Hey NW. Thanks for the tweets.
You’re welcome, COS. Congratulations on first.
Way to go COS :)
Thank you NW for another fine selection of tweets and for the remembrance of Emmett Till.
This was inspired by one of Vicki’s comments in the previous thread ….
#LetsRollJoe
Interestingly, David Brooks is commenting on PBS about Hills and that people seem bored and dispassionate about her. I couldn’t agree with him more. I hate to say it on one hand because a woman president would be great but I just can’t see it for Hillary Clinton. She just seems out of touch and elitist.
Brava, meta! Excellent tweets.
Congratulations COS
BTW, if any of you haven’t seen Gov O’Malley’s barn burner at today’s #dems15 mtg., recommend you don’t miss it …
We need a lot more of that kind of conversation; a lot more.
back to work …
A million thanks to Bob and meta for covering the most important story of the day.
Martin O’Malley and Bernie double teamed at the DNC to speak up about a Party that is attempting to suffocate the actual constituents of the Democratic party. Martin said that the DNC silence is Trump’s consent.
Again, I didn’t think Bernie was speaking for Bernie.
I heard him advocating for an open door. Right this way, VPOTUS.
If you watch the tape of Martin be sure to watch DWS face as he exited.
Then watch Bernie’s face as DWS reached up to embrace him. It was a mirror image of PBO looking past her and HRC when they come at him big smiles and outreached arms.
In case anybody missed Bernie’s diss, he underlined it by enthusiastic first-bumping with Donna and then Big hugs with others on the podium.
——
On a lighter note
When we get to the swimsuit portion of this Who is the next Prez contest
I think Martin o’Malley wins walking away.
What?
I’m the only one at TOD who has noticed his biceps?
He’d win the “Shirtless next to Putin” competition, also.
Congrats, COS. Maybe Martin O’Malley will finally get some attention.
Congratulations COS!
NW, thank you for the tweets. You are truly a remarkable woman. I know you are always in my head.
Emmett Till’s story always gets to me.
It took me years to be able to read about it.
I was way too young to remember this. But I found the Jet magazine snooping through my Aunt’s magazines.
I was shocked when I looked at the pictures his brave Mother wanted the world to see. I was horrified. It changed my life.
It hurt then….it still hurts now.
pf—-Love these tweets.
This!!!!! They could teach Gibbs a few things about loyalty. :)
yes…they brought a smile to my face as well
Golden Tweets ;)
yes ..loved them as well
{{{{{{{{Nerdy}}}}}}} Thank you, Legend.
You’re welcome, Chiparoo. :)
Another astoundingly fine round up of tweets from the incomparable treasure genius NerdyWonka. So very good, broad ranging, powerful, deep.
:)
Sweet
How beautiful is that! All parents should do this. What a way to start the year! Look at the faces of those children! LOVE IT!!!!
there is no way anyone can force people to vote for a candidate just because the bureaucracy says so;
as an economist, some of the basic things I learned include:
(a) the need for diversifying risks (or as many regularly say => never put all your eggs in one basket) as way to guard against unforeseen events;
(b) taking into consideration the consumers’ (aka voter, here) preferences is a priority for any process in which your outcome depends on choice - otherwise participation rate may turn out to be low;
so, I continue to watch how this election plays out……..
Donald Trump is a fool. I cannot believe they are showing him on the news. It is ridiculous.
Great tweets, NW, thank you!
:)
Great Tweets NW. Just came back to check everything out. BBL.
:)
Stellar NW! Thanks - once again I am informed! :-)
:)
this story brought tears to my eyes - tears of joy and hope for the students and thanks to the adults who made a difference through what one might consider a simple act
Donald Trump has his running mate,………Trump/Racism 2016
And the racists Republicans love them.

Excellent Tweets, NW. Thank you.

