Fact: I am biased because of what I have observed VP Joe do and say these last 7 years and how he has never backstabbed PBO. in fact, VP Joe seems to be on of the few politicians who really get PBO, what makes PBO tick and has publicly said so time and again without equivocation.
My thoughts:
- From what VP Joe has repeatedly said, he understands that although PBO doesn’t have the character of a “chest-thumper”, POTUS is a very strong person who is comfortable enough to even let the people who hate him have some way to save face once their stupidity has been revealed for the world to see.
- But, most important of all, it is clear that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done on the issue of racial reconciliation and that VP would be more than ready to continue with the changes and dialogue that PBO started or as Bob calls it, Truth and Reconciliation. I can’t see VP Joe gingerly stepping around this crucial issue without saying out loud some truths people may not like to hear and will demonize him for.

VP Biden knows that the unfinished business of racial, economic and educational inequities in our society are the root of the greatest threats to the sustainability of the US, and more broadly, humanity. I think those inequities will be central to his campaign and Presidency.

I was never a cheerleader for Bernie even before he announced his candidacy. He is a lot of rhetoric and will make Dems lose the general elections - that is, if he ever got nominated. Though I love his policies, I am also aware that they will never win a majority votes.
That being said, with POTUS not on the ballot, I’ll vote wholeheartedly for any DEM because any one of the clowns in town scares me to death, Besides, I have never liked nor watched their cheerleader. Nor his hair!

“These moves constitute the most impressive and, in my view, laudable attempt to update labor and employment law in many decades,” said Benjamin I. Sachs, a professor at Harvard Law School and a former assistant general counsel for the Service Employees International Union. The goal, he said, is to “keep pace with changes in the structure of the labor market and the way work is organized.”

Today, we celebrate Labor Day – a day to honor America’s workers and mark their social and economic achievements.
Tomorrow, Members of Congress return to work and face a pretty sizeable piece of business — enactment of a budget for the fiscal year that starts October 1. Unfortunately, the Republican budget plans launch a double-pronged attack on the workers we are celebrating today.
The Republican appropriations bills are stacked with ideological provisions known as “riders” that are unrelated to spending levels and weaken basic protections for workers, the backbone of our economy.

Here are eight key ways Republican budget plans would hurt working Americans:
1. They’d weaken the Department of Labor’s ability to protect wages for more than 135 million workers, costing workers an estimated $70-$80 million in back wages.
The Senate bill cuts $67 million from the Wage and Hour Division, the part of the Department of Labor that enforces wage protections like the minimum wage, overtime pay, and the right for workers to be paid what they have earned. That’s a 24 percent cut compared to the President’s Budget. The House bill cuts the Division by $62 million, or 22 percent, below the President’s Budget. These bills would weaken the Division’s ability to protect wages in more than 7.3 million establishments for over 135 million workers, including the ability to recover back wages for workers.
2. They’d cut funding for workplace inspections and enforcement of standards that prevent illness, injury, and fatalities on the job.
The House would cut funding for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) by $57 million – or 10 percent – compared to the President’s Budget. ……………………………….

Republicans in Congress are literally a menace to a fair and just society. They take glee in undermining workers and making life more difficult and dangerous for Americans. People who vote Republican out of habit have no real understanding of the destruction their candidates wreak once in office.
JackieG, for two days now I’ve been trying to figure out how best to voice my disgust with the Republicans in 140 characters, in a way that might cause someone to pause and say ‘You know, this ridiculous and no-so-subtle destruction of progress for average Americans by *taxpayer PAID* GOPs has got to stop!’
I’m floored that the GOPs are *allowed* to get away with voting ‘no’ *unanimously* on an issue such as the #IranDeal and no major media outlet has questioned *any* of their leaders or members about this strategy…. ON THIS ISSUE! Yes, no’s become the GOP default position over the past few years, but **they have now made it so much the norm that they do not even have to justify themselves. What an insult to U.S citizens!** Thoughts around this have been circling around and around in my head. It simply is not right that Republicans should get away with doing nothing - heck individual Repub. Reps &/ Senators did not even have to give the matter any thought! Despite knowing they are in general a bad lot, it’s hard to accept there is not ONE Republican who has one iota integrity!
The fact GOPs are heading back to the floor of Congress tomorrow to continue with the same old behaviour is, IMO, unconscionable.
Is there not one visible thing that can be done to, at least, register our affront? If citizens cannot count on the Republicans to put aside their vengefulness and actually debate a serious issue sensibly, what is their purpose? Senate Republicans should at least have to explain the rationale for their decisions as Democratic senators did.
Did anyone here see CBS News this evening? Lead story was election 2016, the candidates, etc. It was the usual stuff about Hillary, Bernie, Trump. When they got to Joe Biden, one thing John Dickerson said put me “in a rage.” He had spoken with some “other Democrats and they don’t think he would be a good president.” UGH!!!!!!!!!! Throw something at the TV time.

I’d guess there’s a whole lot of turmoil going on in Joe’s head right now, so many reasons to run, so many reasons not to. Such an enormous decision to make, my hunch (most probably wrong) is that those who love him don’t want him to run, but he’s torn. I just hope he does what’s right for him, he’s already given so, so much.
I didn’t think he would run - and after his son died - just made it moreso. I do believe he wants to support someone & will be a great campaigner - he just hasn’t found the right person to support - don’t see it being anyone except Hillary at the minute.
Then again, most of my thoughts have been 90% wrong in the past few years. I never ever ever thought Australia could be so stupid as to elect Tony Abbott.
