On This Day - Pete Souza: “Seemingly trying to catch a look, Bo, the Obama family dog, sits outside the Oval Office as the President and First Lady participated in a promotion ceremony.” Aug. 30, 2013
I am not as prepared as Iād like. I actually start teaching tomorrow. It has been an interesting summer. Once I meet the kids, I will get excited. Itās all about them and thatās why I continue to love my job. Howās your job going? I never had time to connect with Vc. I wish I had. Iād love to meet her someday.
Morning all. Do we still have another blessed week before the Loonies return to Congress? Then weāll begin another session of the Republican majority trying to destroy the economy, undermine the President and stick it to the poor and middle class. Itās how they get their kicks. And worst of all, weāll be seeing more of Boehner and McConnell and if that doesnāt give you nightmares, I donāt know what will.
Good morning, again, TOD.
I mentioned on the end of the previous thread that the New York TV ads against the Iran deal have resumed.
My NY Times arrived on my doorstep and now I can report that there is a full page ad denouncing the Iran Deal.
The opponents of the deal have lost.
According to various sources the amounts they collected to lobby against PBO and the Deal were 20 million from AIPAC and 24 Million from other sources= 44 Million Dollars is going to be spent in a Failed effort to defeat the P5+1, President Obama, and world peace.
Vicky, you really are at the epicenter of it all as the forces of war burn millions of dollars to undermine diplomacy and destroy the potential for peace. In the end, they will make the NYT richer and themselves poorer and it will all be for naught. The fact that they will eventually eat dust is the only thing that compensates for the disgust I feel at this misguided war mongering.
The part that amused me was his constant use of “we” in reference to the Democrats. He has some nerve. And the irony: he lectures Dems on the danger of losing the White House when him being nominated would be the surefire way to do it.
Heās the Mother of all Emoprogs with his wheelbarrow full of glittery promises. I canāt believe that anyone with an once of equilibrium would want to listen to him haranguing day after day after day. I personally am topped out at 5 minutes, max.
I listened to one of his speeches I forget where he was but he mentioned that he has not made many campaign “promises” except that he would make sure any SCOTUS candidate would vote to overturn Citizens United, then he went into a litany of what he would do as president, free college for all, increase minimum wage, increase taxes on billionaires, no more trade deals, etc., etc.,
No ‘railingā going on here, simply expressing my view about the man. Relax. The fact that he is a “NON-D” seeking the D nomination, and is being hyped to the skies, is the issue - kinda hard to ignore.
Congrats to Judith and others on here. Iām sure my last name of WY has no influence on anyone. And I even knew Sen. Enzi long before he became Senator. Since 1977 as a matter of fact. He was my sons “soccer” coach.
You probably know Sen. Barrasso is in the Republican leadership. He stands behind and to the side of Mitch at every podium “statement”. Canāt get on TV enough. Cynthia Lummis is dumb and rich. Remeber her crying at a hearing about Obamacare? He was over 65 and theyāre millionaires. Lying LIAR!
He is another hypocrite. They talk to us as if weāre stupid. I donāt like NOT respecting my Senators. Even our Governor tried to get Medicare expansion. That doesnāt make up for a 10 cent a gallon tax though. How do republicans get away with that tax and get re-elected. I think itās a huge tax increase.
Is Medium a New Democratic forum or is it for everyone?
Boās pic doesnāt want to load for me.
My little Sammy snuggles so close sometimes he almost pushes me out of bed. He managed it once. I wouldnāt change it though.
Iām ranting because Iām sad about the Dem party. We should have been strong all eight years of the Obama Administration but no.
If it werenāt for TOD Iād probably have a nervous breakdown. Thank you Chips.
Is your guest sleeping in Dannyās bed? š
but please remember to acknowledge his yes decision with a positive message from you (his constituent) so that maybe at a later date and faced with a tough decision, he remembers that voters notice when he does the right thing
The dishonest Jonathon Martin of the NYTimes said on Inside Politics that the ” Obama Embarrassment ” of the week is the HE could not get the DNC to pass a resolution on the IRAN DEAL.
