Morning everyone!! Good luck today dd, congrats 99ts, (though I did read that this new PM thinks the climate change initiatives put in place by Abbott are fine…that’s terrifying) Chips…jackieg gave you excellent advice on the sofa:) If she was amk, she would have charged you:)
As the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent noted, the issue of illegal immigration — Trump’s signature — has risen in significance among Republicans. In a June CNN/ORC poll, 39 percent of Republicans said that the issue would be “extremely important” to their vote for president. After the Summer of Trump, the new poll shows 51 percent saying so.
This raises two questions: First, how much is concern about illegal immigration a proxy for anxiety about a future in which whites are a minority in the U.S.? Second, is Trump heightening that anxiety among conservatives, and thereby threatening to deepen Republicans’ demographic dilemma in the process?
The number of illegal immigrants in the U.S. is not surging. Since 2007, it has been falling, flat or modestly rising, depending on the hour. It’s possible that attention to the flow of migrants in Europe has triggered rising conservative agitation over illegal immigration in the U.S. But Trump’s rhetoric, and his rallying effect, is almost certainly playing a role.
Good Morning TOD Family, Chipsticks, Dannysticks, Nerdywonkette, and all the Lurkers.
I want to thank everyone for their condolences for the loss of my two kitties and to thank GGail for letting the TOD family know. It was devastating as many who lost a pet knows, when you loose a little life that you have taken into your home and your heart. My Holly was a feral kitten I took into my home in hopes to find her a forever home. She was just over one year old and was stricken with a virus that has no sure test for nor cure. This was totally unexpected and her quality of life declined so fast that I had to do the right thing and let her go humanely as possible. My older kittie had been failing for awhile and the next morning after letting Holly go, she slept almost all day the day before barely eating or drinking. I held her and spent time with her until she got worse as the day progressed and I did not want her to suffer so back to the vet again. Two days in a row was devastating. Thanks to my TOD family and my other kitties at home helped to soften the loss but I feel a big void without seeing their little faces, hearing their purrs, and giving them their hugs & kisses.
I also want to give my condolences to Roberta in MN for her loss and my prayers to all TOD’er who are not feeling well or have medical procedures. To my dear Chipsticks and Dannysticks, I am glad you both are on the mend from the wasp attacks. I was watching My Girl and
it reminded me of the scene where Macauley Cauklin that plays the little boy in the movie who is allergic to bee/wasp stings and he jumps into the lake to get away from them the first time but not so lucky the 2nd time. Chipsticks I am glad that you and Danny are OK, be careful walking in the woods and hope that Danny’s follow up vet visit finds him OK and no need for an x-ray.
{{{jojo}}}} I’m so sorry to hear about your precious babies. This is the first I’m hearing about this…my heart aches for you…I know how this feels. When the time is right for you, you will open your arms and heart to other kitties that need your love and care…until then, know they loved you and remember the good memories:) Much love.
TU df…..I was expecting my older kitty one day would not be around so I did adopt two kittens two years ago and took in another, so I have three kittys under three years old that helped soften the loss. I was not expecting the other younger one to go so suddenly…that was a real shocker, she was so sweet and beautiful, she looked like a Maine Coon with deep green eyes. When I found her and decided to bring her home and try to get her adopted, I got her fixed and then she started having medical issues so I decided to keep her rather than to adopt her out to someone who could be straddled with a lot of medical bills.
I am glad I brought her home since she was always on my mind every time I would feed her or when it would rain. She was a very smart resourceful kitty even at that young age she found a place to keep dry and kept out of the way of cars. She always knew when I was coming to feed her and she would act like she did not want me to go. She let me pet her through the fence so when time came and I decided to trap her and bring her home, she was not too afraid, she never hissed at me although she was feral. She eventually let me pick her up and would not run from me. I bought cat toys and she loved to play catch with the rubber and paper balls. Thursday after I left the vet I went to the place where I found her and just reminisced of the time when I first found her and those little eyes peering out from behind the fence, my placing food and water under the fence and making sure she had lots of water during the really hot days.
{{{{{JoJo}}}}}, Having been a kitty person for as long as I can remember, I know what you are feeling. I have fed and cared for and brought home homeless kitties since I was a very little girl. I turned my Mom into a cat person, as she had never had them growing up. There are plenty of people who like animals and take good care of their pets, but still don’t truly see them as family members. I recognize a kindred spirit in you. Each little soul brings its own individual rays of sunlight into our lives and leaves us with unique memories. I still think of kitties of mine that have passed on; they are still in my heart, just as my late father is. In fact (and my father knows I love him and would understand this), losing some of my cats has been more difficult than it was for me after he passed. My father never lived with my mom and I. Those kitties that lived with me for years, and were there every night when I came home and every morning when I got up, came to rub there little heads against me when I was sad or sat next to me when I was feeling under the weather - their loss was much more difficult.
Sending love and light and deep sympathy. My wish is that the veil between the worlds is parted, so that you and your kitties on the other side can know that one another are o.k. and that love will connect you always. >^..^^..^<
TU MadameSoph….I am tearing up reading this because you’ve expressed how I feel about missing their little faces and how Holly would touch me by laying on or by my feet while I worked and would brush up against my leg to let me know she needed to have her head rubbed or want to play.
Jojo, I think I may have told you a little bit of this story before, but not in detail. I had very special cat who I was very close to. He was 19 when he passed. We were especially close. A few days before he passed, I was holding him and telling him the story of how I found him (abandoned with his brothers and sisters in the parking lot of “The Burrito Inn”) and how lucky I was that he came into my life. The next day, I pulled into a grocery store parking lot and there was a shoe box sitting in an empty shopping cart. Something in my heart told me to look. Sure enough, there were four tiny, just-born kittens in there, abandoned without their mom. I took them home and began the every two hour feedings, etc., managing to keep three of them alive (one died in my arms within a couple of days).
A few days after I had found the kittens, my dear 19 year old passed. He had been very ill and I had asked him to let me know when he was ready to go. One night I woke up and he was paralyzed from the waist down. I took him to the emergency vet and said goodbye. After I came home and went to sleep I had one of those dreams that seems real, the kind that are different from the regular dreams, almost like you are awake. In it, an angel/guide type of person appeared in front of me and handed my little 19 year old kitty man back to me. I held him in my arms and said, “He’s here, he’s really here!” Then I “saw” him above me, floating down slowly and when he reached the bed, he turned into one of the baby kitties. Beautiful dream, right? But here is the truly profound part. As the kitties grew up, one of them had his characteristics - so much so that friends of mine who had known my old cat would comment on the similarity. Now, I don’t claim to know how it works exactly between this world and the next. It makes no sense time and space-wise. But, I KNOW that is the same soul. He’s 13 now and he is absolutely my old kitty returned in a new form. This experience changed the way I look at death and reassured me that nothing is ever really lost, there is only temporary separation.

