It throws McConnell’s rules and literally YEARS of his harping about” 60 votes are needed on important matters”, yada yada.
And it means the vote is DEFEATED. It never gets to PBO’s desk for a veto. Gee, MSM never made a big deal out of Dems getting a simple majority on vote after vote that was held to a 60-vote threshold. It was a “defeat”. It will be interesting to see if the GOP-MSM shows Dems that same deference in the minority.
the whole cloture/filibuster/60 votes is all utter bs. no wonder not many big things get done.
It’s outrageous, and was never used like this before McConnell. Never. And the chutzpah of the GOP to expect Reid to not fight back. Filibusters were only supposed to be used for very serious issues when a certain level of super-majority was required. McConnell used it for absolutely everything and held the Senate hostage. Well, back at ya! Hey, McConnell could still say eff you to Reid and hold an up or down vote and send it to PBO’s desk. But he will be called out for the hypocrite that he is, and it may actually make the few Dem senators who didn’t want to filibuster, to go ahead and do it.

The concern is Coons, he has said he wants a vote. BUT Cantwell still is out there, if she takes it to 42 Coons can be ignored.

I want to weep with joy. I really thought Blumenthal would be a “no”, his Jewish heart and all. I’ve been tweeting about what “Jewish values” mean to me over the last week, and this deal is the best of Jewish values.
It was Casey and who else that didn’t want a filibuster? Other than Manchin, who we don’t need to kowtow to on this anymore.
But the 60-vote threshold is good enough for me!
It’s also possible that DWS’ and her “Jewish heart” announcement for her support facilitated Blumenthal’s decision? :)
I think that made a huge difference. I’ve been relentless against her on this, but I know this was a hard for her so I give her props for that. I do think the twitter war was important, and it was important to hear from Jews, especially from my age group. Bibi does not dictate what it means to be Jewish, and it was important to get that message across.

Cam Newton Responds To Backlash Over ‘Gang’ IG Post

Cam Newton set everyone up with troll, and it was the easiest bait and catch I’ve seen in sometime.
On Thursday, before the Panthers played the Steelers in the final exhibition game, Newton posted a photo to his Instagram account of himself with seven of his close friends on a trip to Mexico.
Some of the friends are wearing bandanas on their faces and making hand gestures while Newton, in the front, has his hands in the form of a ‘W.’
Most of the comments centered around gang culture and whether Newton was a Crip or Blood.
Friday Newton took to IG again, to set the record straight, using another photo to highlight the stereotypes and judgments that serve no real purpose.
Cam then posted this picture

Newton told the media at Panthers practice, that he wouldn’t be “forced into a box” or made to act like the stereotypical quarterback.
