Morning, Chips. Congratulations Allison. Love these pics of PBO with his niece. She is such a cutie. More doctor appointments today-boy is this stuff getting old!!! I mentioned last week that I sent away for FIVE ‘Joe Biden for President buttons’ and am all ready to go should he announce. We will all need to brace for impact, though. I mentioned my support for Biden to some fellow Democrats as we were setting up for the siesta on Saturday and buckets of criticism rained down on me from Hillary supporters. I finally had to remind them that we need to respect each others’ choices and that competition was actually a positive thing. The howls are really going to be loud when the ‘protect’ Hillary forces come out in force when/if the Biden announcement comes.

Among the top concerns about a proposed oil pipeline across Iowa is whether a private company should be able to get access to private land for its construction, according to a state board that says it has received some 3,700 objections to the project.
The Iowa Utilities Board said in a report filed Friday that the objections started coming in electronically shortly after plans for the proposed pipeline were made public in November.

Cory Booker’s phones need to be lit up. Why he’s even thinking about this deal so long is screwed up…

    http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2015/08/christie_lobbying_booker_on_iran_with_adelsons_hel.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Gov. Chris Christie vowed last month to lobby U.S. Sen. Cory Booker to oppose an agreement curbing Iran’s nuclear program for more than a decade in exchange for relaxing economic sanctions.

On Tuesday, he will do just that.

Christie, a candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, is to appear at Rutgers University in New Brunswick to urge Booker (D-N.J.) and the two other undecided members of the New Jersey congressional delegation to oppose the deal championed by President Obama.

Scheduled to join Christie at the press conference are Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, founder of the World Values Network; Ben Chouake, president of the pro-Israel political action committee NORPAC; and Rabbi Shalom Baum of Congregation Keter Torah in Teaneck, president of the Rabbinical Council of America, the group of Orthodox rabbis.

My Nigeria’ - 6-Part Al Jazeera Documentary Series on Human Stories of Africa’s Leading Economy - Debuts Today

For those of you who have access
to Al Jazeera English… here are details on a new documentary series premiering today, that you might be interested in checking out. And for those without access to the network, I’m told by Al Jazeera that the individual episodes will be made available online for us to share; so when that happens, I’ll publish them here. In the meantime, below you’ll find a preview of what’s coming…

Premiering on Al Jazeera English today, August 24, 2015,
“My Nigeria” is a series of six half-hour documentaries telling the
human story and pulsing with the energy of Africa’s leading economy.

Fromstand up-comedian Basketmouth to Nollywood star turned politician Kate Henshaw, from ICT expert Gbenga Sesan to fashion designer Deola Sagoe, from football coach Femi Bamigboye to female mechanic Sandra Aguebor, each film focuses on one central character, who invites us into their world, sharing their story in their own words.

    http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2015/08/25/3694369/conservative-gun-free-zones/

“Get rid of gun free zones,” Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump tweeted after a gunman massacred five in Chattanooga last month. “Gun-free zones an easy target for killers” an opinion headline on Fox News read after a white supremacist shot up a black South Carolina church and killed nine. Conservative sites also blamed gun-free zones after massacres at multiple movie theaters and other shootings.
If conservatives are so convinced that gun-free zones attract killers, then why do so many conservative places and events ban guns?
Across the country, from conservative confabs to Republican presidential libraries and even to gun shows, loaded weapons are frequently prohibited. When an explanation is given, the reason is invariably for the safety of visitors.
Here is a list of some of those conservative places that ban loaded guns:

Someone needs to ask STUMP (as dumb as a…) if he would allow guns at his rallies? My guess is NO because conservatives are stupid and dangerous. I do not go to theatres anymore because of the stupid crazies allowed to have guns.

Lynn Whitfield, Merle Dandridge and Desiree Ross Cast in OWN’s Church Drama, ‘Greenleaf’

Lynn Whitfield, Merle Dandridge and Desiree Ross are the first actors to be cast in OWN’s upcoming original scripted drama series
    “Greenleaf.”

First announced last month, OWN has given a
straight-to-series order for what it calls a megachurch drama, which
will unfold over a 13-episode season.

The project comes from Craig Wright (“Six Feet Under,” “Lost”), and
will follow “the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their
sprawling Memphis megachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful. Greenleaf described is the center of the community for the thousands of predominantly African-American members who attend services there. But beneath its steeple lies a den of iniquity — greed, adultery, sibling rivalry and conflicting values.”

Whitfield has been cast to play Bishop Greenleaf’s wife Lady Mae, described as “a steely woman who loves money and power and will do absolutely anything to protect her position as the First Lady of Greenleaf World Ministries.”