He left out the fact that Debbie ” Wassermann Test ” Schultz BLOCKED IT !
Hi Linda.
I saw that. Not one person spoke up in support of that meme. For JohnK to have Martin and the other woman from Politico and both now with the NYT is once again, CNN since Ted Turner sold it leaning further right and Fox-like.
The DC/NY pundits are always against Dems for GOPers, Corporations and for pushing dissatisfaction within the Progressive/Liberal/Emoprogs community.
There are a total of Five Co-chairs……so why is D-WS the Queen maker of the DNC?
Had D-WS been a Tim Kaine or a Howard Dean, the rest of the Co-Chairs would Never have stood silent. This is why I am an unabashed bleeding Liberal, but Never a DNCer.
A Party must have a set of core principles and NOT so worried about being seen as against a woman and/or against a woman from the Jewish faith. In 2000, Donna Brazil was not as effective for Gore. A Co-Chair was brought on and the Gore campaign was then moved to Goreās home State. She should have been fired. She wasnāt and this led to getting along instead of for actual Victory.
15 yrs later, Donna Brazil is still there……..what has she brought since to make DNC better?
DNC needs New Blood and folks like R.T Rybak……..Jennifer Granholm, Davis from TX, etc.
The village flatterer - you do a great job so I donāt have to! A very ‘Good morningā to you, Dudette, from my dreary-looking, overcast but quiet Sunday.
Thank you, Kind VC, Countess of Cool! May the dance of raindrops fill your heart with joy! Behold, it is the water of life from which all good things flow.
[Plus, itās a good time to kick and sleep in!] š
You know me well - some rain would perfectly replace the nagging guilt I have for not watering the lawn with joy! Now if only I could/would fall asleep life would be grand. :D
I think R.T. would have run for a major place on the Dem ticket if he hadnāt had a heart attack. Still wish he would run for Gov wen Dayton gives it up.
I suspect youāre right. I just wish they wouldnāt even ask him what he thought….about anything! I detest this man with the heat of 1000 suns. He needs to crawl back into the crypt, and stay there.
Well stated. The effect on the world will be of benefit, and people around the world, especially the Middle East, will rejoice at the war that didnāt happen, and the peace and prosperity that did.
Very true. Let the haters search and strain for “victories” based on spite and mean spiritedness. Their bravado is all for show. They know they have lost. If they felt they were “winning” they would be happier people, not in their current angry/depressed state. Any defeat of the Israel lobby in American politics is a BFD. AIPAC works best behind the scenes, out of sight of the American people. Such naked displays/flaunting of influence peddling (and the disrespectful buffoonery of Bibi) is a real turn off for most Americans.
Very sad news about the passing of Prof Oliver Sacks.
He made a real difference in the lives of so many.
For any of us who have known and cared for someone with mental illness, we have benefited greatly from Prof. Sacksā persistence in studying and explaining what was going on for patients to behave as they do.
Prof. Sacksā interviews were always funny and simple to understand. He will be greatly missed.
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening to my Chips and TOD family. I hope that all of my TOD family are having a beautiful and blessed Sunday.
GGail, I so agree with you regarding Bo. From the beginning, I have felt that Bo has felt the dignity , humbleness, respect, and honor of the Presidency of POB. In the photos of our First Dog, he seems to know that he is special and came from two very special people,{Senator Ted Kennedy and Vickie Kennedy} who loved and respected POB and FLOTUS. I love it when Bo is sitting and waiting for POB to enter the Oval Office. So respectful. Another photo was when Bo was inspecting the Christmas decorations one Christmas. Remember how he approached the tree for our military men and women, so solemnly. Very moving. I think Bo is the smartness First Dog in the WH in my lifetime. Axe even stated in an interview how smart Bo is. I love our First Dog, and our First Dog of TOD, Danny. Always a joy to see all their photos, Chips. Thank you so much.HZ
:-) Morning Mister!
morn missy. enjoying bluesā blues?
Very much - and Liverpoolās also too. But Iāll be cautious with my gloating because my shower have been as thrilling as a Billy Joel song.
too early in the season.