I agree with DF, D-WS needs to depart the Chairperson seat. She has Never been effective.
In 2004 and 2008, the DNC sanctioned only 6 debates respectively.
Mr. O’Malley can call up the rest of the field and organize for more debates. In 2008 and in 2004, Dems had more than 6 debates.

My point is that if the Candidates say that they are having a Forum, Debate or a Symposium………they will be able to find a C-SPAN, any other News Network to Telecast their debates as they din in 2004 and 2008. I don’t recall the number of Debates held in 2004…..I do remember an event held at Howard U in DC, I remember Dems held at least 21/22 debate Forums in 2008.
O’Malley needs to talk to his fellow Candidates and then with a commitment by a Network, then announce it. The DNC can not deny their Candidates…….all of them or most of them from participating in the 6 sanctioned DNC debates.
I hope you’re right but I’m not so sure about that! I remember forums and that seems to be what DWS is ruling out at this point and ruling with an iron fist. I think it’s political malpractice and she should step aside but so far it just continues to be a mess as far as I’m concerned.

Between 2000 and the second quarter of 2015, the share of income generated by corporations that went to workers’ wages (instead of going to capital incomes like profits) declined from 82.3 percent to 75.5 percent, as the figure shows. This 6.8 percentage-point decline in labor’s share of corporate income might not seem like a lot, but if labor’s share had not fallen this much, employees in the corporate sector would have $535 billion more in their paychecks today. If this amount was spread over the entire labor force (not just corporate sector employees) this would translate into a $3,770 raise for each worker.
The new bill would protect transgender people in public places and allow them to use bathrooms of the gender with which they identify. Supporters say transgender people have been denied service at restaurants or asked to leave stores because of their gender identity.
The state law passed four years ago afforded more protections to transgender people in matters of employment, housing, lending, and public education.

We’ve seen this process play out before. In October of 2013 the GOP, led by its Tea Party wing, rode a government shutdown for over two weeks, playing chicken by refusing to raise the debt ceiling and defaulting on government loans. The country lost about $24 billion in economic growth in the process, and Tea Party popularity fell to a new low. But voter memories are short. A year later, when midterm elections rolled around, the shutdown and its effects were all but forgotten, and the Republican Party not only held onto the House, but won a majority in the Senate, too.

