It’s not just Serena. Halep also lost - when she was expected to win. As #1 and #2 they were both under an incredible amount of pressure that the other two semi-finalists just weren’t under. I still contend that they were both thrown off…
Unfortunately……this is why it is called a Game.
It is always those who are considered the underdogs that will always over perform to win when they are Never expected to win.
I will bet that Vinic has never beaten Serena at this level before.
There’s little to no pressure on the underdogs…they feel that they’ve already accomplished more than they set out to, so they go into the Game with high confidence and very little nerves. Staying at the top is much harder than getting there!
Like Pat Riley said when it comes to basketball, there is either winning or misery.
I’m with the First Lady, she tweeted some lovely words to Serena, I am proud of Serena too. What she did this year was amazing. She still is the best and will go down in history as the best female tennis player ever.

Thank you, meta. I loved the way our President combined his personal experience (especially the image of him giving Sasha a bottle) with the larger message of the day. He is so masterful in his answers to any question and very generous to others as in his compliment to GW Bush. He never needs to diminish someone else in order to make himself seem bigger because he’s an evolved, adult human being who is fully confident in himself. There is not one person in the GOP presidential clown car who doesn’t look like a spoiled child next to him.
