Thought I’d switch out from my usual “Whoa.” Good Sunday afternoon, Nerdy Wonka! And I actually remembered his name was Cameron, even before seeing it in the tweet. The kid’s world famous, now!

Reminds me of Romney and his family, and IMO not the best way to foster trust in a child. Also too, I think she’s childishly mean.

So happy my Senator Jeff Merkley announced his support for the Iran Deal!! Have not given up on my other Senator, Ron Wyden.

    • 31 Obama Grandmama
      August 30, 2025 at 2:13 pm

I continually emailed both of my Senators including just last night again. I emailed Jeff this morning thanking him. Last night when I emailed Wyden it was to tell him to ignore the TV ad by the son of a Veteran that died due to Iran. The ad went on about him not accepting a deal where Iran would verify their own nuclear progress. I mentioned the incorrect AP article and how the man was either confused or intentionally not being truthful.

Maybe the GOP will say we need a protective canopy over the entire US as well as walls on both the Northern and Southern borders.

            August 30, 2025 at 7:36 pm

Kind of like a big dome. But, as the saying goes, will they be trying to keep others out or to keep us in? ‘Cause if the GOP ever gets back in the WH (which it can’t for at least 30 years), I’ll be heading north!

The GOP is the “home team” and is treated as such by the media. Whatever the GOP proposes, no matter how insane or treasonous, is de facto “acceptable” because the GOP proposed it. Whatever Dems or PBO proposes, no matter how practical and reasonable, is de facto “controversial” because the Dems proposed it. It is the way the owner class wants reality “framed”.

OMG, JO’B, I knew this guy was a dummy, but I didn’t realize how much of one he was. How frightening for the American people-bacon (gasp); maple syrup (oh no!) and scary poutine (french fries, curds and gravy) !!! How will Americans cope with all those calories pouring over our northern border. Build that wall and tell those Canadians to eat their own damned bacon and maple syrup. So there!!!!

Here is someone that would probably be a good follow this coming week….

My folks are going on an Alaskan cruise today leaving from pier 91 in Seattle! … I hope they get to be where POTUS is. I think they going to have stops in Ketchikan, Alaska, Tracy Arm fjiord, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria, B.C. on the way back…..does anybody know where these places are and if they will be by POTUS?

    • 47 Obama Grandmama
      August 30, 2025 at 2:24 pm

Your parents will be in SE AK on the Inside Passage. PBO will be much further North. Some cruises include the Glacier Bay trip, but most do not.

    • 49 japa21
      August 30, 2025 at 2:37 pm

Same cruise I was on last year, actually. Beautiful, but not near where PBO will be. What cruise line?

It was our first cruise ever. Absolutely loved it. So much so we are taking a 17 day cruise in Nov-Dec. Not Alaska, though.

I just double checked it is the “Ruby Princess” I’m glad you enjoyed your cruise…I’m sure my folks will as well. Where are you going in Nov….Carribian? …I’m assuming warm waters to get away from winter

You should try to make it to the Ann Dunham museum exhibit (if it is still there, I think at the Univ. of Hawaii) while there, Japa. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2012/01/obama-in-hawaii-family-time/1#.VeNWGvlViko

Sounds like my 2011 itinerary. Although Alaska was not on my bucket list, it was on my Mother’s; as it was a jazz cruise, I “suffered” through it. Had a lovely time; really enjoyed the sights; even arose at dawn to sit on deck as we traveled the Tracy Arm Fiord.

I’ve always worried about being confined to a boat, but if there is a casino on board I’m willing to “suffer” :)

I loved this cruise. Norwegian cruise lines.
No casino for me, but the fitness facility was superb. They had a competition for finishing a certain number of events which I managed to win a towel for completing.
FLOTUS and I have a lot in common.

As I’m claustrophobic, I always get a veranda stateroom or suite. I’ve been on about 10 jazz cruises; not sure I’d enjoy a “regular” cruise …

Although football season doesn’t start until next week….this the definition of moving the goalposts!

New MSM CW….President Obama, failed to prevent cloture ________ and all that AIPAC $$$$ wasn’t wasted because _______

I guarantee you the House will vote first now b/c it passes no matter what….then Mitch will play chicken to try to get 4 more squishy D’s as NO votes….if that doesn’t work he will change the vote to a resolution “of approval” (54 R’s, Schumer/Menendez vote no) ….and the media will completely buy it hook-line-sinker.

      August 30, 2025 at 2:47 pm

I thought it can’t come up in the Senate first, because it’s foreign policy, but It comes up in the house first when it comes time to override the President’s veto.

    • 73 Vicki

If symbolism is all AIPAC is going to get for all the millions it spent, so be it. This defeat of APAIC was not a forgone conclusion. PBO played is hand brilliantly while Bibi badly overplayed his. By his buffoonish and disrespectful behavior, Bibi has made Israel more and more a partisan issue. Democrat AIPAC congress critters will find themselves increasingly on the side of the GOP and against their own party. The divided loyalties of Schumer and Schultz should preclude them from holding leadership positions within the party.

Donna, and all MD TODers need to get on Hoyer’s ass…ASAP. He was talking nonsense while on that Israel codel last week and none of these people should be the designated *leaders* of our party.

This is absolutely unacceptable…you are not fit to serve/represent the party if you don’t even support your own President….let alone 80+% of elected members…
