Beautiful moments with our beloved First Family. Makes me so happy to think of them away, on break, having fun, being at ease, being together all day and all night. But I’m selfishly glad that they are back home in the White House, where they belong, and thrive.

      Good morning JoJo!!!
Lovely of you to post our group photo from last night. We had such a warm and wonderful time with MtMarilyn, her patient and endearing husband who tolerated all of our noisy conversations and they even brought along a friend for us to meet, who happens to be very good people. We spent three glorious hours talking, laughing and sharing. Marilyn is such a warm person that if you don’t like her instantly, then you don’t have a heart <3

Thank you Marilyn for your taking the time and the desire to visit with us and for the awesome books plus the Montana Gin and Montana Vodka. We will definitely try those out during our September Birthday bash for JoJo's birthday.

LL, Marilyn brought a couple of books for you that she would like you to share with your Library branch. We'll be sure to give them to you at our September get-together.

Marilyn is the type of person that you wish lived near you. I miss her already. I wish you and your husband safe travels back home. <3

Scott Walker’s longtime chief of staff Eric Schutt is stepping down, the governor’s office announced.
Schutt is leaving “to pursue other opportunities and to spend more time with family,” Walker’s office said in a statement. It did not say what those opportunities are.
Schutt played a key role in helping pass Walker’s three state budgets and his legislation repealing collective bargaining for most public employees.
Walker’s campaign has suffered from declining poll numbers, a weak performance in the first GOP presidential debate, ongoing scandals, and growing national awareness of his economic failures as governor. A recent Marquette University Law School poll found Walker losing to Hillary Clinton among Wisconsin voters in a theoretical matchup. The poll also showed Walker’s favorability rating falling below 40 percent for the first time.

Walker is one sad, corrupt sack that I would love to see drop out of the race in a humiliating defeat. The Koch Brothers poured truckloads of money into this guy and got the state of Wisconsin. They want to buy the US, but have chosen the wrong jackass as their vehicle.

The stock market crash of 1987 is perhaps more remarkable than the more recent Tech Bubble or Financial Crisis Crashes and singular even today because of the fact that it was and still is the largest one-day change in market history. The Dow Industrial Average lost 22.6% on October 19th 1987, or $500 billion dollars.

Reagan did NOT say anything. All he did was send out a bogus statement.

The President {{Ronald Reagan}} has watched today with concern the continued drop in the stock market….consultations confirm our view that the underlying economy remains sound. We are in the longest peacetime expansion in history. Employment is at the highest level ever. Manufacturing output is up. The trade deficit, when adjusted for changes in currencies, is steadily improving. And, as the chairman of the Federal Reserve has recently stated, there is no evidence of a resurgence of inflation in the United States.” - White House Statement released on October 19, 2025

What is happening today is chump change ……

        According to Wikipedia

“The minority leader is often assisted in his/her role by one or more whips, whose job is to enforce party discipline on votes deemed to be crucial by the party leadership and to ensure that members do not vote against the position of the party leaders.

        *** Some votes are deemed to be so crucial as to lead to punitive measures (such as demotion from choice committee assignments) for members who violate the party line;

decisions such as these are often made by the minority leader in conjunction with other senior party leaders.”

I think we could use this point, in the second sentence above (***), in our campaign to keep Schumer from becoming Minority Leader. The new Minority Leader will be elected by the Senate Democratic Caucus. So we should be campaigning for our position with every single Democratic Senator when the time comes.

[…..] After Danai Gurira’s play “Eclipsed” opened at Yale Repertory Theatre in the fall of 2009 under the direction of Liesl Tommy, it won an NAACP Award, the Helen Hayes Award for Best New Play and the Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Production of a Play.

And yet, Ms. Tommy and Ms. Gurira couldn’t find a New York theater willing to produce the story, which chronicles the struggles of four women held captive by a rebel-faction leader in the second Liberian civil war. […..]

“What compels me about ‘Eclipsed,’ ” Ms. Nyong’o said, “is that though it is a story about women who have lost their physical power to bondage, it is also an exploration of how they seek and find power within their restricted circumstances. This is not a story about victims; it’s a story about survivors.”

    Letter from the White House

I was in the first company of Marines to enter Baghdad in 2003.

As a combat veteran, I know the cost of war. It is something I still carry with me today in the U.S. House of Representatives, where I have the privilege of representing the people of northeast Massachusetts. And I am reminded of it every time the questions of war and peace come before Congress.

In September, we will face that question once more when members of Congress consider whether or not to support the Iran nuclear agreement.

During the Iraq war, I saw the weapons and influence of the Iranian regime, and I deeply understand the threat Iran poses to America and our allies like Israel. That is why it is so crucial that the international community works together to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

After careful deliberation, I believe the Iran nuclear deal does just that. You can investigate the deal yourself here.

Let me be clear: I do not, and we should not, trust Iran to comply with this agreement. But this deal is not based on trust. It’s based on enforceable verification measures that are comprehensive enough to be effective. Inspections will also give us greater intelligence on Iran than we have today.

I respect that some, including a few veterans, may disagree and feel that there is the possibility of a “better deal” out there. To them I say, what’s the alternative?

You may hear of two: increasing our sanctions regime or pursuing a military option. Here’s why those are just not acceptable:

Increasing sanctions — let alone maintaining them — would only work if the international coalition behind the sanctions holds together. But our allies have been clear: They agreed to sanctions to force Iran to the negotiating table to secure a deal like the one we now have. If we walk away from that deal, we walk away alone.

The other option, taking military action against Iran, would once again imperil the lives of Americans to achieve much less than this deal achieves by diplomatic means. Military action would only set Iran’s nuclear program back a few years at most, reaffirm their pursuit of a nuclear weapon, and drive the program underground.

Both these options leave us worse off than we are under the terms of the Iran deal. The fact is there is no “better deal” that will prevent Iran from building a bomb.

No deal is perfect, especially one negotiated among adversaries. But, in our ongoing confrontation with a great threat to world peace, we have found the best available option by peaceful means rather than pursuing a worse option through war. It is for these reasons that I support the Iran deal.

And if you read it for yourself, I feel you will too.

    Thank you,

    Seth Moulton
    Member of Congress
    @sethmoulton

  26. 115 Vicki
    August 24, 2025 at 12:35 pm

I don’t know if anyone else has made this connection but the Iran Deal vote is connected to the will Biden run? who stands with HRC? questions.

It is true that Hillary has voiced support for the Iran deal. Not loudly or often, but she has said the right things.

Nevertheless, many of her richest supporters stand with Bibi and Chuck.

The intersection that caught my attention is the number of Hillary supporting Senators who voted Yes. Jeanne Shaheen and Kirsten Gillibrand, early on, and Claire McCaskill later.

I think the WillBidenRun ship has left the dock.

With Trump soaring, the media mogul suggested the former New York mayor as a worthy rival candidate but was quick to point out he wouldn’t vote for him.

Rupert Murdoch wants former New York mayor and media billionaire Michael Bloomberg to run for president.

With Donald Trump’s candidature becoming a serious proposition, Murdoch tweeted on Sunday that it was time for “next billionaire candidate” in Bloomberg who he described as New York’s “greatest mayor.”

The executive co-chairman of 21st Century Fox and executive chairman of News Corp went on to say that though he disagreed with a lot of what Bloomberg did in office, particularly the “nannystate” policies, he said that he was a great “philanthropic executive” that, along with Rudy Giuliani, made New York city the greatest.
