Issued new EPA coal regulations.
Issued an executive order on immigration.
Got fast-track authority for TPP and seems poised to pass it.
Signed a nuclear deal with Iran and appears on track to get it passed.
Won yet another Supreme Court case keeping Obamacare intact.
Issued new rules that increase the number of “managers” who qualify for overtime pay.
Presided over the birth of twin giant panda babies at Washington DC’s National Zoo.”
