I’ve had better days, Chips. Kasper and Nickelby scuffled yesterday. I broke them up but Kasper went back at Nickelby, and Nickelby took a bite out of Kasper’s lip. a big, deep tooth-sized hole. The Doggie ER people whom I love, told me it was a superficial pin prick and sent us home. I thought the hole had closed. Nope - the triage nurse just missed it! He also had a bit of a gash under his eye. They have been absolutely wonderful in the past, but they effed up this one. I put ozonated olive oil on it (this stuff works), and I think that’s why it’s just a hole and not an infected mess. He’s had other issues lately, so we’ll take him to our regular vet this afternoon. He’s a helluva trooper. He doesn’t seem to be in any pain, but it may need stitches. My poor little guy!

    they are so pitiful

Republican anti-Iran deal plan falls apart despite rally spectacle

Rachel Maddow shares clips from assorted right-wing luminaries at an anti-Iran deal rally in Washington, D.C., and talks with Frank Thorp, NBC News Capitol Hill reporter, about how Republican disorder makes it unlikely there will be any actual vote of disapproval of the deal in Congress.

Morning all. When your whole philosophy of governing is based on disorder, disruption and saying no, you can’t expect to actually accomplish anything. After the bullying and threats failed to cower the Dems on Iran, the Republicans were left with nothing. The ‘great’ rally yesterday was a sham with a pitiful crowd and the usual incoherence from Trump, Palin and Cruz. What a sad spectacle these creatures are, jacked up by their own egos and supported by a slavering media. Meanwhile our hard working President continues to deliver great achievements that improve the well being of Americans and make the world a safer place to live in. If we don’t find a worthy successor for him, this country will be in a very dark place.

my concern Jackie is what are the DEMS doing….we have a spectacular President…we have great economic news…he has done good by working people…why haven’t the DEMs taken a page from the President’s book….there are plenty of reasons to be hopeful….

why are they not touting the accomplishments…showing where we have come from since 2008….you can only challenge despair with HOPE….

as we talk about all the things that the GOP are doing….the DEMS need to talk about the significant things that the DEMS have done…starting with the President…..

          Good morning TOD.
          Prettyfoot. You’ve nailed it!

One of the reasons we lost in 2010 and 2014 is that except for the WH there was very little talk, buzz, or coverage of all the amazing things being done.
How many things were improving or bad situations being solved.

It seemed to me and I said it on TOD repeatedly—the Democrats were trying to lose. And lose we did.

The media covers, as Eric puts it “the Home Team (GOP.”)
What can a minority party do? Every RW sneeze and cough makes the news at the same time PBO is denied TV time.

Here are a few ideas on how to improve our chances and I hope many ideas can be added.

We need a new head of the DNC. One who is committed to proclaiming PBO’s achievements and running on what has been accomplished in the past 6 1/2 years.
We need every (D) candidate—-friend or not of the President to declare support for the current administration and not suggest their own run is to get back on the right track or to make up for any shortcomings they have invented
If you can’t do this, please sit down. Bernie, Hillary, I am looking at you.

If you are a (D), any (D) invited to speak on ANY topic whatsoever, make sure you are a good commercial for The Democratic Party. If you cannot do this, If all you are about is yourself, please sit down.

            yanno…Vickie….

the candidates are going to be the candidates…

however…if the DNC were to begin to do as both of us have said…that does not leave much room for the candidates to be contrary…DEMS need to proud of our President and their accomplishments…like how Pelosi and Reid orchestrated and with the help…no matter how reluctant some DEMS were….they stood with the President…that is something to be praised….YESSSSSSSSS WE CAN…

So my question is do Donald Trump look in the mirror? He has no right to be talking about how someone else face look. I guess when he look in the mirror he sees money or his big bully ego, because he does not see a handsome man. His latest comment about that Carly Fiorina ought to turn his base off, but it won’t because his racists base only care about one thing “Making America White Again”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poll: Donald Trump surges to 32% support

By Jennifer Agiesta, CNN Polling Director
Updated 7:55 AM ET, Thu September 10, 2025 | Video Source: CNN
Washington (CNN)Donald Trump has become the first Republican presidential candidate to top 30% support in the race for the Republican nomination, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll, which finds the businessman pulling well away from the rest of the GOP field.

Trump gained 8 points since August to land at 32% support, and has nearly tripled his support since just after he launched his campaign in June. The new poll finds former neurosurgeon Ben Carson rising 10 points to land in second place with 19%. Together, these two non-politicians now hold the support of a majority of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, and separately, both are significantly ahead of all other competitors.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush stands in third place with 9%, down 4 points since August, and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz holds fourth place with 7%. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker follow at 5%, with all other candidates at 3% or less, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who notched the only other statistically significant shift in the poll by falling 5 points since August.

GOP’s populist revolt arrives at Capitol, complicating Iran debate
By Mike DeBonis and Katie Zezima September 9 at 10:09 PM

The anti-establishment disenchantment now roiling the Republican presidential nominating contest landed on Congress’s doorstep Wednesday, with two presidential candidates rallying opposition to the Iran nuclear deal on the Capitol lawn, targeting not just President Obama but GOP leaders as well.