In the Era/Age of Pres Obama, this happened.
Wow, this is a very big deal. I remember the days when this reduction in oil imports would have been thought impossible. Thank you, President Obama.
:)
Thanks for the great tweets, Legend Nerdy. A week ago, I said that when our President was back in full swing making news, the stage for Trump would get smaller and his statements seem more and more disconnected from reality. Our president has been back for one week, making big decisions and confronting real world challenges. In the background is the braying of the collective Republican jackasses and it all sounds like noise.
:)
I just watched M’OM at the DNC. He was excellent, I thought…I felt he spoke from his heart and was passionate about what it means to be a Democrat…the fact that they have scheduled only 4 debates to speak to the people, is flat out sinful! I think that calls, faxes, tweets etc are in order to MAKE them hear us and DEMAND that more be scheduled!
Yup …
Just when I thought I couldn’t detest him anymore than I already do…I was wrong.
It was disgusting Bobfr that GWB wants the people of N.O. to forget his administration’s fuck up. He has never asked forgiveness I doubt if he ever used the word in his life.
People like him never apologize for anything they ever do wrong. It’s beneath them…and always someone else’s fault
Is the stupid silly season over yet?
Sorry Sir, if you are a supporter of Donald Trump, you are not drunk, you’re a racists. But you can blame it on the booze, if you want..
Tell me this is just a bad dream, and we’ll all wake up soon.
gud gawd. they seem to have a never ending list of psychos, don’t they?
This guy’s a retired Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon. Whoa. Now, he says he’s running to “heal, inspire, and revive America.” But, I guess, only our insides. If you’re a woman.
Good evening TOD! Watching the coverage of NOLA and GWB’a appearance brings back all the horrors of that administration. And I do not say that lightly. From the unspeakable sadness of the lives lost during Katrina to the ignoring of intelligence related to 911 to 2 wars to torture and Guantanamo to the destruction of the economy to the enormous increase in debt and the list goes on. It’s so easy to forget just how much PBO was confronted with when he took office.
And I compare those things to the webcast today with PBO’s calm demeanor, articulate answers and conviction in trying to keep us from the follies of the past. I will never understand how the American people can begin to consider an R candidate. For now, I intend to enjoy every single day that PBO remains in office.
Hope everyone has a great last weekend in August before the craziness of Septmber. It remains very warm here so I intend to get some pool time!
G.W. was an embarrassment today in New Orleans, I don’t know why he even went.
One would think “truth and reconciliation.” He heard “dancing and laughing.” And probably “lunch.”
Has someone posted this today? I’ve been busy so if its already been posted, this is for the late comers, like me:)
http://www.politicususa.com/2015/08/28/report-documents-kochs-compounded-profited-hurricane-katrina.html
On August 28th, the Bridge Project released a report documenting the Koch brothers role in compounding the misery created by Hurricane Katrina, while they profited from the disaster. The report argues that:
The Koch brothers’ driving philosophy is to put their business interests ahead of everything else — as long as they’re growing their bottom line, nothing, and no one else, matters.
The study reveals how the Koch brothers helped exacerbate the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, and then capitalized on the aftermath. For example, the study states:
In 2005, Koch Industries was accused of decades of negligence resulting in destroyed wetlands from pipeline dredging, which allegedly compounded the effects of Hurricane Katrina on Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Before the hurricane made landfall, the Kochs saw opportunity to profit from a vulnerable population in need of scarce resources, calling it “the right market to restart operations” at their newly-acquired Georgia-Pacific facilities in the region.
After the hurricane, Koch Industries immediately went to work taking advantage of the situation, participating in a subsidized federal bond program, and it was even investigated for price gouging during a time of crisis; though the FTC found in their favor, Congress was highly critical of the FTC’s investigation.
On top of their efforts at the time of the storm, more recently the Kochs have also actively pushed policies that would hurt residents in flood-prone areas like the Gulf Coast, attempting to make flood insurance unaffordable to all but the wealthiest Americans and thereby price many residents out of their homes.
They are despicable, vile people.
too bad no one has yet found a way to legally go after these scumbags and have them put away in jail (for life) and their ill-gotten wealth seized and distributed to the needy and people they have exploited or whose lives they have destroyed
Baby Whisperer’s arrived! Look at that little girl’s face. Aww!
NW, as usual, your tweets are fabulous and informative. Thanks.

First state to implement this program state-wide!

Good Morning TOD….
GM, PF
there is a budget impasse…in the PA state house…the GOP controls the legislature and they mimic their cousins in the Congress…Obstruction and trying to hold the citizens of PA hostage in their demands…looking at the editorials from local papers and facebook comments folks are holding the GOP responsible…,,folks are not getting paid,.,..services are not being rendered…
PA is a BLUE state…but because of gerrymandering we send more GOP representatives to Congress and our state house is dominated by them….and all they do is obstruct…
one good thing….Wolf is still trying to move Forward
Mooooooooorning!