Sign attacking Black Lives Matter activists left at site of police shooting
Relatives paying their first visit to the site of the killing of an unarmed black man by police in North Carolina were greeted by a sign attacking civil rights activists as racists and ordering them to “leave our neighborhood alone”, according to family representatives.
Jonathan Ferrell’s mother and brother travelled on Monday to Bradfield Farms, in the eastern suburbs of Charlotte, to lay a wreath on the spot where the 24-year-old former Florida A&M University football player was fatally shot by a police officer two years ago.
According to a family spokesman, before the Ferrells arrived at the site of the shooting a wooden placard was placed nearby. It displayed a message in white paint that said: “We reject your racist attitude … leave our neighborhood alone!”
The sign was addressed “to the racist groups” Black Lives Matter and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), which was restyled as the “National Association of Always Complaining People”.
A small vigil with the Ferrells had been scheduled by local activists for Monday evening.
The Ferrell family’s spokesman, Ryan Julison, said: “It’s incredibly disappointing that the message this neighbourhood would choose to send to this grieving family is something so negative.”
The location of the sign, at the entrance to the Bradfield Farms Swim and Racquet Club, was verified by the Guardian.

Note: The RNC has a 9 sabctioned debates………Yet, One NH Paper, one IA Paper and C-SPAN have already held one Q&A Forum for 90 minutes already.
O’Malley is exactly right.
Trump loves European immigrants.
Interesting.
Yes, he won’t even work with Dems, but he’s going to give us all unicorns if he’s POTUS?:
What a joke this guy is.
I really don’t get this. He is running for the Dem nomination, but doesn’t want to actually BE a Democrat.
then he can’t run as a democrat.
Jon Stewart is not around to shame them because we all know that FOX & GOP will only pimp 9/11 to their benefit. Where are the Tobey Keiths, Trace Adkins, and all the other 9/11 pimps going after the GOP?
Hahahahahaha! good one Chips :D
Just the kind of AA Bernie thinks represents American AA’s: sits in an ivory tower, says nothing is good enough and isn’t willing to actually do the work to fix things.
Surprised that this tweet seems to have upset someone in the comments - you are alluding to a fact
Ha, saw that Linda - I’ve been blockety-blocked!! :-)
That sister is real touchy if she blocked you for speaking zee truff and yes, it tells us what side of the shade tree she sits on. When people reveal who they are - believe them and say buh bye :-)
Absolutely horrific
Just a nightmare Meta - and this is the poor history Professor who was killed:

Oh my gosh, he seemed like a good guy. Just completely sickening. May he RIP.
Oh this is horrible!
This is a man who has demonized Arabs and Muslim in particular.
This a man who is against undocumented immigrants from South America.
Please pardon me if these Crocodile tears of his make me want to slap him hard across the face.
http://crooksandliars.com/2015/09/decline-labor-s-share-corporate-income
Between 2000 and the second quarter of 2015, the share of income generated by corporations that went to workers’ wages (instead of going to capital incomes like profits) declined from 82.3 percent to 75.5 percent, as the figure shows. This 6.8 percentage-point decline in labor’s share of corporate income might not seem like a lot, but if labor’s share had not fallen this much, employees in the corporate sector would have $535 billion more in their paychecks today. If this amount was spread over the entire labor force (not just corporate sector employees) this would translate into a $3,770 raise for each worker.
WOW!
This needs to happen. For real.

no problem…but is it down.
i wonder how many of those folks were at the President’s last rally in Iowa in 2012
We’ve seen this process play out before.
FLOTUS is perfect, as usual!
uh huh

It may be because of the situation in MIssissippi. I saw a tweet here that gunman is holding 7 hostages.

Ooops, that’s not what I wanted to post! Sorry!
This is what I meant:
I received this information in my inbox from the Whitehouse and I forwarded it to my sister for my nephew. Every penny of assistance helps to get a youngster through via education and training.
Thank you President Obama, FLOTUS and Dr. Biden!
Hay haters is this shooting POTUS fault too?
The ” Defund Planned Parenthood ” call is a fraud.
Congress does not fund Planned Parenthood. Congress funds HHS who decides which groups to award grants to. Congress has NO say in it at all.
Finally, an honest Republican, Tom Cole, made the media aware of the nonsense they are promoting.
I just smile …..
… and I think most of you know why ;)
Because VP Biden is beginning to walk like a candidate, talk like a candidate, act like a potential President? :-)
Hmmmmmmmmmmm ….. maybeeee…….. :D
bbl …. back to work :)
:D
VPOTUS is my next President.
loving my 45th President. :)