“We are led by very, very stupid people — very, very stupid people,” front-runner Donald Trump told the crowd, eliciting hearty cheers. “We cannot let it continue.”

The crowd frequently yelled “Amen!” and consistently booed any mention of Obama, congressional Democrats, House Majority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Meanwhile, inside the Capitol, a member revolt forced Boehner to revise his plans to hold a vote against the Iran deal this week — an unexpected showing of the internal GOP acrimony that has some fearing a government shutdown in three weeks.

Rikyrah, it’s interesting that WaPo fails to mention the size of this so-called populist revolt crowd. If presidential candidate Barack Obama had ever drawn a crowd this small it would have been headline news. We are supposed to believe that a few hundred mouth breathing racists and haters are significant.

In a break with Obama, Clinton lays out tougher worldview

By Anne Gearan September 9 at 6:32 PM
Hillary Rodham Clinton — who has spent much of her campaign embracing the policies of President Obama — signaled clear disagreement with her former boss Wednesday in key areas of foreign policy, suggesting in some cases that he has been too hesitant.

Again and again, Clinton pointed to instances overseas where she would have taken a tougher stance than Obama, from arming Syrian rebels to confronting an expansionist Russia. In some cases, she was talking about policy debates she lost while serving as Obama’s first-term secretary of state, or about advice she suggested was not heeded.

The critique, delivered as part of a Washington speech focused on the Iran nuclear deal, was in many respects subtle — wrapped inside overall praise for Obama and never targeting him directly. But the differences were nonetheless striking for a candidate who has worked carefully to soften her hawkish national security reputation and who badly needs Obama’s liberal coalition of voters to gain the White House.

“Those of us who have been out there on the diplomatic front lines know that diplomacy is not the pursuit of perfection,” Clinton said. “It’s the balancing of risk.”

That line was meant to answer Republican critics who say the Obama administration failed to drive a hard bargain in international nuclear talks with Iran. But Clinton echoed some GOP criticism of Obama’s hands-off approach to some world problems.

Shonda Rhimes opens up to Oprah about 100-pound weight loss on ‘Super Soul Sunday’
by Chris Witherspoon | September 9, 2025 at 2:17 PM

Shonda Rhimes is opening up for the first time about successfully dropping 100 pounds.

Rhimes recently sat down with Oprah for an all-new season of OWN’s Super Soul Sunday set to air November 15.

During the interview the acclaimed creator of ABC’s Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy opened to Oprah about how adopting the practice of saying “yes” for one year completely changed her life and also discussed her dramatic weight loss of 100 pounds.

As a self-proclaimed introvert, Shonda has chosen to spend much of her life out of the public eye, creating popular television shows and raising her three children. In an effort to evolve and step out of her comfort zone, Shonda shares with Oprah how her sister challenged her to say “yes” for an entire year to any unexpected invitations that came her way, which is chronicled in her upcoming memoir, “Year of Yes.” She opens up about this process, the powerful impact saying yes had on nearly every aspect of her life and what she says is one of the most amazing decisions she has ever made.

      re Trump …. Yes.

Haven’t you noticed yet that his ‘speeches’ can be reduced to simple sentences with simple ideas which are then repeated over and over for the sheeple to applaud?

      • 84 swbluega
        September 10, 2025 at 10:46 am

Most of his speeches are dominated by sentences beginning with “I” and “ME”. *I* am great. *I* am brilliant. *I* am rich. *I* have done… *I* know how to… *I* will be so great at… Everyone loves??? *ME* Thousands of people came to see *ME*

I guess putting other people down and making personal attacks is a continuation of building himself up in his own mind.

Of course, he is catering to people who are focused on the surface and are not looking for the substance…because there is no substance to his speeches. He is going to do sooooooooo much but will not (probably cannot) go into detail about HOW he is going to get it done. And just like with GOP candidates who have been voted into office by making outrageous claims about what they are going to do with no [realistic] blueprint about how they were going to get it done, the only thing that will get done is a lot of chaos, non-achievement, setbacks, etc.

Part of President Obama’s success was that from the beginning, he had a blueprint. It also was not about I/ME. He always talked about *WE*

So true. Although I know that serious minded people can see through his rhetoric, I can’t understand how he talks about what he’s going to do on day one (sometimes before) and people don’t question HOW? And I’m especially offended about how he can brag about scamming people (using the system, filing bankruptcies, etc.) and so many seem to be okay with it.

My husband continuously says Trump is nothing but a con artist. I see him as a carnival barker.

The lead singer of R.E.M. was not pleased that Donald Trump walked onto the stage at his Wednesday rally against the Iran deal to the band’s song, “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine).”

R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe blasted Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for using the song at their rally in a Wednesday email to The Daily Beast.

“Go fuck yourselves, the lot of you—you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men,” Stipe told The Daily Beast, referring to Trump and Cruz. “Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign.”

If you go to @ktumulty on Twitter you will see a shocking tweet titled Empty.
It is a HRC Women’s event.
I am not sure when or where it was taken but if valid it supports what many of us here have been saying for a very long time.