Good morning TOD folks!
Morning all. Do we still have another blessed week before the Loonies return to Congress? Sharpening their knives, ready to hold the nation hostage to another government shutdown. Itās unrelenting.
Rest in Peace, Oliver Sacks.
Mr 99 met him, such a wonderful person - it was so very sad to read of his passing.
Yes, an amazing human being.
Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family.

This!
For The Record
Bernie did NOT say at the DNC meeting that Democrats would lose without him.
He said that Democrats need enthusiasm to win.
Big difference.
He was pointing out the obvious.
VP Biden is the answer to generating that enthusiasm with a continuation of PBOās accomplishments and a giant coalition.
I listened to one of his speeches I forget where he was but he mentioned that he has not made many campaign “promises” except that he would make sure any SCOTUS candidate would vote to overturn Citizens United, then he went into a litany of what he would do as president, free college for all, increase minimum wage, increase taxes on billionaires, no more trade deals, etc., etc.,
“Heās the Mother of all Emoprogs with his wheelbarrow full of glittery promises”
Ah, perfect, Meta!!!
I listened to that one rally speech of his live a few weeks ago, my head hurt at the end. Insufferable - and ridiculous.
All of these things are true.
Which is why we can stick to what Bernie actually says that is ridiculous.
And avoid lying about what he doesnāt say
None of us can listen to him.
That is not the point
We will all vote for the (D) candidate.
Now, if we can figure out what we can do to convert disengaged voters rather than rail against a NON-D candidate, that would be a step forward.
.
No ‘railingā going on here, simply expressing my view about the man. Relax. The fact that he is a “NON-D” seeking the D nomination, and is being hyped to the skies, is the issue - kinda hard to ignore.
OK, TODers, youāve done your job well!
Great news! Thanks, meta.

At last our Oregon Senator Merkley. I donāt know what took him so long.
I donāt know either;
but please remember to acknowledge his yes decision with a positive message from you (his constituent) so that maybe at a later date and faced with a tough decision, he remembers that voters notice when he does the right thing
Could it be the slow drip that POTUS wanted?
OH!
YAY!!
# 31—-3 more and the veto will be sustained
Then, onto 41 votes and the Senate filibuster
Bravoooooooooooo….the Judith and Company…
the= to
So DWS got some fierce blowback on twitter yesterday. Here are a couple of tweets about the state of things.
GAH
Is 34 the magic number meta? My pea brain canāt remember anything. My brain is getting on my nerves.
Yes, 34 to sustain a veto.
What do we need for a filibuster? Isnāt the resolution dead if the House doesnāt pass it? Thanks meta.
Do you ever sleep?
41
And i am increasingly optimistic we will get there
Me too!
“burdened?” I wrote about this a few days ago as a possible tactic.
But “burdened” is less likely than “savior.”
I Love It!!!
love this - could be said any minute, any day, of any month
Yup. itās all his fault.
Healthcare for millions
Jobs. jobs, jobs
Wars ending
Embassies opening
marriage equality done

Absolutely adored this Mighty P, thanks a gazillion for sending it to me!!!

Morning everyone! Happy Sunday:) Congrats, amk, for sliding in the door first:)
A blessed Sunday and a successful week to everyone at TOD.
Morning, PWfO. I see you weathered the storm okay?
Sick shit. All they ever have is fear.
I think R.T. would have run for a major place on the Dem ticket if he hadnāt had a heart attack. Still wish he would run for Gov wen Dayton gives it up.
Cheney has no credibility. He should just g back to Montana and hide out.
When they pull Cheney out from his crypt they already know the battle is lost.
I suspect youāre right. I just wish they wouldnāt even ask him what he thought….about anything! I detest this man with the heat of 1000 suns. He needs to crawl back into the crypt, and stay there.
You mean Wyoming, I think.
:) I thought the same thing…Iām pretty sure itās Wyoming
Other than Politic, the DC/NY pundits, No Sane person listens to the Dick Cheney.
Eyes on the Prize: Haters may say all they want & medial may gloat about those Dems who chose to not support PBO on the #IranDeal.
But at the end of the day, history will record whether or not the #IranDeal passed and how that changed the different parts of the world.
those who said no will be just a footnote of history - that is if they are even that lucky
Well stated. The effect on the world will be of benefit, and people around the world, especially the Middle East, will rejoice at the war that didnāt happen, and the peace and prosperity that did.

Dick Cheney is a disgrace to this country, the worst VP ever.
